Well, yesterday I had an traffic accident. A woman-driver without any reason (and turn signals) turn right from left lane and hit my car. Especially this action strange because her car go in 1/2 hull up the front of my car and have to understand, what will happen. Fortunately I react in time and get small damages, but it was close. I often was an witness of women-drivers irrational actions and have my own opinion about them. (yep, not good opinion, call me sexist, I don't care) What do you think about such phenomenon, as woman-driver?

Man causes a traffic accident - "That guy is a terrible driver!"

Woman causes a traffic accident - "Women are terrible drivers!"

Now the real question: sexist-forum-post-creator - evil or not? ;)

I'm not going to assume anything, but this was the very example of a sexist thing to say - both in claiming that women are terrible drivers, and in saying that they're evil. Evil? Really?

And I love the bit where he dismisses statistics as being nothing more than abstract data, and instead goes with his very limited personal experience - because of course statistics that aggregate data from all the drivers are just numbers open to interpretation, while one man's very limited and biased experience is fact, is solid.

It reminds me of a friend I have, who's a nice guy, but also unfortunately really racist against African Americans. Admittedly, the ones that he's encountered growing up have mostly not been nice people, but I keep trying to tell him that he can't judge 40+ million people based on the few that he's personally run into growing up in a crappy neighborhood.

I would've just assumed that the guy is jokingly venting some frustrations as much as his broken English will allow him. But you're right, it's much more probable that actually believes every single woman to be actually evil. I bet he's also a racist...and an islamophobe...and he hates fluffy animals.

Oh, you could be right. I didn't think his post was sarcastic or tongue-in-cheek, but I could be wrong. Sarcasm is hard to detect in online conversations - I myself try to leave a ;) to clue people in.

Wait..., if you're always sarcastic, that means you're being sarcastic right now about being sarcastic, thus you're not always sarcastic.

But..., if you're not always sarcastic, then that means you're not being sarcastic right now, therefore you are always sarcastic!

It usually looks like this:
Man behind wheel acting like idiot - "some people cant drive! wrrr"
Woman behind wheel acting like idiot - "women cant drive wrrr

No one starts freaking thread asking if men should drive when gets hit by male driver... Some people complain about "assholes that did this or that for no reason and crashed me", but no one ever focus on gender of driver when its a male.

Mindset of "woman cant drive because they are women" i put in same place as "woman cant be doctors/variety of other jobs that aren't nanny, maid or governess" or "women are less intelligent than men because their brain weight less".

As interesting note: you might read about self fulfilling prophecy study... soo spreading old nasty stereotypes and repeating to every poor girl , that she's doomed to be bad driver just because she wasn't born with a dick certainly isn't helping anyone.

For me, the worst aren't men or women, young or old drivers, people from one country or another, etc., but the ones who believe themselves to be better drivers than the rest, get overconfident and end up taking more risks than another person would. We are (or should be) smart enough to not fall for all these old and inaccurate stereotypes, they only create more conflict and stress among drivers and don't solve a thing.

Funilly enough, the so-called developing countries tend to have much more common sense than the western countries. This whole "you are sexist/racist/xenophobe as soon as you disagree with the majority" craze is fucking insane.

"Disagreeing with the majority" does not make someone sexist.

"Thinking that gender determines driving ability" makes someone sexist.

i experienced myself that woman tend to be less skilled in driving cars on average. They seem to be oblivious about their surroundings and dont pay much attention. The most drastic example was that one woman who should have waited at a stop sign took the right of way of my father who was on a motor bike. My father crashed into her and fell on her hood and then to the ground.

I did get into a car accident caused by a woman-driver last year as well. She didn't notice in time that traffic was jamming. Meanwhile, i see a lot of man-drivers making similar mistakes, like speeding up fast when a traffic jam slowly starts moving again. Or not noticing they are drifting into another lane while they are typing messages on their phones. People in general just don't pay enough attention in traffic.

You are so right. Even with laws against texting and driving... people seem to simply not care and keep looking at their phones behind the wheel. I once saw a police dude texting (or at least checking his phone) while driving. That was deliciously ironic. (and slightly infuriating)

Given driving performance has no relation to your sexual apparatus, the only reason sex should be a factor in appraisal of your driving capacity is if you're trying to steer with your genitals. In which case your license is usually revoked and you're forced to take up your practice in Rocket League.

Clearly it was all your fault, you are just so manly and hansome that when the woman driver glanced over at you, she couldn't help but try to get closer to you. even if it meant driving her car into yours!

Clearly the only possible solution to this is to only dive with a some sort of full body covering so you do not tempt more woman drivers into accidents!

i think idiots are idiots and both of the two and only two genders (:D) have their fair share, so nah, probably no such thing is a 'woman driver'. sure is a fun stereotype though.

I don't own a car, I can't drive, I always was indifferent to cars. Probably it's strange for a guy, but I don't care. But I am an active cyclist, 5385 km this year so far, and 95% of this was in the city on roads, never on pavements. I'm kinda "Premium Rush" guy, but more careful and with brakes. So I will share my experience on women from my point of view. Their behavior on the road is ok, yes, often they are unsure, but usually they do not create problems. Compared to taxi drivers (jackals!) and psycho rush hour office clerks they are not dangerous. The only exclusion are young and middle aged women on offroad cars. They did not pay for these cars, and they behave aggressively and stupidly. Male drivers of offroad cars are very reasonable and predictable, but not their wives. They kinda feel like alpha females only because they fuck with alphas, but they lack the needed qualities - you can't be alpha on your will. Overall, male drivers are more dangerous.

Women drivers are not evil. Men drivers are not evil. Unfortunately, too many people think they can multi-task when driving whether its a phone, looking for directions or doing make up etc. People need to focus on one thing when driving but they lack the willpower or concentration to do this and inevitably, mistakes occur.

Nowadays with more vehicles on the road including cyclists, motorbikes, sand/dune buggies you need eyes in the back of your head to see everything going on around you. I've even seen a tank on the road. I'm glad I never ran or cut across one of those. :)

Probably something like
Are women superior to men?

  1. Yes
  2. Yes
  3. Yes
  4. No because I'm a garbage human being

That's the "correct" way to talk about women nowadays.

Thought to be fair, the "Nah" and "Meh" options in your poll don't exactly make a whole bunch of sense given the question, so there's that ;)

Since this state was one of the first to legalize marijuana, it is now overpopulated with the stupidest people behind the wheel I have ever seen in my life! And it isn't just women. In recent years, I now see more female drivers talking on their cell phones; equal amount of male and female drivers looking down at their cell phone and not paying attention to the road (sadly, I have seen several male motorcyclists do this too); mostly all male drivers weaving in and out of traffic like it's the Indy 500 (highways, residential roads... doesn't matter where it is when traffic is elevated), driving on sidewalks and highway shoulders (if driving a motorcycle) and cutting people off because they're in a friggen hurry to get to the red stop light a few seconds faster; and about the same (gender-wise) of drivers charged with hit and run accidents and speeding.

Well, a woman hit my new car in an empty parking lot three weeks after I bought it. Is it a gender issue? Certainly not. But from my over 14 years of driving experience, women seem to be more prone to making driving "mistakes".
