Played a lot of those "Quest" games when I was a kid, loved them.
Especially the Police Quest series were awesome.

Well, there was Kings Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest, The Black Cauldron and of course Lazy Larry.

Leisure Suit Larry, you mean?
Also, the recently-revived Gabriel Knight games were also Sierra ones, and very good!

Now now, I am playing games for over 18 years now, but in my childhood I was more in to strategies and fps, never too much care for adventures, first encounter with The Secret of Monkey Island back in something like 91'-92' cant even remember, found it that is not for me at that time.
How time passes with my incrasing gaming skills and brain functions I started enjoying all variety of games.
Im writing this because Im in love with new King's Quest, and I didnt play it while I was a kid. BUT WAIT I found all parts and they are FREE.
Now I can catch up what I missed, and you can too if adventure games are your thing :)
OK ok ok here it goes :
King's Quest I
King's Quest II
King's Quest III
