One account for yourself, and one account for kid. Would second account count as alt?

I don't really understand this post. You start it by admitting that you have an alt account. You also admit you requested a coupon for both the main and the alt account. You even added that you explicitly knew beforehand that doing so will get you banned as per the group rules. And for some ungodly reason you are now saying you don't understand why were you banned.

Requesting Coupons for Alt-Accounts will get you BANNED!

I had no idea anyone would ever need to tell you this, but if you have 2 accounts one of them is an alt account

I did not request a coupon for any other account other than the one that requested it. I refute the term "alt" as I'm currently using both accounts equally.
This is why they're calling you "smart." You're playing a semantics game when you should well know what they meant. Clearly the intention of the rule is "one coupon per person." Your justification of using the accounts equally is flimsy at best, and then proceeding to register here for (it would seem) the sole purpose of slandering their group when you either don't understand or do not want to understand their rules does not speak well of you.

they had no idea he had 2 accounts thats like shooting a guy and then checking his body and saying he had a gun also having 2 accounts does not immediately make one alt one might have been say for a brother your kid a guest account for anyone who shows up

"Alt" accounts refers to a secondary account used for the primary purpose of being detached from the first one's identity. For example, someone smurfing in a competitive game, or needing a less valued account for cheating on. If somebody has two accounts but actually uses both of them without trying to conceal their identity nor 'farm' such places, then it isn't something that constitutes an abuse, which is what such rules are made to prevent. While the group in question would likely need evidence to show that it wasn't an outright attempt at farming, it shouldn't be an issue.
I can see both sides of this, but really the best way to avoid it would have been to contact an admin within the group to inquire as to whether they could go ahead with their plan (and explain the ins and outs)

You broke their rules and admitted as much to everyone here and on the other group. You can argue semantics all you want, but this seems pretty straightforward.

Since you just admitted to having multiple accounts, and your current one registered on Steamgifts 30 minutes ago,
i'm just gonna leave this Steamgifts rule here since you're pretty derpy when it comes to rules:
(Steamgift) Users are limited to one account per person
(I'm not pointing fingers, i'm just saving you from future trouble.)
Also, "Alt" just means an alternative account.
It doesn't mather if it's less, equally, or more used than the other, it's still an alt.

Thought this was a puzzle at first and probably spent time than I should admit looking for a solution. :/

i guess I should thank you for doing the hard work for me :p

Would be nice if the Coupon Dumpster was as clear. "Do not request coupons from multiple accounts."
You requested a coupon from your alt for your alt.
I did not request a coupon for an alt account. The account that requested the coupon wanted the coupon.
I'm sorry you feel cheated...
C'est la vie.
You even added that you explicitly knew beforehand that doing so will get you banned as per the group rules.
That's not how I interpreted their rule. It seems to me the rule is intended to stop people from requesting a coupon from one account, and then using it on a second account. That's not what I did. I sent two requests, but from different accounts, fully intending to buy two copies of the game. Why is that such a big violation?

Alternate accounts or multiple accounts are synonymous. I don't understand how much clearer it could be,
I did not request a coupon for an alt account. The account that requested the coupon wanted the coupon.
The account was still an alt account, no matter where you planned on using the coupon.

they did phrase it poorly you must admit but the problem here is thats not what they banned him for they just wanted him gone and made up reasons to do it
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't know if it was phrased differently before, but currently it's quite clear.
Requesting Coupons for and with Alt-Accounts will get you BANNED!
That being said, having a smart-ass trying to argue the definition of an alternate account I would want him gone too.

If I was an admin I would be more concerned about making sure we weren't about to lose a contributing member without hearing them out. Sometimes dumb stuff happens due to dumb reasons, even where people's intents are cool. Throwing down aninstant ban for a first-offense where the mistake was honest isn't a great way to go about things, and neither is having admin who would ban 'just because I want them gone, for trying to speak their side of it'. :P

He didn't get an instant ban, as Biowizard said he earned that ban after flipping his lid in the chat room and posting hateful comments on the group page because he couldn't get the coupons he wanted.
Comment has been collapsed.
Huh. It seems that had nudged off the page. Then again, I never assume I would see the involved group / moderators coming to defend their corner personally, so I never go looking for it.
It makes sense that the angry comment on the front of the group would incur a punishment, but still, semantics and clarity can be important when it comes to rules. I can't really speak on the tones either of them used, but generally saying "conversation over" to cut off someone who is making an impassioned defense of their intent / interpretation? That's usually a good way to sour things. Now it just sounds like an honest mistake that just slowly escalated during the discussion until it finally boiled over.
Ah well.

I alerted the one admin I have on my friends list, but I think someone would've given them a heads-up eventually. I guess that might make me a bit biased, but I've seen people trying to game CD exactly like this before and fess up pretty quick.
Wouldn't have bothered mentioning it, but the OP conveniently forgetting his second chance and all but stating he was insta-banned just didn't sit right with me. I do wish we had a screencap of that group chat conversation though...but something tells me this topic would be closed if that popped up.

So now you decided to also use alt account to register on SG so you don't have to write about your rule breaking from your main account? Thus also breaking SG rules and probably getting both your main and alt permabanned? Smart :D:

Then he's going to say: "Don't use Steamgifts, They are thieves. They make rules as they go along."

But is it really an alt account if both accounts want to use steamgifts equally?
I guess we will just have to wait and see if both accounts get banned equally...

I bet this thread is gonna get closed really soon. :(
I've noticed that new users love to close the thread as soon as they're done discussing whatever they wanted to discuss and/or get a majority of opinions they do not like...
I don't like that.
You never know if the reply you take the time to type will end up not posted as the thread got closed while you painstakingly tried to think of a polite response that would contribute to the discussion...
I had to say it... It's been bugging me for a while.
And yeah, I do understand the irony of this post not really contributing xD

I give my coupons in here http://steamcommunity.com/groups/gutscheine and I've never used the dumpster, but clearly you broke the rules.

I like to donate. It makes me feel great.
Don't be a fool. Read the rules!

If they say don't request a coupon for your alt that typically also means "don't try and circumvent the rule by getting a coupon for your alt by other means."
The point that they're ultimately trying to get across is that it's one coupon per person, not per account.
I guess if they said "don't request coupons for/from an alt account" or "one coupon per person" might be a little more clear. But still, if they said you can't get a coupon for your alt why would you think it'd be acceptable to do it from your alt?

I think you missed the first point of his post:
Here's the explanation they give for the banning:

Being a smart-ass and using profanity were just added charges.

The coupon dumpster group Permanently banned me cause i asked them for a coupon for a game that was on sale ...
I tried to explain to one of their nazi mods that even tho the game is on sale for -50% , a 75% off coupon is still better.
He then started to argue how stuff is not stacking ... and eventually banned me after i pointed out that 75% off is still better then 50% off ... and i dont asume stuff its stacking , i just wanted to save extra 5$ on the game ...
So yeah , fuck that group
Comment has been collapsed.
Most coupons can't be used while a game is on sale though. I've seen shady devs provide 90% coupons as drops from crafting badges and put their game 10% off so you can't use the coupon.
When a coupon doesn't stack, it's completely useless during a sale. Still, that's a silly reason for a ban.
Comment has been collapsed.
DO NOT ask for a coupon if the game is on sale already.
This is in their rules.
BioWizard is quite harsh usually, I give that though. But you also did something they specifically tell not to do…
Plus, well, if the game is on sale, the coupon will not work. At all. So even if they gave you that, it wouldn't have worked. It's in the Steam rules.

I checked our deleted posts, it would seem you were certainly the aggressor in this situation, not our "nazi" mod MakoSipper http://puu.sh/iZhqj/992931dde5.png

Not to mention they lied here, assuming that screenshot is genuine:
I tried to explain to one of their nazi mods that even tho the game is on sale for -50% , a 75% off coupon is still better.
On the date those posts were made, the game was on sale for 75% and the request was for a 50% off coupon, not the other way around.

While I disagree with the OP being banned over what could easily have been an innocent mistake (a smaller punishment would be way better, given it wasn't an attempt to farm or abuse), it's links like these that remind me of the kinds of attitudes admin / moderators have to face. With enough ungrateful or obnoxious people chipping away at your patience day in and day out, it makes sense that the less resilient of people will happily throw the book at even minor infractions.
Tired momma syndrome? :P
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, just had that pointed out.
Right now it just looks like an innocent mistake that escalated through the discussion until it eventually boiled over. They butted heads, and the dude went a step too far (lashed out) and got banned. Them's the breaks. Otherwise cool people can do dumb things once they've had a while to cook in a bickering session. Shame it ended that way, but oh well.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, 75% off is better than 50% off but STEAM and ONLY STEAM controls if a coupon is applicable with a sale. Coupon Dumpster has no control over the fact that STEAM does not allow coupons to be used instead of the sale price.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hmm.... are you more mad about the coupons, or that you can't enter any more of their GA's?
Cause, I was thinking about how Dying Light is 50% off, and that I might do a Coupon Dumpster exclusive GA for it.
It'd be a real shame if you missed out on that, but hey, if you got banned, you'll never know right?

I have two accounts on Steam and requested coupons in the Coupon Dumpster for each in order to buy the game twice. While they have this rule:
"Requesting Coupons for Alt-Accounts will get you BANNED!"
I requested the coupons through each account separately and intended to use the coupons on the accounts I requested them from. I did not request a coupon to use with a different alt account. When I asked them to point out the rule I broke, they just banned me. The fact I donated over 35 coupons to them recently was of no consequence to them.
Here's the explanation they give for the banning:
Reason 1. Requested coupons with main and alt account
Reason 2. Trying to be smart
Reason 3. Not reading the rules about profanity and insults "Do not give coupons to these guys. They are thieves, and make up rules as they go along."
1: I don't deny this, but at the time of this post, they have no specific rule against requesting a coupon from 2 accounts, only a rule against requesting a coupon for an alt account.
2: What? I guess they only want stupid people in their group?
3: Profanity? I made no such comments. As for being insulting, I'm sorry if the truth hurts, but they are nothing but thieves.
