After falling to the ground, my phone stopped recognizing both the sim card and the external memory.
I'm surprised by how useful a phone with only internet is nowadays!
I'm also very annoyed by how many services want me to confirm my identity by sending SMSs, as if that's failproof.

Anyone can easily create an infinite number of free burner emails, but a phone is slightly harder because most have to pay for it in some way. Not sure about free SMS services but sometimes those are invalid for confirmation purposes. It's not about being failproof but about having fewer dupe accounts, they aren't exactly doing it for you.

Nope. Inserted serial of the old sim that worked previously on their service... The one that worked even when they managed to move the contract from me to my ex-employer...

I think internet is fine. We are living in an era where phone calls and sms are getting less and less impactful anyway. And you can use authentication apps on your phone to do 2FA as well.

Just a heads up, phone or text based 2FA is super insecure due to SIM swapping and other attacks. You should use TOTP 2FA using an authenticator app instead, such as andOTP (open source), Authy or Google Authenitcator.
