Just got an XBOX controller for f-day.

Curious what games you prefer to use yours for. I wanted one to play the Batman series, Darksiders, and try out a few others.

Any suggestions on what you like?

The only controller I have is a wheel. I use it for Driver: San Francisco :)

I'm using an Xbox 360 controller and use it for fighting games. And some driving games.
I bought it for playing Overlord, and never used it for that...

Yep, I use the game pad for every game I can expect for shooters. The mouse is so great for shooters.

So far out of all my games I've only played Fairy Bloom Freesia with a controller. And by controller, I mean using my PSP as one

My Xbox pad is my default control method for games now. I get mad when a (non-RTS) game doesn't support it.

Favorites? Sleeping Dogs, Audiosurf, the Batman games as you said, Trine.

Thanks y'all (those that read the OP, lol)!

Anyone use it for shooters? Curious about Just Cause 2, Bioshock. Maybe Fable TLC. I'm thinking heavy inventoried stuff (Dragon Age) probably not great for? Maybe Mass Effect 2, though?

I may be finding some more platformers, though. Gotta run Psychonauts now. :)

They specifically removed controller support from the Mass Effect games when they ported them to PC (Don't ask me why). JC2 it's a little awkward because you can't aim the hookshot very well. Bioshock works very well, I can't speak for the others.

I recommend Key Board and Mouse for a better experience with Just Cause 2, A lot easier to grapple etc.

No gamepad support for Fable:TLC, but the PC controls are amazing.

i play all racing games using mine. I tried the batman games and it works just like it does on console, kb mouse works well enuff tho.
controller works well for Assassins creed games. also the Amazing Spiderman game plays very well with a controller.
deadlight is best with controller as well.

also many games can swap seamlessy between controller and keyboardmouse. like with batman games u can be using one and just change to the other with no problem, and by no prblem i mean you dont even have to pause the game you just pick it up and use it anytime you want. the on screen key prompts change too instantly.
I play defiance and i use keyboard for everything except when driving i just pickup the controller. works great

I stopped playing Batman because I was having such trouble trying to change directions well with the K&M controls. Didn't have that issue with most other games. Figured the controller would be easier for me. I think it will.

I had barely started City. Have since bought Asylum and am going to start over with it and the pad.

you know i have the same issue with the mouse and keyboard but i got some advice from a friend and it works a bit better, i feel like it could be throwing me off since i played thru both games on xbox first and am used to the controller. i was trying to use wasd to change direction but my friend told me to just spin the cam around with the mouse instead and use it to aim at who i want to attack. works better but i havent played much since then, marvel heroes came out and i am getting my superhero fix there for now.

Basically every game, it feels way more confortable for me to play on the pad. There's ofc a few ones that plays better on mouse/keyboard, like shooters and so.

I don't think I have a favourite game, but Racing and Sports games are usually easier to play with a controller.

Racing, sports, fighting, platformers, third person slow/medium paced action adventure which does not require precision aiming (like Assassin's Creed). Anything fast paced, first person, or requires high precision, it's all kb/m.

No, I wouldn't personally. Using a PS1 controller for console emulation mostly although I do prefer a pad with 16-bit RPGs, 2D/sidescrollers, platformers, driving & racing. Blocks That Matter is the last PC game I used the controller for.

I was thinking of buying a game pad. Should I go with a 360 controller? I'm not a fan of their D-pad, but the sticks are nice.

There are a couple good threads in here about it that led me to the 360 pad. Check 'em out. It seems to the be the best plug n play option.

I own this one. D-pad problem solved :) It's a genuine MS controller that's been modded rather than a knock-off.

I just picked up the Razer Sabertooth the other day, and I absolutely love it. It's $80, but if you grab it at a Microsoft store, you can do the Bing It On challenge and get $20 off. (yeah sounds dumb but you literally just do five searches and get a free coupon thing)

It works great for Batman! I use mine for most games. I've played Bioshock, Borderlands, Portal 1&2, Half Life, NFS games and Fallout 3 with my xbox controller, among others. The mappings aren't always great for Rockstar games but I haven't had any problems with the others. Most games nowadays have full controller support and change the on screen button commands in tutorials and quicktime events to reference the controller instead of the keyboard, which is good. I find the controller especially good for 3rd person games, a keyboard and mouse can get annoying when you've got different weapons and run/jump/dodge as well as camera control and general movement.
