Bump for awareness. I don't know of any games that relate about autism generally but the closest game I could fine related to this is https://store.steampowered.com/app/786410/An_Aspie_Life/ which is about Asperger's Syndrome.

Les 4 Alice: Lorange Journey also features autism and has "For Autism Awarenessโ€ฆ." in its description, so I guess it's pretty central in it.

Can't think of any games on this topic aside from To the Moon (I guess, autism is not as exciting as schizophrenia or depression), just wanted to say thank you for creating this thread.

I'm not familiar with any games but am on the autism spectrum myself. Asperger's Syndrome as they used to call it. I'll have to take a look at the games you linked. I find it interesting to see how others on the spectrum are portrayed in various media formats. ๐Ÿค”

I didn't even remember that it was awareness day TBH. I tend to keep my advocacy to the pain management & needs of chronic pain patients area. I only have so much energy to put into it sadly enough. As such I don't spend as much time on autism related causes. It's nice to see people bringing awareness to the topic. It's greatly appreciated. ๐Ÿ‘

Thanks for the post. ๐Ÿ™‚

My son is autistic, less high functioning than aspergers, but luckily he is learning to talk and read through much patience. it's something that is hard for other people to understand if they don't interact with people like him all the time, because he looks like a normal boy until he opens his mouth, or gets upset because some small thing has changed. Thanks for creating a thread. Have a bump and a blue heart

Yeah we suspected for a while before that, that he was not normal, but there's always a chorus of well meaning family and friends who try to reassure you that you're just being paranoid. But then he had a seizure and it was almost a blessing in disguise as it meant we had the concrete evidence to get all the tests done. So he is epileptic as well, which is actually pretty common apparently. But the epilepsy medicine works great, and once he started on the medicine we noticed straight away that he could retain what he learnt a lot more.
As far as the current crisis, thankfully my wife is able to homeschool him, so being at home is a normal day for him. He's a little put out that we can't go and visit family at the moment, but at least this is where his comfort zone is, and even the schoolwork is carrying on as normal.

It's posts like this that make one realize that not being able to go out to watch a movie or go bowling pales in comparison to what others have to worry about with regards to the restrictions caused by the current pandemic.

Thank you for sharing about your son. I hope you and your family remain safe and healthy!

Why not do inobvious movie recommendations while we are at it? I'd like to suggest The Specials, it's a recent French movie by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano (those awesome guys who've created The Intouchables) about socials workers who've dedicated their life to children with autism. Many of young actors here are actually autistic. My best friend's 10-year-old son is heavily autistic (meaning arrested development, missing phrasal speech, missing play as an activity, physical aggression often directed at himself and other fun stuff), and, well, what I've seen in this movie was pretty exact (but without shocking the viewer). It's sentimental, sure, but not over the edge. The movie is basically a social message, its creators wanted to show that another approach to such teenagers other than simply isolating them and heavily drugging them is possible, but it's also a pretty good movie out of Cannes program.

From what I've read, a lot of people did NOT like the season finale. I don't watch the show, so I can't say one way or the other what the ending is like.

Light Rider is an now Free to Play racing game that had a few fun levels when I reviewed it, at the time I think it was $1.99. It's made by autistic adults at the nonPareil Institute.

A good book to check out is Every Word Is a Bird We Teach to Sing: Encounters with the Mysteries and Meanings of Language. The author was diagnosed with high-functioning autistic savant syndrome as an adult.

I am potentially on the spectrum, I exhibit a lot of tendancies, so thanks for making the giveaways. I was actually going to get tested this year but then this fucking virus happened lol. Can honestly say I knew only about that Max game, its funny to see Steam have so little of something.

Supportive bump!

We can and should do a lot more societally to accommodate people on the spectrum and understand their needs. Temple Grandin's book Thinking in Pictures is an illuminating read, as she goes into detail about her own experiences with autism and how it has shaped her life. Highly recommended if anyone is looking for some insight.
