Contacting the place you got them from would be the best way to see if there's any region locking on the keys. If you do run into a key not working due to region issues, you'd either have to replace the key by some means (different source, steam gift, etc...) or take the 'not received'

Cheers. Might well do that.
The thing that made me think of it was browsing the gamefly (UK version) website earlier. They're doing some Max Payne promotion and I thought one of the games might make a nice gift. Then scrolling down the page it was saying that the game was only availabale for purchase in certain countries and had a big list. All the countries mentioned were European. Now I don't know if that was gamefly trying to make customers from certain countries use a particular version of their site or if it was because they were selling region locked keys.
Either way it made me think of it and I didn't buy as a result.

Read here how to use SteamDB, just skip the stuff about cut games. Look up the retrail entries for the games and look for your version, e.g. RU for Russia and so on. Most UK keys don't have any restrictions. Also you can just ask GMG support ;)

Thanks a lot. :)
Read and bookmarked for future reference.

If you're buying from UK/EU/US stores, you're pretty safe. There's maybe 5 games that when bought in USA can't be activated world-wide (I can recall Civilization 5 and Dead Island) and vice versa.
There were(are?) also some problems with activating Bethesda games in Central-Eastern Europe - because of some crazy publisher deals, games like Fallout New Vegas or Rage couldn't be activated when bought from outside of that regions.

So in the past couple of weeks I've bought a few keys from online game stores for the specific purpose of giving away on here. Region locks didn't enter my head until today.
Could I run into problems with the winner of one of my giveaways potentially being unable to activate their gift?
If so, how do I go about avoiding these issues?
So far I've given away Batman AA GotY (from GMG UK) and Lego Batman (from GetGamesGo UK) and the winners didn't face any issues. Got a soon-to-be ending giveaway open for DMC4 (another from GMG UK) and the last thing I'd want is for the winner to be unable to activate the game.
Is there a way to check these things on steamdb or something?
Sorry for the noob questions.
