I sometimes see in my timeline a spike of people buying a certain game, to find they are getting removed, and i am a collector too in that aspect, so i thought why not create a special thread for it, so other people can know too?
This thread is only going to be about agames facing direct pending deletion on concrete information, not speculations on possible licensing stuff, there are other places for that. By all means if you find something with concrete info about a deletion, let me know so i can add it.

Pending deletion (Old): I removed all of these that were pending for months, some even from february, even some in the new section should have been long gone, like from the developer ILLUSION. Seems not everyone takes their closing serious.

For those who want to know what already is removed check this: https://steam-tracker.com/ sort on changed and scroll down.

As to finding it individual on a store page, i dunno either. Guess at event pages, wherever that is.

Usually the latest news is shown on store page (below price and before description), can't verify right now, since invisible in Germany. But you can also use the menu on the right side "Similar news" or go to the hub.

I think it would be helpful to make a distinction between the various types of "removed" games:

  • Delisted: Apps that have been removed from Steam store (usually you can still access the community hub).
  • Purchase disabled: Apps that still have store pages up but cannot be purchased anymore.
  • Banned: Apps that were delisted from Steam store for policy violation (review manipulation, scams, etc.). Not even visible in the Steam API.

There are other edge cases like:

  • Limited: Apps not available for purchase everywhere, i.e regional restrictions.
  • Open sub: Apps that were delisted (no store page), but can still be purchased from a sub page (e.g NBA 2K15)

The following site tracks tracks these sort of things: https://steam-tracker.com/

Hey, thanks for the input, my goal was to have some kinda of quick cheat sheet, to show which games would get removed immediately or soon, no matter what, because devs often posted clearly they just would.
I often got people in my activity feed buying all together certain games which usually becomes a sign something gets deleted soon and thus let people buy them quickly when they still can, why i also don't bother with "maybe deletions" such as those hanging on licenses..

I personally don't care for the reasons why they get deleted, and there are other sites such as ones you named that would track all that information for those that care.

Personally i also thought maybe some people would pitch in also helping saying that this or that game might also get removed soon, but maybe there isn't much interest in this thread, and i am also not good with formatting tables such as sensualshakti can, to make such a thing much more presentable.

I'm definitely interested in this kind of information. If I hear something about a soon to be removed game, I will post here.

Yes there is definitely interest in such lists especially for collectors, and there are some existing efforts mentioned above (RemGC group, Games-at-risk curator, etc.).

Probably you're right, how and why a game is getting removed is less important, so my suggestion is ignoring games that already pulled the plug and were removed, and only keep track of ones soon to be removed.

:)

Yeah, and i also will keep those groups in check, but the downside of such groups unfortunately are also they included maybe deletions, because of licensing stuff (which include a lot), and the game might not even get deleted or still takes months, therefor i am not taking those in, those that are interested in those can still visit the groups offcourse.
For me personally it's where it's atleast somehow validated by an announcement.

Yeah the removed list part i also keep trimmed, i guess i am showing it for those interested to see what they possibly have missed, but after a year or so it would become very long, so i will delete stuff in the future from it, or maybe remove it alltogether still, still thinking about that.

Cheers. :)

https://store.steampowered.com/app/868770/Saint_Kotar_The_Yellow_Mask/

this is just a demo, the full game comes out on october 28. still a shame when demos get removed around release.

But huh, a demo that cost 8 euro?
More like a version they weren't pleased with as far as i know, and the other one is gonna be a "remaster" or i am wrong.

[Edit] Well yeah it seems it is sort of is a demo, but still 8 euro?

it never cost money or at least didn't at some point as my son did some grab all free games or something and has this and never traded or bought it

“Saint Kotar: The Yellow Mask is a mystery prologue that is FREE, creepy, and so unique!”
The Escapist Magazine

But it is 8 euro now, if it's to scare of customers from buying it they should have put a higher price or put it f2p, it seems weird.

that's the supporter pack dlc, not the game.

Now i see then i made a mistake, but it doesn't show that it's a DLC on the store page of the game itself, instead of having said DLC: supporters pack, that made it a bit confusing (and why still allow a DLC for a "demo"?), still a first i seen this.
A demo should be a free playable tryout to a game, nothing more, nothing less, that's what demos used to be atleast.

It's also usually not my tendency to have demos in my collection, but it showed as owned.

I saw it on https://store.steampowered.com/curator/31857481-Games-at-risk-of-removal/ so why i jumped the gun on it, anyway it's removed, so thanks.

it's a demo but steam lets 'prologues' and shit be published as regular games, not just a download link on the store page. it gives more exposure to developers from what I understand, people can review them, it counts as +1 for idiots who care about such nonsense, etc. and since it's considered a proper app of its own, dlc is also allowed, but it clearly doesn't have any actual content, so it doesn't make the demo any less free.

it's advertising for an upcoming or already available game, everybody needs money and the devs were still working on the full game when they made the demo available, plus nobody's forcing you to buy the dlc, nor will you miss anything by not having it. other free (full) games do the same, look up picross touch or big klondike.

I'm curious to see if on a new version they are going to include the originals or if they will have an "original" cheat :P

But to be removing them from the store so soon I'm guessing they are going for a before X-mas release.. :D

Seem like they are replacing it with newer stuff and moving old one to ingame sales... Still at least those packs are mostly junk in meta last time I played.
