I sometimes see in my timeline a spike of people buying a certain game, to find they are getting removed, and i am a collector too in that aspect, so i thought why not create a special thread for it, so other people can know too?
This thread is only going to be about agames facing direct pending deletion on concrete information, not speculations on possible licensing stuff, there are other places for that. By all means if you find something with concrete info about a deletion, let me know so i can add it.

Pending deletion (Old): I removed all of these that were pending for months, some even from february, even some in the new section should have been long gone, like from the developer ILLUSION. Seems not everyone takes their closing serious.

On September 20th they posted an update patch 1.1.0 which also mentioned that they were working on a new mode for the game. Then the next update on October 3rd all of a sudden they announced they were stopping the sale. I don't think it has to do with money. It seems like maybe there was a falling out between the team members or maybe it had something to do with copyrights. When I tried to see what I could find I saw there was "Scorching Ping Pong Girls" which is a Japanese cartoon. I wonder if maybe there was a cease and desist or something a long those lines... of course I'm just speculating based on a couple things in their last post.

We are very sorry, because there have always been some problems in the team's operation, and it has been unable to solve it after many effort.

Then it mentions this..

We are also very saddened by this last resort.

Yeah, i would add all games, but then again not sure if a pvp mmorpg goes dead and not playable at all anymore, what's the use of still trying to get it, but it's free so i'll guess i add them both.

Thanks.

Skald looks nice btw.

Most of the people who play Forsaken World are on the Arc client. I played it a long time ago, but I don't believe I did any pvp. I'm pretty sure there's a lot of pve content.

Atari Vault(Steam DB) - It looks like it may be re-sold as something different/somewhere else in the near future?

To All of Our Fans

We are thankful for all the support throughout the years for the Atari Vault, one of the finest collections of Atari classic games around. At this time we will be retiring the Atari Vault on Steam and this Community Hub as well. Please find us at the new Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration pages, where we will continue to honor these games from yesteryear and forge ahead into the future.

It is not Game Over but Game On….

Sincerely
Atari

Wait, a community hub can be removed?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, that's what it says, but I've never actually heard of that, myself. My guess is that they'll simply stop monitoring/adding to it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Oh yeah, that makes more sense. I was just confused because the community hub usually remains after the store page is taken down, but now that I re-read it I'm noticing that it says "retired" and not "removed" so simply abandoning it is a more likely interpretation of it.

Hey everyone, its with a heavy heart that i have to announce we are removing The Videokid from the steam store. Since we released way back in 2017, the team has since disbanded and unfortunately the game doesn't bring in enough revenue to continue paying the developers to update and keep up with all the windows updates. There are some fixes posted in this thread but we were never able to find out what was causing the latest bugs related to windows updates. Newer users have reported it gets stuck at the loading screen so we did not want to keep the game live if it has major bugs like that.

Could be, dunno why they do such practices as it seems for the rest like a legit company with their other games.

Not like that one company some weeks ago that put an open source game on steam for sale.

Ok found these links.

Not actually explained in that review but it is on the Zoom platform here https://www.zoom-platform.com/product/judge-dredd-1995

And there is this https://twitter.com/zoomplatform/status/994438086548373504

So now it makes a bit more sense.

That i figured, i learned about zoom last week when i noticed they got some stuff steam and gog not have.

My question is why Throwback/Majesco would burn their hands willingly on it, or not atleast cut out the stuff (which seems to have been edited in later?).

Sometimes it's handy to also just sometimes watch your friends activity list, if you see a mass influx of people buying a certain game, it's usually for that reason (unless it becomes a meme like Cookie Clicker).
Or even more on top (will be more updated then here) https://store.steampowered.com/curator/31857481-Games-at-risk-of-removal/ although that includes every game with license sensitive stuff, which can be even removed after 10 years so i won't add those here.

It might be worth pointing out that the legacy edition isn't the free version currently being offered on Steam but rather an old version with 32 bits support that hasn't been updated since 2019 (that's what it says on the article you linked), so it's no longer going to be available for 32 bits systems but it will still be available for 64 bits ones (and that includes the free version on Steam I presume).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I looked into it further and Steam doesn't have 32 bit support so it's not going to affect The Sims 4 on Steam.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I just want to clarify for this and the OP that Legacy Edition is not exactly a "free ediion", and not actually called that in any shape or form and shouldn't be simplified as such. There's much more nuance than that.

LE was the original 32bit version of the game that people originally paid for. It became "free" in later times; the situation of which was that the then-current 32bit version was getting deprecated from development, yet distributed for "free" (which is sort of a misnomer even if you're gonna get pedantic about it) to install alongside the 64bit version that's being used now and that was the arrangement up until now. The only thing that was actually free and was to be swept up with this was the CAS demo.

This is only happening now because the base game of the 64bit version is going F2P, which would make this completely confusing to simplify this with saying "free edition" in the context of a thread that is about games with pending removals, as that is here to stay for now.

Permalink

Right, I removed it after looking into it further. Steam only has 64 bit support, so it's not going to affect anything with the Steam version.

He is always the best way for me to see when a game could be removed so i can add it to this thread. :p

I got almost 11000 games (and 2100 given away) also no small future, when for a long time i hadn't always an income, but i had tremorgames for a while, and if i buy something i always buy smart (sale or keyresellers). So you don't always have to be loaded, but yeah some seemingly don't care about their money.
Most now are more focussing on struggling being able to pay their groceries/rent/gas/electricity..Just surviving.

No, i wish he would notify me or post here, i never even knew that a game would be removed from your activity feed until today when i saw it with myself (or isn't that just new)?

No, but usually i can see before hand what he buys, especially if it's just 1 game or a handfull rather then the 30-40 he buys, it's usually a sign it's a game that will atleast be removed soon.

Not that i check activity feeds every day, i am also afraid to spend too much on games i now shouldn't (like i already got Fuser). :x
