Just wondering, as per the norm, what your favorite game(s) are by genre.
For me, I'd say that-
FPS-
DOOM (2016)
Singularity

RPG-
Might and Magic 6
Final Fantasy 6
Titan Quest

Sports-
Not a big fan of these but
Super Mega Baseball (Need the second one)

Strategy-
Sim City franchise

Shooter (not sure if this counts) -
Raiden franchise

Fighting games-
Guilty Gear franchise
BlazBlue franchise

Platformer-
Super Metroid
Dust An Elysium Tale

That's all I can think of right now. What's your favorite by genre?
Also, for what you all have REALL come here for, the small GA's I promised.

Adventure games: The Cat Lady, Grim Fandango, Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within

RPG: The Witcher 3 (obvious, I know), Planescape: Torment, The Banner Saga

Logic: Gorogoa

Action-adventure or something like that: Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

And that's probably it, my genre preferences are not really diverse.

FPS:
Borderlands
Half-Life 1&2

RPG:
Oblivion
Baldur's Gate 1&2

Sports:
I don't play it anymore, but spent a lot of time in Championship Manager 2/3/4/'04

Strategy:
Factorio
The Settlers 3. I'd be over the moon if they remastered it with modern AI. I still sometimes play this and setup 6-7 AI players to play in alliance against me. Maybe someone has suggestions how to scratch that itch? :)

Fighting games:
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3

Platformer:
Risk of Rain
LIMBO

Point'n'click:
Edna & Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes
Indiana Jones & The Fate of Atlantis

Adventure:
AER Memories of Old
Jazzpunk

+1 to Arcanum. I LOVED that game. Especially some of the wacky backgrounds such as Beat with the Ugly Stick (which ironically was a weapon I used in the original Guild Wars :P ) and Nietzsch Poster Child.

Non-PC Games
JRPG

  1. Dragon Quest 8 (Played the hell out of the demo disk, then finally got the real one on Black Friday Sale for $10)
  2. Final Fantasy 10 (My first Final Fantasy game so can't help nostalgia. Musical soundtracks we're addicting)
  3. Breath of Fire 2 (The translation is bad, but who cares, you can turn into a dragon. Gonna replay this with the new retranslation patch)
  4. Mario and Luigi (Finally a game where Luigi shares the spotlight with his brother. A very decent rpg)
  5. Shadow Hearts 2 (The story and characters are just so funny, yet dark and tragic at the same time)
  6. Dark Cloud 2 (love the item invention system involving shooting your camera around town. Love how you can catch and raise fish or make them fight each other. Also, you can level up your fishing rod. Don't really like the golf mini-game though)

Japanese Roguelike

  1. Azure Dreams (Monster raising, tower diving, town building, and a little bit dating sim)
  2. Breath of Fire 5: Dragon Quarter (Hiring ants to dig and watch your stores while you battle monsters using traps, bait, and combos)

PC Games

Simulation

  1. Stardew Valley (so much to do. Fish, mine, battle monsters, cook, farm, chat with neighbors, do side quests, and there is an endgame)

Roguelike

  1. Moonlighter (Dungeon diving, town building, running a shop, also the different item curses makes looting a bit of a puzzle)
  2. Death Road to Canada (Kind of also belongs in the simulation, but definitely more Roguelike. Random areas, random characters, random events, even 100+ hours in I haven't seen all the different random characters/events)
