I had my eye on this game for a while when it was on mobile but never got to downloading it as mobile games just aren't for me
(why play on a phone when I can play on a PC)

Well now my opinion has changed as the game is available on Steam, so go get Yu-Gi-Oh fans!!!
http://store.steampowered.com/app/601510/

The game is a bit of a downgrade from the usual format, seeing as you only have 4000LP and ... only 3 monster and 3 spell/trap card zones...
But hey it's free and a Yu-Gi-Oh game so still worth it.

Played it on mobile for a while, It's an alright game but I still prefer the full fledged Yu-gi-oh games that have an actual story mode.

Because they cost way more to make than random battles after random battles.

I really miss the old "Shandalar" MtG game. If only modern card games had a story mode like that (randomized world, dungeons, bosses)... :/

I loved the anime and the TCG. They have had mini events that so you can relive the story/anime Duelist Kingdom and it plays like a board game style. I'd pop in for those!

The game released a few hours ago if I'm not mistaken so then the first few who played maybe used achievement hacks ???

thought so, but store page states about 5k players.. I doubt everyone of them used cheats..
not so important anymore though, as percentages are falling to more realistic values :)

No cheats. The Google Play Games achievements imported directly to Steam, both services have the same achievements which are attached to your Konami ID (which you use to sync your progress between mobile and other devices). Once you enter your Konami ID to the Steam version of the game, all the achievements you unlocked in mobile will unlock on Steam. For example, I still need to get 2 last achievements, I have been playing for a year on mobile.

Forbidden Memories hasn't aged too well with its duels, but I too have many fond memories of it (particularly the story and style). Another good old Yu-Gi-Oh game I loved was The Duelists of the Roses on PS2, even if it is quite the non-standard Yu-Gi-Oh game :P

I've been playing a fan-translated version of ARC-V Tag Force Special on my phone with a PSP emulator. If you're interested in a YGO game with a (kind of) full-fledged campaign and a lot of cards, I'd recommend you check it out. Also, if you're a fan of YGOTAS you'll be able to spot some references here and there :)

The best YuGiOh game I've played was The Sacred cards one of the GBA, only crappy side is that it works with elements as well :( so oh if you use a water monster with say 500ATK against a fire monster with 3000ATK the water one will just win, apart from that bullshit logic it was a good game

this brand brings back so many good memories. in middle school period had lots of cards, during recess me and the buddies used to gang up all around a school desk and play, often even betting a few money. unfortunatelly one day i left the schoolbag unattended and i got all of my cards stolen sighh

will definitely give it a try.

Damn!!!!!!! That must have sucked :( my sympathies, I scored on the other hand.

I had a friend who was a jerk and was just really using me in order to swim but I didn't notice it, we played YuGiOh together and shared out cards, then he left it all by me the one day and we just drifted apart and never talked again. I came out of that "friendship" with what 900 cards so hell yeah!

Choosing 5 monster card mixes to see if anything fused, or throwing out half your deck because all you need is the couple on good cards you had in there. i remember that well.

My entire game strategy was as follows

  • Beat zombie guy over and over until you have 3 / 4 copies of Pumpking the King of Ghosts (4th for deck leader if you want a slight boost)
  • Build otherwise weak low cost zombie deck around those
  • Watch as Pumpking cards power up your guys endlessly
  • Beat everyone

Pumpking the King of Ghosts (DOR)

My deck cost was low enough that I never had to change my deck for weak people, while strong enemies that would allow me to use a higher deck cost still had little chance when a Pumpking or two was boosting my Attack / Defence stats to 9900 each (though if I couldn't pull one after 10 turns, I'd have problems in harder levels, the rest of my deck was weak to keep cost low). They really screwed up that card when it comes to balance. The original card has different rules than the version in The Duelists of the Roses. It can only boost itself, and only for 4 turns.

That sounds almost like that game would be worth a play for me I always loved that Pumpking card and tried to build a deck around him in different yugioh games. They all sucked. It actually being good would be like a dream coming true. xD

Great game and like Delta, it was one of my favourites as well.

My strat involved Mystical Elf spam since she was easy to make (2 low cost fairy types) and she has a +800 buff to all light monsters when flipped. Since the game also had a bunch of buff cards you could equip to her, you could have a field of Elfs with a min 4k attack roaming the board.

Don't take my word for granted but that may be "not so wrong".

I started reading the manga years ago and they never played with cards (perhaps once/twice); instead they played all kind of different games (I remember a game at some sort of DnD with little models of themselves, which this game reminded me of).

I've never finished reading it though, so cards may assume an important role in the latter part of the story :)

Includes story campaigns for each generation I think.

I had my eyes on that for quite some time, problem is it costs money and has aloooooot of DLC content, and I want it all!!!

So will have to wait for a massive sale XD.

That game is better than this new free one because the free one is a cut-down version with only 3 monster zones and 3 magic/trap zones ... instead of the usual 5, so yeah ... I am disappoint :(

Only downside for Legacy of the Duelist are the cards in the DLCs are not available in the main game, so 648 cards of the 7840 total are DLC locked.

That was made because the mobile market tends to favor fast paced games. But recently Konami made a survey to see if we would like to see the Standard TCG rules and gameplay on this game. Hopefully they will implement it so we can have both.

To the people wondering about how in the world do many players have already almost all if not all achievements:

The Google Play Games achievements imported directly to Steam, both services have the same achievements which are attached to your Konami ID (which you use to sync your progress between mobile and other devices). Played it on mobile for awhile, the microtransactions are actually pretty fair compared to most games. I never felt like I needed to buy packs.
Uninstalled it because I stopped playing it. Was super casual.

Also has an auto play mode, which is weird.

i did try it and i loved it but on pc they need to update it we need 5 slots not 3 and more LP

On smartphones the game runs in portrait mode, first I thought that was bad as I always played on landscape like ds and psp.
But on portrait it's good to read and the it's very comfortable too I have a 5.5 screen smartphone
Changing 3 to 5 would not only mess it, but mess with some decks.
Some decks got already messed up btw.
Cards like mage power got a bit under powered with that but this is great for this card. 5 slots and mage power/maha vailo is more than overkill.
This would ruin the the competitive mode that is going "good" for now we have cancer decks anyway, but still there is a way to counter them
3 slots is good for "fast" competitive duels imo.

One change that I would love to see is from players who doesn't know how to lose. Would be awesome if they just lose or surrender instead of cutting their connection, the loses is counted on the same way btw. I'm seeing so many o people doing this when they lose on World C.2018.
