Today, Steam has region-blocked all games that are marked as adult-only on the German store. When attempting to access the store page of such games the following message appears:
"Such Content is not allowed in your country"
For those not aware of German laws, pornography is of course allowed in Germany. However, a 'strong' age-verification is required by law - so that children may not access pornography. Steam's enter-date-of-birth age-verification is not considered as 'strong enough" and as such Steam offering adult games in Germany is technically not legal.
Instead of offering a 'strong' age-verification Steam has now decided to nuke all adult games in the biggest gaming market in Europe.
This is a major escalation of censorship for all German Steam users.

Frankly, it's on the German government, not on Steam. Germany requiring privacy invasion of everyone in order to prevent underage people from seeing boobs - while gore violence is perfectly OK. Seems like they're following into the US footsteps 🤔

The affected games partially show explicit sex scenes, BDSM etc., not just boobs.

If you don't, briefly showing your ID to a guy is waaaayy different from sending your ID over the Internet to a big database. That's why they made the GDPR.

For this case we have something called PostIdent here. For this verification method you have to go to a post office and show your ID there. VoD providers use them, e.g. Also identification via video chat (without recording ofc) is a way.

That's an issue with all laws and rules. You always have to set up a certain limit. If it was worded like "if the person seems mature enough", who should be able and have the time to assess it first? And decisions would always look arbitrary.
I don't disagree with you regarding killing/sex, but the "enter your birthday" thingie literally screams for faking it. I guess at least 25% of the entered birthdays are on January 1st. :D

Verstehe solche Aussagen wie deine und die vom moppelmurks immer nicht wirklich. Also Nacktheit und Sex ist für euch nervig und ja ach so böse... Aber Mord, Totschlag, Zerstückelte Körper etc. sind absolut kein Problem? Sehe ich nicht wirklich einen Sinn hinter... Es sollte beides erlaubt sein und keiner sollte sich an beidem stören. Ihr könnte je betreffende Tags einfach direkt ausschließen als eine Möglichkeit.
Problem ist eher das Kinder unter 18 Zugriff auf alle Spiele haben, da ist es meiner Meinung nach völlig egal obs geballer oder rum gebumse ist..

Dies könnte sich auch auf die FSK18 Shootergames ausweiten und schon gleich ganz andere Ausmaße annehmen.
Die Pornogames sind mit egal, es geht darum das jegliche Gamestores die keine ausreichend starken Altersverifizieringsmaßnahmen haben, jegliche deutsche Jugend-Gesetzgebungen einzuhalten haben, damit unter 18jährige keinen Zugriff auf eben Pornogames & Gewaltgames haben können/dürfen.
Ähnlich die DMCA Rechte auf Twitch und YT zurzeit regelmässig in Thema stehen.
Sollte man da am Ball bleiben, denn ohne jegliche Maßnahmen von den jeweiligen Plattformen , sind wir alle fürs Gesetz unter 18 jahre alt und leiden alle gleich vom "Verlust" der Medien jeglicher Art gleich mit.

Already happened yesterday, but nonetheless good to post it here as well. Also the SteamDB link is helpful. Other than that steamprices.com offers a search for unavailable games in your country, too.
In the morning there were still two possibilities to buy these games. Since there is no new config (no purchase restricted), gifts and keys should also still work. AAAs should be less affected or not for long, since they can afford the fee to get a verification by FSK. Indie games are another thing though.

Man kann die Spiele immer noch über sub-seiten (z.B. Agony UNRATED) oder die Wunschliste (sogar die Wunschliste von Freunden) kaufen. Man muss es nur in den Warenkorb bekommen, dann kann man es auch kaufen. Allerdings wird das vermutlich auch bald von Valve behoben.
You can still get such games through their sub sites or through your wishlist (even friend's wishlist do work). As long as you can get them into your shopping basket you can still buy them. But it's probably only a matter of time till valve fixes this.

Gibt auch noch die Möglichkeit sich diese von anderen schenken zu lassen. Oder n zweiten Account mit VPN (ja ist verboten, also vorher überlegen ob man das wirklich machen will) erstellen in nem anderen Land und sich diese Spiele einfach selbst schenken. Funktioniert beides ohne Probleme.

Hmmm... i still can see these titles, but the thing is that i live in Germany from around 1 year and my store isn't Germany store and it's the previous one, maybe because of that ... i don't really know if thats a problem and do i need to change it, but still making mostly my purchases via the card in the other country... any ideas if that's a problem and it's a must change?

All those filthy H-games with no class are better being removed for every country cos they suck anyway. Sometimes i see a friend buy some of them and sometimes i block them because of it. Both links show me the "This content is not allowed in your country." message, so it seems the games aren't accessible here in Germany right now.

Im Steam-Client finde ich die nicht.
Ich habe mal Cyndy testhalber gekauft. Im Client verweigert er mir die Shopseite.
Im Browser bin ich bei Steam eingelogt und trotzdem zeigt er mir sie an.
Einstellungen:
Alle Produkttypen
Alle vier Haken unter "NICHT JUGENDFREIE INHALTE"
Keine Tags ausgeschlossen
Nichts ignoriert
Und Warnungen vor Nacktheit und Gewalt ausgeschaltet.
Habe auch mal mit jemandem aus Aachen gesprochen, der konnte z.B. VR Paradise kaufen,
daß eigentlich schon im letzten Jahr nicht mehr zugänglich war.

Im Client werden mir beide Spiele nicht angezeigt, wenn ich die Titel im Suchfeld eingebe. Und eingeloggt im Browser bekomme ich halt den obrigen Hinweis.
Einstellungen sind identisch, abgesehen vom ausgeschlossenen 'Bullet Hell' Tag. Warnungen habe ich ebenfalls ausgeschaltet.
Keine Ahnung warum wir also unterschiedliche Ergebnisse haben. schulterzuck

At this very moment every "Adults Only"-Game (S*x-/Pron-related content) gets updated - you can check it live via SteamDB - and after the update those games are no longer visible in the german Steam Store and can no longer be bought.
I have no information if any Steam Store of any other country is also affected by this.
