uh. this is maybe the first time i'm completely clueless about a Chez Jatan Restaurant delicatessen . (i'm also kinda tracking you with Gmaps as you move, and Borikén looks a unique -location and- place : purto-rican-rustic-chic sounds veryvery good )
so, i can only guess the taste from colors, only eyes are involved to help the tongue taste something from those pixels... :D
looks sweet, give me vibes of an ice-cream... but really hard, still.
only one question: about the wooden cup i'm seeing, does the food is just put in that cup (touching the wood) or there's, say, some glass between food and the wood?
ouch. ...hard wake up this morning... sorry peeps :P

The serving cup is actually the mortar they use to grind up the cassava and plantains.

The closest I food I can think of is mashed potatoes, but the texture is completely different. Chunky rather than smooth. You can make it yourself, I'm sure there are plantains in specialty stores near you :P

Trifongo from Borikén Restaurant. A variant of Puerto Rican Mofongo - a mix of mashed cassava, green plantain, and yellow plantain. Surprisingly delicious.
