For some reason, I will probably buy Batman: Arkham Knight, even though I may not even play it a lot.
Looking at the specs, a i7-3770 3.4GHz is needed, for recommended, while I have a i5-4670 3.4GHz.

All I need is a simple answer, what is better in performance?

i5-4670.

only because of the higher generation. if they were in the same generation, (i7-3770 v. i5 3670) then the i7 would be better in performance

Generation doesn't directly mean higher performance; usually the bottom end of a newer generation is weaker than the upper end of a previous generation. In this case, the i7-3770 is actually slightly higher performance, because it has a larger L3 cache. However, this is not a particularly significant metric, and there are slight efficiency gains per generation on firmware/driver ends and architecture shifts, so the i5-4670 should have sufficient performance given that it has the same number of cores and clock speed; any differences should be close to insubstantial. I wouldn't worry about tech specifications for running things, because there's not a huge difference, but the earlier gen CPU is in this case superior by a slight margin.

Yeah, but if you're just going for a real-short answer, i5-4670 because of the same number of cores + clock speed (clock speed, I am not too sure about but maybe) but the i7 does have a slight larger cache.

Basically around the same.

Off-Topic: I always think you're Delta because of your profile pic.
Now, to your question. Sorry, I have no idea.

Well, there is nothing similar between aCAssassin's picture and DeltaBladeX's picture...
One is Dark Magician Girl from Yu-Gi-Oh and the other is Rikku from Final Fantasy, but ok ^^
Now on-topic, the answer is simple, i7-3770 has better performance, u can compare them on intel website, but i think u will be able to play your game with your current cpu...

I know. It's just that the little square is small enough and the pictures similar enough to make me mistake them.

If you have i5-4670, and were looking ti get i7-3770 - you will also need to change your motherboard. One you have uses LGA 1150, and i7 you mentioned uses LGA 1155 (it is outdated, compared to 1150)

btw, for Batman:AK your cpu should be good enough. It is 50% faster that Core i5-750 which was mentioned for minimum requirements.

i5 is fine. Recommended specs are always hyped by at least 20%.

Batman, like 99% of other games most likely won't make use of any hyperthreading, which is the only advantage the i7 would offer over the i5. And with every generation, Intel CPU's IPC usually increase 5-10%, so 4670 @ 3.4ghz will be(albeit somewhat marginally) stronger than the 3770.

They are pretty much equivalent in the end, i wouldn't worry about buying a new CPU. Not to forget that specs are usually hyped. SAme goes with gpus.

In performance, they're almost equal, but the i7 has the clear advantage here. More threads (up to 8) than the 4 threads for the i5 allows the i7 (even if it is from a year/generation before) more processor power to handle more jobs at the same time, especially with an extra 2 MB of cache. As for the game, a high-end i5 should be enough, though. Make sure you have enough RAM and a good video card for it.
