My first FTL win

It takes some getting used to but once you figure out a strategy for destroying the ship you can do it pretty much every time.

Congrats! It can be pretty tough so don't feel too bad. I had an old thread now closed, but you can still read it, that had a lot of strategies and advice from others. If you want to get some tips to make the game a little easier next time, it might be a good place to go.

The game is based on a bit of luck so it really depends on where you go and what options you take.

I won on my first run. And then my second run.
Do I really pwn that much, or is the game really that nice and easy?

I got almost to the end sector on my first playthrough but it deleted my savegame before I had a chance to finish it. I really like the game though so next time I play I am going to see if I can finish it in one gaming session, which shouldn't be too hard.

Most people beat it a little quicker than that, but you are still in the acceptable range. The average person beats it somewhere between the 8-12 hour mark I find.

Congrats ! I bought the game very recently (when I was $2,50 on the Humble Store) not knowing if I was going to like it, and it's one of the best purchases I made in the last months.
I've played roughly 5 hours so far and stupidly died on sector 7 on my last playthrough. It's kinda hard, but not frustrating in my opinion, even if you clearly have to count on luck. Well, I'm playing on normal anyway, maybe I should try easy mode ?

It is pretty tricky, you need a bit of time to figure out what does and does not work for you and your ship and then there's the luck element. Took me about 8 hours to beat it on easy.
I've learned that I'm terrible at dealing with boarding parties, not enough mantis crew. :D

Well Rogue likes are generally hard. It took me like 10 hours to beat FTL, 20 for BoI and 35 for DoD. They're all supposed to be hard.

I accidentally the whole game on normal on the first try :)

Yeah, the game is pretty hard at first but it gets easier the more you play because you get better at it. I'm playing on Normal now and it's not any harder for me than when I just started playing on easy. Whenever I play on easy now it's just cakewalk and I barely ever fail anymore.

Also, a big factor for me was to learn how to defeat the final boss. I had no trouble getting to him in the beginning but he always owned me :P

I think it took me 8-10 hours to beat it on easy. Now it's nearly impossible for me not to.

(would have been more like 5-6, but I didn't expect the drone swarm to be independent of the drone control room)

it took me 9 hours, with Engi A. It was actually really easy, because I made it really hard in the previous sectors, taking a lot of risks, and refusing some tempting situations. I also unlocked 2 ships in that run (and almost a 3rd, but that rock ship was really unlucky xD)

It took me 150 tries to beat the boss... I tried with Mantis B over and over, then beat it with Kestral

2 hours and a half with the Zoltan ship I believe.

the first time i beat the game, it was with the engi station, what went wrong huh?

The game is like 70% luck and 30% skill so how far you get really depends on what events and inventory items you get.

My first win was somewhere around 10 hours, now beaten it about 4 times (twice with Torus, once with Fed A and once with Kestrel, in that order.)

You did it in half of the time it took me. I was at about 46 hours when I won it the first time.
