Help please: weird phenomenon with desktop switching

Hey all.

Recently my cat walked over my laptop and since then I'n facing a weird phenomenon I don't have an explication for. It's as if I was running two different profiles at once, and they switch randomly without any control.

So for example I was just running a pdf, an app to work on said pdf, and two browsers where all history seemed deleted plus the Epic client to claim the latest games. Then I opened another browser, and it looked as if my whole desktop moved to the left,, and all the applications I had running disappeared, but now Steam was running and all my browsers had all their tabs back.

It's as if my previous doings disappeared into the upside down. I know they are still there "somewhere", but where? How do I gain control over this process? What is happening? Anybody got any idea?

Edit: The fuck! I just clicked on the Epic icon to newly open their app and the whole thing switched back!! Now I have all my apps back, but my tabs are gone. Nooooo! Please, I need to know how to stop this ;___;
