I can't seem to find what the incentives are for uploading games to this site (besides the warm fuzzy feeling of giving someone a game they don't have). Shouldn't there be more incentives? For example, people who upload games worth x points get x points back to spend on giveaways. Or maybe they get to enter a raffle more than once (with a limit of 5 times or something). Either option would be a pretty good incentive I think, especially now that users only get a 5% cut when people upload games.

Thoughts?

Though in all honesty, they will just take the gift, and resell it on the steam forums.
Oh yeah, they won't thank you either.

If you realllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy want something for giving, you join a private group.
Your reward for giving? Getting into giveaways with less people.

The best incentives are the ones that aren't questioned...the feeling of giving to the community without expecting anything in return. That there should give you satisfaction by itself.

It feels really good man, you definitely should do it. I got anxious before my giveaway ends. :3 I like making speed giveaways so just a few guys get in and the winning chance is a lot higher. :3 The feeling is so good that you can get addicted to it. I'm glad I'm poor and can't get addicted. :D

Achievement Unlocked: A paranoid's nightmare - Have none of your 8 giveaway winners play their games

Yea well it does bother me when someone wins a giveaway and then does not play that game at all. If that person was busy with other things in life I could understand, but when I see someone with a steam rating of 10 having only played the game I have gifted him for a mere 0.5 hours....well that just makes my blood boil. Why did you enter the giveaway then in the first place? There are other people who would've played that game till the end of times. It's even coming to a point that it makes me NOT want to create giveaways anymore, because it's easier just to trow my money out the window.

If there's an incentive to giving things away, then they are no longer gifts but rather trades or payments. I'm sure that there are already plenty of sites out there devoted to trading other people games over Steam, but this is called steamgifts for a reason.

P.S. That warm fuzzy feeling is a lot better than you would actually expect it to be before you've given a game away.

See it that way: If no one would give games away, you could not in fact win any. So by giving games to others you make sure the side stays around, continuing to give you opportunities to win some.

I completely understand why there are no incentives, you are trying to make it a selfless act. But at the same time there is already an indirect incentive, a user’s profile is displaying the number of games a person have given away. I’m sure some people are trying to increase their game giveaways, as a form of reputation. So already this whole idea of only getting a good feeling from giving away games as a sole reason to give out games is inaccurate. A higher game giveaway reputation may allow a user to enter private giveaway groups in some cases.

I believe that giving some form of incentive would only encourage people to provide more raffles, and therefore there would be more games. Such a system should only provide points to people who offer quality contributions, this can be accomplished by only giving points for games that are worth more and are not part of a bundle which can be acquired for cheap.

This suggestion goes against the spirit of SteamGifts.

You should win a copy of skyrim for every humble indie bundle you give away right?

The site is called Steam 'Gifts', emphasis on Gifts. A gift is the transfer of something without the expectation of receiving something in return.

You give a game for people to enter and some of those people give a game you can enter, simple as that.
