What if I told you that the amount of time and effort you invest into idling then selling/trading cards is actually not worth it? Sure, some people enjoy doing it, sometimes I did it, it was fun for me, but all the time I invested into it to get like £2-3 out of it, I could have spent that on much more meaningful things, like playing games or working on my project, working to earn money.

But the card idling thing is surprisingly profitable in some cases ... i dont really like idling cause i dont keep the PC on when im not using it but i literally made like 50$ out of the cards from the games i bough over last year and i still have like 1000 cards left to drop >.<

Meh. When I first started PC gaming I collected a few crappy games, just because they were free/nearly free but now I don't bother because my backlog is big enough with games I do want without polluting it with stuff I don't want.
I don't really get why people collect shovelware, but it's not surprising. Whether it's Pokémon or whatever, people like to collect things and to have the best collection. There's a bit of a hoarder in all of us.

Some people take pride in a curated collection, where each game is worthy of inclusion.
Others only care about the bottom line: "I have 1500 Steam games. This time next year I hope to have 2500 Steam games". Doesn't matter to them if they're AAAs or only good for card-farming. That's a game in and of itself in a way.
I'd lean towards the former, wanting only games that I actually want to play at some stage. But I can understand why, especially with the card aspect, some people just want more.

Man, trash games are not even the worst things I ever collected.
I had a collection of empty alcohol bottles and wouldn't even get those cent profitz out of those. I also had a rock collection. Not minerals or gems or something, just interestingly shaped common rocks. Getting rid of that one was the hardest, I loaded one cartload at a time and spread them over the field where I found most of them anyway.

My "Free" game category counts 287 games, my "Trash" category says 223 games. (Giveaway games aren't included here, and have their own category.)
My steam wallet says 93,06€ currently (without ever paying in), so yeah, I appreciate the free cash income and don't mind hiding the "Trash" category in my library.
But yeah, I stopped buying trash bundles for trading cards a long time ago, not worth the time. Yet I keep picking up free games when I see a post about it.
And I only enter GAs from my wishlist nowadays.

Whenever someone makes a topic, it's not necessary to go through someone's gift history, library history or even check a key given out (which came across like you just wanted to dump "shit") to find out if they are truely ironic or not. i also took a med in that atm i am slightly fuzzy.
