That's right, THQ Nordic, who own the IP now, are remastering Kingdoms of Amalur and releasing a full version, with graphic enhancements and ALL DLC included!

Game is slated sometime in August. Read the article here.

I LOVED KoA. Never had the DLC, though nor did I beat it. Might have to reinstall now for the hell of it. Just hope they fix the difficulty. I have to lay on the hardest just to have any fun, and even on THAT difficulty, the game is too easy.

So far the vast majority of remasters have been disappointing, badly optimized, often keeping old issues and bugs while also adding new ones.
Most games havent even aged that badly, to require a remaster, its mostly a new version for newer consoles.

My thoughts exactly. Specially THQ's "remasters". Any sprinkle of HD textures for the same unoptimized game is branded "fully remastered". I hope I'm wrong but we'll just to wait and see.

I very much prefer to stay with the classic version of the game and enjoy new releases. This trend of classic games of getting remastered is just an easy cash grad for publishers, the work and thought put behind it is close to zero. I don't know, I prefer my games the way they were released, and instead of remasters I would prefer new, fully fleshed out games that take full advantage of the modern game engines available today.

I tried to play that game twice and couldn't get into it due to the horrible field of view. The only way to change it was to use widescreen fixer and that didn't make it better as I got a massive fisheye effect no matter which settings I used. And it was annoying having to use a 3rd party app to begin with so eventually I just stopped playing.

Hope they allow me to adjust the fov properly and I'd buy it for a reasonable price.

I actually finished the game years ago... And I have to agree with you about the difficulty. The game is just way too easy, especially in the last half. Money also becomes no problem.

I enjoyed the game still. Solid 7/10, with decent combat and controls.

This game doesn't look that bad, does it really need a remaster? How about Kingdoms of Amalur 2 instead?

Adding a simple coop to this game would elevate it a lot. It was supposed to be an mmo anyways. Remastering only the graphics will make this mediocre game a slightly prettier mediocre game. The original looked nice, too, so graphics were never the problem for this one.

Interesting. I really didn't like the game at first but once I forced the completionist in me to skip most of the really tedious non-faction sidequests I started enjoying the game a lot more. Those sidequest are probably the biggest telltale sign that this was once supposed to be an MMO, they are just absolutely generic. Other than that the game was fairly decent but still, I'm surprised to see a remaster of such a low-key title. But then again, it is probably easy money for them.

this game dont need a pricey remaster at all..it looks pretty good today..it's only a bit Long and grindy..and the story isn't so trilling and u forget it in the ocean of sidequest u have to do...not a bad game anyway. but there is many really old games that would benefit a remaster. not this one.

I hope to not be the only one, but I discovered this game thanks to Ellen from Outside Xtra, if you dont know who she is, she is a presenter in that youtube channel and it became an inside joke that everytime they talked about their favorite games or anything related she brought up that game.
About the remaster, I only hope it gets well optimized, because as long as consoles arent fully retrocompatible like pc, remastering games is the omly way past game wont dissapear.

Really nice combat but simply a boring game. Not really needed a remaster at all.

Also whenever you say you love a game i will avoid from now on because our taste is just the opposite. :D

The difficulty or should I say lack thereof was the main reason why I dropped the game long long time ago when I gave it a try. Even on hardest difficulty as soon as you craft some decent weapons/armors the game turns into a joke.

I wonder will they give discounts for people who own the original, in which case I might buy it just to be able to get the remaster cheaper.

The story behind 38 Studios was a fascinating tale of heavy hitters, big dreams, wasteful spending, Rhode Island's greed, and a bank's fraudulent misrepresentations to investors about risk. The article's link about the studio going bankrupt goes into a bit of it.

Glad to see the game getting new life!

A damn shame 38 Studios took Big Huge Games with it to the grave.I loved their Rise of Nations games (especially the fantasy-steampunk one,Rise of Legends). And Microsoft doesn't seem to be doing much with that particular IP (other than RoN:Extended Edition).

terrible and boring game. the only way to remaster it is to get rid of all the ideas about mmo they had when they developed it.

I think the combat wasn't bad, the fixed zone levels and crappy quests were bad ideas.

I hope they add an FOV setting, always thought the camera was too close to the character and had to use a software to fix it.

Interesting. I don't know if this game needs a remaster; the graphics hold up decently, you don't need anything special to get it to run on modern machines, and it is still fun to play. Regardless, I am pleased to see that the remaster will include all DLCs. Remastered editions often are naked cash-grabs so the DLC is still sold separately.

I do agree with the other comments here about the difficulty. Hopefully a remaster will include something which makes the game challenging, at least on the hardest setting.
