Hi

Something around the house would be best. Have tried lens wipes which someone recommended to me but it does not seem to do much.
Anyone got a hidden secret on cleaning monitor screens?

Cheers

Water leaves marks.
I'll bet you even find spray screen cleaner and microfiber cloth from your supermarket

Don't use water, get a screen cleaning foam designed for electronics and a microfiber cloth / lens wipes like you've got. Turn it off first and make sure there's no dust on there as it can scratch the screen.

This is how I've been cleaning them as well. It's effective and never caused any harm. Albeit sometimes when I'm lazy and want to clean quickly I just use my spit and piece of toilet paper.

You've never used industrial window cleaner then...

Cum and cheetos powder.

But seriously anything from window cleaner to glasses cleaner works. You just don't want it to foam, clean in circles for a cleaner result.

Usually just a nice microfiber cloth, sometimes with a little monitor cleaning spray.

Not at all what "you should properly monitor your cat" was intended to mean.

Best would be anything made for cleaning plastic eyeglasses like plain water and a microfiber cloth.
Never use glass cleaners or alcohol wipes unless if you like a glazed over screen.

I don't clean it, because I think what a monitor needs to live a natural life (for my dusty desk, of course)

I bought a can of monitor wipes from Staples, and they seem to work pretty well, and dry quickly. As a general tip for electronics, it's best to use Isopropyl (rubbing alcohol), but go for the 91%; I used to use that when I'd find filthy old game consoles to clean them up, get them working, and sell them, back in the poverty days. You can usually find 91% in most pharmacies, I'm told; I happened to work at one that had it at the time, but it was one of those old-timey mom and pop places that had things like castor oil, Mercurochrome, and gentian violet, so your mileage may vary.

oh well I'm not that technology guy so I clean them with scottex which is a term that here in Italy refers to kitchen towel, or just towel, dryer sheets, I mean, that thing you keep in the kitchen.. and sometimes with handkerchiefs =P well they are all clean to me xD oh I should be more caring about my monitors =P
for what concerns the netbook I use for movies anyways I use microfiber cloth, the one for the glasses I mean, not water though, never used water!

paper towel and some water. you don't need anything else. one time maybe some alcohol if you have some seriously dirty screens for some reason. just keep your fatty fingers off the screen in the future.

buying special screen cleaner is a waste of money and using window cleaner on your screens could very well ruin them as you rub off the coating. common mistake for young gamers and old mums alike.
