Dear THQ,

It's already 7 months since you left us...
You know, it's summer time now. Oh, how I miss playing with you, seeing the high res flowers and having fun, just the two of us.

You know, Saints Row 4 is up for preorder on steam now. It's got sort of OK bonuses, nothing much. It's not the same without you.

I love you,

vcvc8 from the world of the living.

Now we're alone with all of this publishers with their own shitty DRM and non ended DLC....

It would be a shame if popular THQ titles like Saint's Row and Darksiders were to get dozens of DLCs.

But that was in a way where you don't have to buy them, but it will just increase the fun. The games are still insane and fun standalone.

I don't think there's a game where you are absolutely required to purchase DLC except for DLC quest.

Both Saint's Row and Darksiders got a lot DLC under the flag of THQ. So it won't be a big difference.

they had to introduce that, they didn't want to... they were in the red zone for money by the time SR3 and Darksiders 2 came out (and SR2+ darksiders original didnt have much if any DLC)

what about 2K ? and Bethesda? :)

2K isn't that great either, i.e. forcing multiplayer in Spec Ops while devs didn't want that element in the game. Outside developer team did it badly, multi is pretty much dead by now and it had influence on the reviews. Beside - as I see it - it's trying to do something opposite to the single player experience aiming to achieve, especially in the later stage of game.

And we don't speak about Bethesda.

Saints Row 4 seems exactly the same without THQ. Volition has already said that they are using the same DLC plan as was used with Saints Row the Third, in other words they will be releasing a ton of it. Saints Row 4 seems to be made with the same mindset at SR3, and apparently is still lacking some of the stuff that was also cut in creating SR3.

Honestly, it is kind of hard to notice that THQ is gone, because the well-known publishers all act nearly interchangeably the same. The main thing that we are missing is a potentially iffy Darksiders 3. That, and we never saw THQ introduce its own version of Origin/Uplay/Steam.

Saints Row 4 is pretty much the same without them because it's mostly just DLC packaged with a new number on it.

No thanks, THQ made good games but the DLC they put out makes me care very little that it went bust...I mean they were literally one of the worst when it came to DLC, why does everyone treat them like CD Projekt and such?

I believe if you bought every DLC with SR3 it came out to over 120 dollars, mind you only 3 of them had actual stories and those were a good 40 mins long each, everything else was 1-3 items in each pack, terrible.

You know, i have this crazy idea sometimes, it is kinda of a secret: "When DLC are not nessesary or good i just don´t buy them". Now breathe, take care of your head because it might explode with this new information...you can tahnk me later.

Terrible logic, guess you were fine with the 13 DLC's locked on the SR3 disc day 1? Haha.

Point is, most of THQ's DLC was made before the game release, it should have been in the game for free, and where did I say it was not good(I did say the way they milked DLC was one of the worst, thats it)? Its all alright and honestly it being held back for twice the price of the actual games price feels like a ripoff to me.

Also: "Now breathe, take care of your head because it might explode with this new information"

Nice try :-)!

It's not like there was some way to get all of the SR3 dlc in one place for a low price... maybe some sort of "full package"

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah that happens with every game, it basically punishes people who buy on release to support the game, how can you not see that? Also doesn't negate the fact that on release pirates had a fuller game because of 13 on disc dlcs that they had day 1 and people who bought it got micro charges every couple of months unlocking bits and pieces of those DLC's. If you like the way that works, hey whatever floats your boat but I for one don't like being taken advantage of.

Again, Nice try :-)!

I was pretty sure they were pumping out DLC because they were going bankrupt. Once the uDraw flopped I noticed the switch to more DLC oriented releases, which can be seen with Dawn of War II: Retribution which came out just under a year after the flop. Full of DLC, which was unlike them.

No, the pre-order bonus was most likely THQs choice. It takes some time to develop such stuff, you know?
