Hidden Icebergs?? That sounds dangerous

View Results
[SKIP] Icebergs usually float, whereas this bundle has sunk like the Titanic
[TOO EXPENSIVE] Apparently the only icebergs I can afford at the moment is of the leafy green variety
[OWN] These gems are already well hidden in my library
[TIER 1] It would be Lunacy to pass this bundle by!
[TIER 2] I called Tech Support about my HellBreach, but they said I had Blazing Sails from sailing the high seas and I needed to actually pay for my games
[TIER 3] CLeM, King of Retail, Stars in Shadow of DOOMBLADE! The new exciting drama from the team that brought you Cats! The musical!
[GROUP BUY] Me and some friends We'll all Float on, okay

Think I'll go for T1. Minicology looks interesting.

Probably would go for full bundle if there weren't so many rebundled titles.

For "hidden gems", the average review scores seem really low. Even mediocre games can usually pull a 80%.

Really? Most asset flip slops don't go above 50-60%, and that's including all the paid reviews they have. Out of curiosity, do you have examples of mediocre games at 80%?

He's right though. And he doesn't have to present one example, it's sufficient that the median rating on Steam is well above 80%.

I searched a bit but could not find the reference. Do you have a link detailing that 80+% median?

Regarding the ratings, if there is a median above 80%, couldn't that simply come from the fact that the median game on Steam is good, rather than mediocre?

Steamspy used to show the median ratings, it consistently was above 80%. But they haven't gathered user data for years, so I doubt that you can still find it.

But I found this very old tweet from SteamCharts, which says the same.

It might be that some asset flip masses today dropped the median. For our topic it's not really relevant though, as the fact remains that a Steam game achieving 80% still doesn't suggest some higher quality title. It's right in the middle of everything else. Maybe even below average.

After reading the definition of mediocre again, I agree. I though it meant below average, but it actually means ordinary. I can certainly agree that ordinary games sit at about 80% review score.

He's right.

If Steam had a star system instead of a upvote or downvote, you'd be right. But 75-80% is actually where a mediocre game sits. It's not great, it has flaws, but people still had a fairly good time with it.

So, I play a game and it's not bad, and it's not brilliant either. I'm going to give it an honest review and an upvote, which is basically giving 100% vs a 0%. That has a tendency to skew average scores upwards. That's why I read reviews before buying. Don't just go by the overall rating.

If it has a 50-60% rating, it's usually pure crap.

It turns out that the problem was my understanding of the word mediocre. I though it meant below average, but it actually means ordinary, average.

My thoughts exactly. Price is okay at least so I might look at the games a bit closer later, but probably just a skip tbh

Yesterday I read something about the biggest iceberg in the world melting, if that's what it contained I guess the other icebergs will be safe from global warming for a few more years. The strategy games look okay, the rest I'll probably have forgotten about in 2 minutes.

I wonder if any of these are regionally locked but can't say I'm that overly tempted with this one tbh.
