Alright, so I have never played any of the Painkiller games before and am not really all that familiar with them. What do the tarot cards do exactly?

Also, what does this tarot card DLC that is part of the Collector's Edition of Hell & Damnation give you? Is it just something that you can unlock anyway through the course of playing the game? There's no description on the store page so hopefully someone who has it (or experience in these matters) can shed some light on this. Thanks in advance.

The cards are unlockable in the original game. I think you could equip them 5 at a time, and there were 2 kinds of them. They were mostly passive powerups, such as you attracted the souls from far away, or you moved more quickly, made more damage, or could take more damage. To equip them or unequip them, you had to spend money that you collected in the various levels. Then again, it was long ago when they were even kind of useful for me, as on Trauma difficulty (which I started recently) it's not making too much of a difference, and trying to obtain them sometimes is just plain futile.

No idea what the DLC does though, and I don't know much about this remake. They don't specifically say it on that page what kind of cards you get, so sorry, can't help with that.

They give you special powers in the original Painkiller game. As I remember there were both passive and active abilities. In other words, some cards gave you an ability that was always active, and others gave you a certain number of uses per level (can't remember how many).

I'm not sure what the dlc for the new game does though.
