Pretty sure they are not allowed to ask for money at all due to the fact it is a mod.

Some modded servers use microtransactions to get them going.

Sometimes it's just skins (a'la Dota), sometimes it's Pay2Win stuff.

Notch/Minecraft made a bit of fuzz lately about it, but I seen it in Garry Mod or Left 4 Dead 2.

That's individual server operators inside of the game, not the developers of the game itself. The terms the Neotokyo devs published their game on Steam under wouldn't allow them to make any money off the game. Other people may be able to find a way to do it, though it may be against Valve's terms as well. They would have less to lose by doing so, of course.

The thing with Minecraft has literally nooooooooothing to do with Valve's licensing terms.

The only cases that come to mind where modders can make money off Valve's property and get distributed on Steam are Black Mesa and Aperture Tag, both of which are going to be sold as retail products and have a licensing fee paid to Valve in order to do so.

Yeah, I know. But he asked for mods and microtransactions, I found him mods (custom made P2W content is mod, right?) and microtransactions :P

Could you put a link to the game in your OP? You know, help it gain popularity / playerbase?

####**[NEOTOKYO on the Steam store] (http://store.steampowered.com/app/244630)**
 ####**[Official site] (http://neotokyohq.com/)**

^ there, so you can easily copy/paste those two lines into clickable links for your OP - just remove the one space between ] and (.

I made it be interpreted as code by the site (by inserting 5 spaces before each line) so OP could easily select, then copy/paste the lines into his OP. He didn't bother, however.. If he did select each character on the lines I posted, and deleted the space, you'd see this:

I swear I was just checking out the Greenlight entry for this the other day, seeing what their last updfate on this was. Always wanted to play this, never found any populated servers, YEARS ago. FINALLY it's released on Steam!! Will have to play! :D

Anyone reading this, CHECK OUT THE MOD, IT'S AMAZINGLY WELL DONE AND DEEP.

So, you play a game for about 50 minutes, and comment on how it lacks depth? There's a lot of unlockable stuff, and a lot of work has gone into balancing classes / weapons etc. See here for more.

The problem is, for as much stuff as you get and as much work has been put in, you get very, very little time to actually use it, moreso if you're new to the game. The whole one life and then wait out the round works against the mod.

I dig. However, reading a little about the game before you just hop in can save a lot of frustration.

That number of players isn't too surprising. I was really looking forward to it, but was left highly disappointed :( Are there any actual differences with this version and the original mod released years ago? I was expecting something better after waiting so long for the Steam release.
