What do you mean "modernized version"? Is it the same graphics as Serious Sam HD?

I think it's in terms of gameplay, not graphics.

So, health regen, friendly AI without friendly fire, insanely easy environmental puzzles and dogs? I'll skip it in that case.

Wasn't Serious Sam HD already a modernized version of SS Classic ?

Will they make a graphic update of the same game every 4 years ?

It will have full Steamworks integration, meaning:

  • Achievements - Hunt them all down.
  • Singleplayer and multiplayer Leaderboards - Become #1 on the leaderboards and beat your friends!
  • Steam content Workshop - Share your maps and mods!
  • Gameplay statistics - Show off your awesome statistics to the world.
  • VAC - Cheaters are history.

Besides Steamworks, the game will be improved to be more modernized for modern-day computers. Some of these changes include:

  • Support for 16:9 widescreen monitors
  • Autodetection of system specs for optimized configuration
  • 64 bit support for Serious Editor
  • Improved Serious Editor features
  • More advanced demo playback
  • Improved HUD features
  • Improved moddability (including Workshop support)
  • Server tags ("Infinite ammo, no health items, no armor items", etc)
  • Serverside gamemode mutators
  • And many more

And we can't just leave this game without new content. So:

  • New full campaign!
  • Both The First Encounter and The Second Encounter are included
  • New gamemodes, such as Survival, Capture the Flag and Team Deathmatch
  • New versus maps
  • New maps imported from Warped/Gold edition
  • Content autodownloader (client downloads missing custom maps/textures/models from server)
  • Kill awards for versus modes (double kill, multi kill, killing spree, etc.)

...and a lot more is in the works, so look forward to that.

The post was from January, well before Steam Trading Card BETA started.

Seeing as SS3 had them added, there is a chance this could have it too.

Why do you suppose that? The games were bundled 18 months after the release of SS3, so it's not like they rushed into it.

Apparently the funds from the Humble Bundle were supposed to go towards SS4 development. Although I wonder if they needed a bit of that in order to push this title out the door.

The fans seem to prefer the first two games over anything else in the series so I could see this doing better than SS3 even though it's the second time they've been remade.

18 months? Wow, time passes quickly. I could have sworn it was only about 6 months.

Taking over a year to release across all platforms wouldn't make remembering the original release any easier. :p

I thought Serious Sam 2 HD was the best one, even better than SS3 BFE, so it might be a good game!

Lol, what? I can't tell if you are serious or joking, and even then, what am I wrong about?

The first problem would be SS2 never had an "HD remake", it's just Serious Sam 2. With that said, I'm not sure if you actual mean SS2 or Serious Sam HD The Second Encounter which was the actual second game of the series.

Most fans agree that SS2 is the worst of the entire series, while SS HD The First and Second Encounter to be the best which could be by cowbell disagreed.

I meant to say SS HD The second encounter...got a little confused trying to remember. Although it wouldn't matter, it's not like I can actually be "wrong" in any case it would have been an opinion no matter what. Thanks for pointing this out though, I did say the wrong game =)

I guess I'll pick this up even though I have the HD games, just because of the extra MP modes and the new campaign coming.

I was/am wondering if there was/is any real point to this because they already did HD re-makes of The First Encounter and The Second Encounter, and the content from TFE was even later integrated into TSE already, kind of like how the Left 4 Dead 1 campaigns were later ported over to Left 4 Dead 2. Also, why do this with the old (obsolete) titles rather than the newer re-makes? Makes no sense to me.
