I just played Danger in Pompeii, and I learned too much about stuff, so I must share

When Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 CE, the Roman city of Pompeii was buried under layers of ash and pumice, freezing daily life in place. Homes, shops, and public baths were preserved so completely that modern archaeologists can still see food on tables and graffiti on walls. Ironically, the very volcano that destroyed the City also protected it from decay. Nearly 2 centuries after its rediscovery, Pompeii continues to reveal insights into Roman engineering, social life, and urban planning. Many buildings once housed bakeries and taverns, showing how densely people lived together. Ongoing excavations are carefully managed to prevent damage caused by weathering and growing tourism, and even after 7 decades of modern study, new discoveries are still being made.

Lvl2+ Danger in Pompeii Ends: Feb. 7.

Here's an interesting fact, but definitely not a favorite. In ancient Rome a man's family were basically his possessions. He could punish his children how he saw fit now matter how old they were. So he could legally murder his children if he wanted to.

Probably the preserved graffiti, showing that common people back then also were shitposters. Well also world wide, but I first learned it from the Rome

Nice catch, could that be a bug? Or is it really someone who shared the link of the giveaway?
What a sad thing if it's the second one, because that would mean only 1 of those really solved it...

Not a bug. I did not do the jigidi, but entered as there is another way to find the code. I do enjoy jigidis, but 450 pieces would be too much for my arthritis. Lucky for me I noticed something in the main post which lead me to the giveaway. The game is new to me and I popped it on my wishlist - will hang out for a discount :)

I didn't know about this game, and it's honestly interesting because of the p&c feature, and the story itself. I knew about Pompeii cause I studied it, but all that has to do with it, it's worth reading.
Thanks for the newly added to my wishlist game, and the jigidi :)

There's an old movie called "The last days of Pompeii", directed by Sergio Leone.

Favorite fact? There are so many it's hard to pick one, but: their concrete, which was made from volcanic ash among other things, was better than ours!

One of the most fascinating aspects of ancient Rome is that they developed a "fast food" culture with street-side shops called thermopolia. Hot food and wine could be bought at every street corner. It was also a place to meet people and cook and drink together.

Imagine having fast food+bar+open kitchen just near where you live at all times. Such a great and easy way to eat and be drunk all the time :D Even a small volcanic eruption in Pompeii would not stop me!

This is such a sweet fact! But I'm living in a city with a big university. There are like 4 pubs in a 2-block radius from me :D

Well now you can call yourself a thermopolia enjoyer then. It sounds much better and ancient than being called a bar drunkard!
