If you allow top down racers on the list, I would cite The Next Penelope as a hidden gem.

I can also add some older titles to the list, but, frankly, some of them did not age very well, some were not that great to start with:

Rollcage was amazing back in the day. Those challenge levels were a real gem

MegaRace was kinda cool 25 years ago... I don't think I'd want to play it now, though. Even back then, it was horribly cheesy, but that was somehow endearing when full motion video with voiced characters was something brand new. :)

Do you mind emulation? If so, the wii Speed Racer game is very good.

A VERY old, but fun game is Slipstream 5000. I think it counts as a hidden gem.

Nitronic Rush was a free game of the developers of distance. Still available

I have played Speed Racer on PS2, Slipstream 5000 is a little too old for me and already played (and finish) Nitronic Rush
Thanks for the advice

It feels really weird that this is the first time I'm hearing about BallisticNG, given it looks like a perfect original Wipeout-style game, with a matching soundtrack... and a low pricetag even without a sale? Wow.

Someone already mentioned Rollcage, which was great back in the day just for the challenge levels and soundtrack. Bought Distance when it was new, but it just flopped into my eternal backlog. I kickstarted GRIP and did the same with that. Gonna bump both of those to the top of my backlog.

Played Break Arts 2, but burned myself out by spending all my time in the mech editor (only to find my designs didn't handle the best in real races, even if I liked the end design, heh). Seems like a decent game but I'm too customisation and detail focused.

Here's hoping you find some new stuff, stranger!

About Ballistic NG, i just you advice to try it if you like wipeout games, the game have more than 100 tracks in the base game (Base game + all free content create by the community), playable both with old wipeout (ps1) physics than modern wipeout (ps3 / ps4) physics.

About GRIP, if you have liked Rollcage, just try it, that a sort of Rollcage 3

About Distance, that a good mix between TRON graphics and Trackmania game design with a flying system, the game have a big editor level in it and some people have made some awesome tracks in it.

And about Break Arts 2, a don't really like it a got a refund with steam, the game himself is quite good and nice graphics, but only 6 tracks in it, that unacceptable for me (i could say the same for Trailblazers that cost 30 euros and have only 10 tracks ...)
