I've only preordered Age of Empires II HD, which I basically paid nothing for.
EDIT: Launch issues aside, I'm happy.

Where did you pre-order it!? (Not sure if troll or serious)

Nuh-uh. Half-Life 3 was available for preorder for a few days after Episode 2 has released, everybody knows that.
I've got Half-Life 3 Ultimate Gaben OMFG Balloonicorn Edition. It comes with digital copy of "Gabe Newell at the beach" calendar. And a balloonicorn.

Batman: Arkham City - preordering was wise decision, because it was later made unavailable in my country.
XCOM Enemy Unknown - was not able to even play the game when it released (didn't have Windows 7 back then), preordered to show support for turn-based tactics genre.
Brutal Legend - amazing game with unique setting.
Strike Suit Zero - gave it away here, bought for myself later.
Sine Mora - gave it away here, later played on Vita.
La-Mulana - gave it away here.

I never pre-order on Steam, mostly because the prices are just really high and not worth my time. If I'm actually pre-ordering video games (which is rare, since a lot of the games now are overhyped and there's no actual way to check out the game) I'm ordering a boxed version online. It's a lot cheaper than on Steam.

Yeah, I don't have $80 to spend on a a digital version of something I can buy for like half the price later. If I really want to support the makers then I'll buy DLC or merchandise.

Skyrim (and I pre-ordered it after the hats were taken off pre-order bonus)
Grid 2 (haven't played it or the Grid 1 pre-order bonus much but from what I have played, I'm very much going to enjoy them. Just gotta get past my exams...)
Don't Starve (pre-ordered off the dev's own site for 2 Steam and 2 Chrome keys so I split the price with my brother. For the cost it's a fantastic game.)
No regrets.

Don't think I have whole lot of preorders on Steam in the end. Greenmangaming usually has much better deals on pre-orders, and if not, grabbing a copy from Amazon is cheaper than Steam on launch day.
Looking at my history, looks like the latest game I preordered on Steam was L4D 1. (tho I suspect there are others since that, but they've been gift-smuggled with US Steam prices.)

both portal 2 and dead island (the original) i am pretty happy with the steam pre-order for... granted dead island got boring quick but i would hesitate to say that i disliked what i played so i think it was money well spent... the second being portal 2.... and how could i not be happy with that purchase (i rarely pre-order anything unless i am hyped about it.... in the last 4 years i have pre-ordered 3 things, the 2 above and metro last light which was retail pre-order)

I think I pre-ordered only Portal 2, despite knowing that the price would have dropped very quickly. No regrets, I really wanted to play it asap and I loved the game.
It was an exception for me though, 90% of the times I wait for a -66+% sale. :)

true, but most people knew the price was going to drop, and it said that it didnt not add bonus material for preorder.

You can check this by clicking your account details in Steam.
Mine:
Mass Effect 2 (completed so worth the pre-order)
Battlefield Bad Company 2 (369 hours played so yeah...)
Football Manager 2011 (turned out to be not my kind of game so not worth it)
Homefront (mediocre game with crap mp. Not worth it)
Brink (one of the biggest dissapontments I had. payed the full price for a crap game)
Red Orchestra 2 (hats and plenty of time played. Worth it)
Skyrim (No regrets at all, and I got a cool tf2 hat)
Rage (turned out to be a dissapointment. Too bad I paid the full price for it)
Risen 2 (completed it so worth it)
Legend of Grimrock (not much played and game got cheaper fast. Def regret this)
Counterstrike GO (plenty of hours played so worth it)
The Cave (hats and such a cool game. Def worth it)
The Showdown Effect (less than 1hr playtime so not worth it)
Brutal Legend (Just had to have it because I loved playing it on XBox + hats. BL is always worth it)
Resident Evil 6 (slightly worth it for the bonuses. Game itself turned out to be mediocre imo)
Bioshock Infinite Seasons pass (don't know yet but I love B.I. so I think it will be allright)
Poker Night 2 (cheap, hats and fun. Def worth it)
DARK (don't know yet)
In short. 18 Games pre-ordered of which 7 turned out to be mistakes. For me lesson learned: though it seems tempting I should only pre-order my games when I'm absolutely convinced it's worth it.
So how do you feel about your Steam pre-orders? Why did you buy them and how do you feel about them now?
Leave retail, Origin, uPlay, etc. out please.
Btw, TF2 hats for me are cool because I can sell them on the Steam market ;)
