I've started playing the game 8-9 days ago and was wondering if there more people on SG who are enjoying it?

If you're looking for others to play co-op then feel free to leave your player ID in the comments...

Have you ever played Genshin Impact?

Yes - but I hated it!
What?

I played it a couple months ago, got bored of it pretty fast personally.

What was the reason? There's certainly no lack of missions to do.

True, but most missions are pretty generic and feature the same task of „kill x monster” or „bring a to b”. The main story was nice but the gameplay wasn’t good enough to hold up the boring side quests for me.

But isn't this the same issue with almost every open world action RPG? I agree, at some point the story quests might be done and it gets really boring... although they constantly keep adding new parts for the map and quests along with regular updates (gotta keep those gacha addicts entertained - I'm strictly in for the F2P though).

It is with most, (not all though, some have really engaging gameplay, though they are far and few between), but that doesn’t mean it’s not a problem since Genshin since it suffers from the same issue.

I drop the game some weeks ago is so stupid how is possible the game dont give the daily quest for some achievements when i was playing since day 1, ever patch they release i hope new lore but no, 1 zone or event its okay but i really enjoy the game in the first place because his history and explore the world, if you give me the same zone mondstat and liyue for almost a year i can keep goin with you. i was trying to get all achievement but the daily quest achievements was impossible, playing since day 1 and i never get the mission of follow the sign of love or sometime like that, playing since day 1 and never get a ONE good gladiator artifact, playing since day 1 and NO ONE goblet of pyisical dmg gladiator, maiden, noblesse etc no one how is possible i dont get a fuckin physical dmg goblet if im playing since day 1 all of hp or def. one thing is low drop and u need to grind asf to get what you want but in the moment when you have resin and have a low try per day and geting ar 56 before get a single artifact is a joke so i just drop the game and wait for blue protocol o some else who make the things good. All the daily was kill the fuckin fatoui bro i have some daily quest that i never seen in AR56 but you still get me kill fatoui

Yeah, indeed having commisions depend on RNG is pretty stupid - not only for achievements but also for the reputation. That definitely should be changed to maybe a fixed circling order. I totally get the frustration with that. I have the same issues with quest... i.e. running out of quests and then having to play 1-2 days until I get new quests. I mean, if there's quests still not done, let me make them - and if I'm too low, let me fail - but at least it's giving me a goal then instead of aimlessly wandering around the map just to kill a bunch of hilichurls every now and then.

Had the same problem too, I will return to it if the map size doubles and the main story expands with it ^

Yeah, I can relate to that sentiment since I'm strictly going for the F2P aspect of it - which gets annoying when it comes to getting certain characters.

Yeah, just another piece of gacha trash. I don't even look at gacha games anymore because they usually turn out the same, runaway powercreep that you can only keep up with by constantly pulling the newest new shiny.

I'm strictly in for F2P - I don't think though you can get to where paying people get as it mostly is single player. So there's only PvE anyways and the equipment you get for free or payed must be leveled up anyways. But it sure could become a grind at some point.

Day 1 player, play daily, Americas server.

I suppose I really enjoy the gameplay, and the sense of world exploration.

Surprisingly strong lore and worldbuilding too, how everything ties together and how things came to be, that's keeping me interested long-term as well.

Music is fantastic, always a plus.

A fair amount of the English voice actors also actually play the game and stream, those keep me occupied too. Not just Genshin Impact either, one recently started collaborating with other Genshin Impact VAs to stream/play Apex Legends, and there's a VA community monthly Among Us stream that usually happens on the last Saturday of every month.

Ha, your avatar...
So you're the guy I should go to with questions I assume... noted! ;-)

I too was quite surprised by the good story and all that lore already for a game that's still relatively new. They've done quite well with it. The music... yeah, generally good too but every now and then there's a title where you know the original they've stolen from pretty obviously - not that I'd care much.

Talking of the English audio dialogue - is that a bug that a lot of the conversations aren't spoken? But when you exit a conversation you can still hear a part of what would have been just said? I find that to be quite odd.

Yes
Klee is my favorite Genshin character, she's adorable, I love her lines and her idle lines, her gameplay is very technical, I like it all, ehe.

I'll try to answer Genshin questions you have the best way I can.

The lore extends not only to the story cutscenes but also to random books, notes, item descriptions, artifact history, names, etc. Many things seem to tie together.

Some audio dialogue is voiced, some aren't, unless you're talking about the syncing of the written lines with the audio being delayed? I haven't really run into that...

If it's a line of dialogue that goes silent and then a character resumes talking again on the next lines, those may be bugs that are being worked on (like in one instance on the current summer event).

Yeah... adorable but also slightly annoying (to me at least). But in general the lines of the character are annoying - I wish you could turn them off so you'd not have to repeatedly hear them over and over and over again, especially when the game is in the background while e.g. looking something up in the wiki or on Youtube. I currently find Kaeya the most bearable has he's not so high energy all the time as most of the girls. And Fischl's lines... don't get me started 🙄 Though, anyways, from a playing point of view I liked Klee and currently try to get her with the free wishes (though I doubt I'll be lucky).

Right now I got none, but thanks, I'll keep it in mind.

Yeah, saw those books... and found it too much to read... at least for now. But I certainly was impressed by the game having so much backstory!

No, I meant the actual dialogue in general. I too first thought that surely not everything is voiced but then, as said, you could hear the last 1-3 words of the text at the very end of a conversation and I started to wonder what's up with that.

Good luck on pulling Klee! Are you aware of how pity works in the game? You are guaranteed a 5* character every 90 wishes but a boost (aka soft pity) kicks in at around pull #74. This counter exists on the limited character banner, weapon banner, and standard banner, and each one of the three has its own separate count and does not cross over to the other banner types.

Weapon banner also has an earlier soft pity (around pull #61, with the weapon banner 5* guarantee at #75 instead of #90). F2Ps/low spenders aren't really recommended to pull on weapon banners though.

The pity count DOES carry over across the same type of banner.

For limited character event banners, when you pull a 5 star you have a 50/50 chance to get the limited character. If it isn't the featured 5 star character, you are 100% guaranteed to get the next 5 star limited character on your next 5* pull.

Pretty sure that issue is gone by now, considering adventure level goes up to 60 now (I think) and with all the content that apparently has been added since it originally came out. Though, what do I know - I'm still adventurer level 25.

I have to say the gameplay wasn't particularly engaging either, the gameplay loop and skill/character rotations are extremely basic. It just isn't my game I guess. Then again, it is a mobile game so I'm not sure what I expected going in.

Yeah, it is and I played it on PC of course, but it still felt like a souped up mobile game. The BoTW-esque gameplay was what attracted me to it in the first place, but this game is just a glorified checklist simulator with a pretty skin around it. It also became clear very quickly that the game is set up in a specific way to get people to spend as much money as possible (like any gacha game I suppose) and this to me feels malicious. I would avoid this game at all costs, unless you're absolutely certain that you won't get suckered into spending more than retail value, but preferably nothing at all.

What is BoTW?
I stuck around for the story - I quite like that. And I am not planning on spending a single cent on it. Well, not for now. 😄 But as I've said in another comment - the price for a battle pass seems reasonable and is justified I think. For the gasha system itself though, never!

Getting characters... I wish that would be different (getting by playing instead of that money grabbing wish system - or hoping to be lucky as I'm going strictly F2P).

Nono it is getting by playing characters is what I meant. It's not that money grab but obviously it helps to start earlier so you don't miss banners or have to wait for reruns.

The thing for whales is getting duplicates (which eh not really needed atm but something for whales to do if they wanna be op). Just getting the characters isn't that bad, since ive been playing since day 1 I actually almost have all the characters, missing some since you can't guarantee a 5* every banner as f2p but it's definitely feasible to get what you like.

And getting 5* weapons (eh extra stuff again) as spending for new characters for me is nicer then trying to get 1 character super buff

Ah, ok... but to get to 180 (I think) free wishes is quite the task. I'm not sure if that's possible to do within the period of a banner. I mean, if you play 16 hours a day, I'm pretty sure it's possible. Well, no idea how long it takes on average to get enough Primogems to convert to wishes.

What do you mean with "whales"? I actually drew 2 characters a seconds time twice.. .and was really annoyed by the fact that this was even possible. Ok, this was before I've learned about character constellations but I still see this as another money grab. They could at least have limited it to 7 times for characters you don't have, yet, or to 6 times for characters which you get naturally just from playing the story. On the other hand I have to say I was really lucky with my 10 first free new player wishes. I got Xingqiu from it and apparently he's one of the best characters available. I mean, he's really not that good for me, but hey, I won't complain about that.

I totally agree - I'd rather take a good new weapon than the n-th version of the same character I already have... unless we're talking about Barbara - I'd gladly take her on constellation 6. But other than that a better weapon has more benefits as it potentially speed up the whole game play by quite a bit and therefore safes time getting stuff for leveling up.

Ya it's definitely different when youre so early on starting now you wont have the "guarantee" available and have to look to the future. It's actually guarantee 5 on 90 pulls with a uprate on banner character, but yes will need 180 if unluck. And they do have "soft pity" I believe which kicks in around 75. Which I think in the long run if you keep playing the rates arent actually too bad just kinda sucks when you start out no you can't guarantee who you want, but getting 5's at least is not a big deal.

I was just using the term whales as people who basically pay to pull as in other gachas. Where they can try for a certain banner multiple times for the constellation which is pretty hard for f2p unless you save up a lot for I guess one character.

Haha I was never really in a rush to do content though I think if youre enjoying it just take your time and slowly gather those primogems see how long you last xD

Ah, ok. Well, this is my first contact with Gacha games - I've also never played any of those with lootboxes. It's just not my thing. But since this one can be played just as good F2P just with less bling I thought I give it a try - and am currently actually liking it a lot.

Well, since I don't want to fall for their scheme and pay for wishes Primogems are my only option. Or is there another way to roll for wishes I'm not aware of, yet?

Thats good to hear I think if you have patience in the long run getting enough characters you like will be fine. ^^

Haha mainly primogems you should check the stardust shop which you can buy some summon ticket things with (i think 5 banner and 5 standard every month). Stardust is currency you get from doing pulls/getting duplicates.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, I've seen that though currently there are only Barbara and Kaeya - and I already have both of them. Maybe getting Barbaras constellation up would be a good idea but it's 34 Stardust and I only have 16. So I don't think I'll be able to get her within the next 12 days. Also, if I spend it on her... who know, next month could be someone I don't have yet, so I guess I rather save up.

Do you know if there's a system, like, the current banner character always shows up in the Stardust shop 1 or 2 months after?

I dont actually know as I don't really spend on that (not sure who will be next), but I wasn't actually talking about buying the characters directly. It is good if want to constellation up them but I actually buy the "intertwined fate and aquaint fate" instead which are summon tickets that go towards the guaranteed 5* when doing banner/standard draws.

F2P players can earn 60+ wishes usually over the course of a patch.

An F2P player has to pick and choose which 5* banners to pull strongly on.

The good news is that many, many 4* characters are perfectly viable and can hold their own so far.

Yep, I've been playing since January and one of the first things I learned was to not judge a character by the number of stars they have, but by how they fit into your team composition and playstyle. 5* are stronger than 4*, that's a given, but they're not necessarily more useful, depending on the rest of the team and how you play.

I mained Razor (a 4*) almost since I started playing, and I only relegated him to my secondary team a couple of weeks ago when I got Eula (a 5* with a similar playstyle but faster and with a more flexible element)--and I use my secondary team almost as often as my primary one, so it's not like he's gathering dust now.

Basically he's an enabler.
His burst, while can be quite damaging in and of itself, complements other characters' attacks which it increases the damage of through elemental reactions. For example when using his Q, then switching to Yanfei whose Fire attacks now do Vaporize reaction dmg on top of her regular dmg.
His E can do substantial damage in small AOE (but mainly used to charge up his costly Q). His constellations are good. His passive is among the best. He gives some defense as well as some healing, and most importantly he has blue hair for crying out loud what more can you ask from a boy?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Ah, ok. That's how I'm using all of my characters anyways (besides Barbara which I only use for healing when necessary - lately I don't even take her with me anymore as the team is strong enough). But His E also takes quite long to recharge for me. Maybe I should have a look at his Artifacs and get him some Elemental Recharge.
What do you mean with "hi passive"? I'm not aware he's giving healing... you're talking about Xingqiu?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you use a 4* Sacrificial sword (preferably R2 and upwards) and have ~200% ER you can quite consistently get two consecutive E attacks which fully charge up his Q.
Healing provided by Hydropathic passive talent.

I played on a daily basis for about about 3 months and enjoyed myself, it is a good game, its just a shame that it's a gacha. :/
Got hooked on the open world and how well paced content was, the collectibles and resource gathering really scratched that itch for me but... After making it far enough, the grind to level up characters and the whole cycle around it wore me out.

Yeah, I get that. I don't think I will even make it to 3 months playing it for that exact reason. But for now I quite enjoy the story and the world quests.

It's my guilty pleasure game. The exploration is legitimately great; Mondstadt's cool but Liyue was such a lovely and interesting region to crawl around. I also really dig mixing and matching character abilities in combat. Everything else, uh....

The worldbuilding is interesting enough, but the writing is... not good. Especially anything happening in Liyue. The gacha (which is an uncomfortably predatory model in itself) makes absolutely no sense with the story as presented, and I can't stand how it necessitates the obnoxious one-note anime character quirks or the fact that we have so many magical sparkledogs running around with super special powers and outfits that don't look anything like their mundane neighbors. The only characters I like with zero caveats and can completely believe are Paimon, who voices most of my snarky thoughts for me, and Albedo, who I wish belonged to a better written game that could do him justice and who is also as done with the rest of the cast as I am. (there are other characters I'm warm towards but there's almost always a moment that brings my mood down with them haha)

And yeah, the grind treadmill is pretty debilitating once you've exhausted all the quests and secrets on the map, which makes it a pain to actually try a new character at later world levels. I'm still having fun enough, though. Current event is genuinely great.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, my first view of Liyue was quite impressive... I must have been standing somewhere here (at the center of this part of the map up on the mountain) looking down to the restaurant. Though while I saw every corner of Mondstadt I was already over it for Liyue and directly went for the teleporters... that looking around searching for resources and turning every stone is the part I like the least in games like these (well, besides the constant switching and comparing items, artifacts and weapons in this case - luckily there's not too much of that once you've settled for some and can use everything else to level them up with all the stuff you find). But yes, in general it's just a really nice looking game!

I haven't started with the quests in Liyue, yet... apart from very few very short world quests.

True. I was confused what all that was about first time I saw it. The game actually was the first time I heard that name Gacha for something like that - I only knew stuff like that as lootboxes. Different name but same sheme. But at least their pity system is something positive about it.

Won't there be an update where a new big part of the map will be added along with new story and quests? Isn't this what they've done before with Dragonspine?

Blessings is only 5$? It's 5,50€ for me - that's 6,50$.

And what do you do with those 300 Genesis Crystals from the blessing? From what I've seen in the Shop there's only character skins (which are MUCH more than that) or the small supply bundle - which also doesn't seem worth it. And the 90 Primogems per day I assume you use for wishes?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The paid battle pass gives talent up books and mora. Mora especially is a big bottleneck to, well, everything. Everything costs money to upgrade.

Those unlocked paid weapons at battle pass level 30 can be very worth it because they provide the very valuable Crit Rate stat.

Enhancement ore is pretty meh, those can be farmed freely in your world or by visiting another person's world.

300 Genesis Crystals - since the introduction of skins in the latest patch, those can be directly turned to primogems, or saved up for a character skin that you want. Personally I'm saving mine and letting them accumulate for a future skin (most likely when a Klee/Venti/Zhongli skin that I want comes).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, I start to see how everything starts to bottleneck having levelled my 5 or 6 main characters up to 50. Just pulled a new one and I see how I'm going to have trouble levelling them up as instant as I basically could do it with all the others...

How do you farm enhancement ores other than from chests? And how do you get them from other player's world?

Ok, but that 1:1 conversion rate seems really steep... though I guess it's ok if you're missing a few primogems and a timer is about to run out.

https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Mining_Outcrops

Crystal ores for enhancement located on specific map areas replenish ~1-2 days, I forget which. There are NPCs you can speak to daily, 2 hours after daily reset which is at 4am server time, that reveal crystal + magical ore spawn points. These can be farmed daily if you so wish.

Talking daily to the blacksmiths in Mondstadt and Liyue reveal a good amount of them each day, the rest are covered in the above link.

If you play co-op, enhancement ore drops from destroyed ores in the world are distributed amongst all nearby players (so it's a good idea to stick near each other for ore gathering purposes) and each player gets their own loot that only they can see/claim so there's no sniping other ores from other players, everyone gets an equal share.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Wait, are you saying you can craft those levelling up ores from crystal ores? Ok, that's news to me. I didn't look too much into what the Smith or Alchemy table has to offer. I only crafted what the game asked me for, a polearm for Xiangling and converted some lower level item into higher ones to level up characters.

Right now I'm sending characters of mine of those missions which I set to run for 20 hours to get some ores in stock. I just thought it was a good idea to get them as I'd potentially need that later on to ascend or craft weapons.

Yeah, I've heard kicking people who teleport away from you in multiplayer to keep them from "stealing" is a good idea anyways. I haven't ever given the mulitplayer part a try though, so I'm not really sure how that all works, yet.

EDIT: I've just checked and sure enough, those enhancement ores are listed first place at the smith 🤦‍♂️ But crafting them is limited to only 5? Is that 5 a day or in total? Total would seem like not even worth putting in the game in the first place...

EDIT 2: Ok, it's 5 at once, then 5 more and so on. By the way, what are those purple chrystals for which you can only get from shooting them with a fire boosted arrow, those electro crystals?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes, expeditions are a good idea when you can.

Common courtesy for people joining is to ask that they wanna farm in your world. At least from my experience many people do ask beforehand what they wanna do before going to some location. If they join your world and they just go off teleporting to some location without asking lol, yeah maybe wanna say something or immediately kick them off your world depending.

For crystal ores you can do batches of 5 and you can have 4 of them at once, so 20. There's a daily limit to how much you can craft each day but it's not much of a hindrance, at least personally I don't pay much mind to it and there are days that I don't even hit the limit.

The electro crystals are for crafting certain things, can't say I use them all that much.

like eigan said, the level 30 battle pass sword for me was amazing, its rare to get main stat crit weapons. and so for instance, the main crit stated sword is crazy good, even just at base refinment level makes that sword worth it, but ive bought battle pass enough to max out my refinement level with it to 5.

which is crazy good buffs on that sword my main dps is a sword user and he never needs a healer just cuz i maxed that sword out plus instantly gives 40% more damage just by equipping it. so physical damage wise i do about 10k-11k per crit. which he only ever crits.

but i know plenty of free to play players that do double my damage, so its really not required to be strong.

only other benefits to BP buying in my eyes is the 4 fates you get for rolling on event banner. so its kinda like 640 primo gems i guess if you wanna look at it that way. otherwise its mostly just for the sword, everything else can be gotten free with resin

i mostly just save my genesis crystals to use as emergency primo gems. like if im 320 primo away from doing another 10 roll on event banner, but event banner expires in a few hours, ill just use them to buy 2 spins more so i can 10 roll to try for the 5* character lol

You can buy the battle pass more than once per season or do the "prizes" at the end not change every season? I'm only really familiar with call of duty battle passes where you actually get different stuff (characters, weapons, skins,...) with every new battle pass.

I mean, if someone plays a game constantly week and month after month, the 11€ a month aren't too much especially compared to what other activities could cost one single evening out.

The battle pass lasts ~42 days.

There are 2 kinds of battle passes, the more expensive one gives a namecard and maybe a teapot furnishing and some fragile resin.

The "prizes" have barely changed, they added fragile resin some time ago but otherwise there hasn't been much change.

The battle pass weapons have remained the same since the start.

Co-op is one aspect the game that needs a real boost imho.
From my experience, if the World Level difference between two players is of, say three or four levels, then there's really little fun to be had in co-op since there is currently little non-grindy content to experience together, and when it comes to grind then the lower AR player is more of a deadweight then any real contribution.
Would love to see co-op evolve.

New characters get obtained/introduced, and much of the grind is in trying to improve artifacts.

I can see that with artifacts - which really seems to come down to luck to get the ones you want/need. I have almost none of the recommended and apparently I'm far from getting some. And I guess right now would be a good time to get some, considering my enemies got much stronger last night. That happened quite abrupt actually - and I didn't rise the world level... I just went from AR 31 to 32.

As for new characters... I mean if you're happy with the team you're running - no need to get new ones.

AR45 is about the recommended time to farm domain artifacts because of the guaranteed 5* drop at AR45.

Before that, just focus on getting good main stats for the character, as well as obtaining talent books/ascension materials/mora.

As for the domains (being AR 32) I only do them to get the items I need to level ascend my weapons. I've done one of those blessing domains to get the checkmark in my adventurers book, but that was very close to my team level and not easy (though I still managed to beat it first try with about 20 seconds left.) That domain also has the artifacts recommended for Barbara but when I saw the recommended level... yeah... I guess that's quite a bit away in the future.

Do you have any suggestions how to best farm 2 and 3 star artifacts to level the artifacts that I already have euqipped?

Random world chests aka from exploring for artifact fodder, weekly world bosses (there should be 4), and then there are artifact routes that also replenish daily (but this doesn't really sound all that compelling to do so it's up to you).

Example of artifact route:
https://fragstrat.com/genshin-impact/daily-artifact-exp-farming-route

The artifact route can take maybe 20-30 minutes to do on a daily basis so it's up to you whether this is something you want to do or not.

And if you really really want more fodder, some of the tougher enemies encountered in the wild can drop them too, but this is extreme, random, and can be a slog to do.

Thanks for all the info! I only have heard of such routes for chests... and never actually gone on one. That's all new to me.

Just wondering: In your previous link about the Mining Outcrops there was Magical Crystal Chunks mentioned which would show up at AR30 and up. Indeed I haven't seen them before. But going to one of those places there was only Chrystal Chunks and White Iron. The wiki said "and" making me assume I'd find Crystal Chunks and Magical Crystal Chunks - are you aware of them changing anything about rising the AR 30 limit?

I'm not sure if they're tied to AR.

Magical crystal chunks aren't really important so don't worry about it. They use up resin, and you probably have better uses for resin aside from magical crystals.

I mean, currently I don't use all my resin every day. Twice I was ascending all my weapons so I needed to exchange some of that other resin to get 60 more, but other than that, crafting experience crystals with it seems better than letting it go to waste (i.e. stop gaining more because I've reached the 160 cap).

no , you need to farm items to lvl up artifacts , skills ,character levels it never ends and the higher adventure rank you have the game is getting harder so it never stops it is endless farm

Unfortunately i'm an fps snob. 144hz g-sync monitor, 60fps still makes my eyes hurt. I wish I could play it, but for me it's unplayable at 60fps. I don't know if it's something with my setup but anything 60 or less I see the damn frames skipping.

I think there has to be a different issue than 60 fps. I played Half Life 2 back in the day when it was new in 15-20 fps with no issues at all. Are you playing in the dark with the monitor being the only light source? If you refuse to switch on the lights or open the blinds, at least put a lamp behind the screen to de-stress your eyes. You won't believe what a difference it makes until you've had it for a few days.

I think I am just too used to high frames. I used to be a console only player but when I built my rig I didn't go on the console for months then I jumped back on the console and any game I played I could notice the frames. I do play in a dark room though so will give the lighting tip a go for a few weeks, will update if it works, i've never heared that tip before and i've searched for a solution to my issue with -60fps so thank you for that!

After long days and additional hours long play sessions on the PC I often ended my day with my eyes squinting and dry eyes also became a major issue over the years. Some years back, when I got my Dell screen I've started to use the paper setting for normal PC use. It's shifting the colors towards yellow and certainly much noticeable right after switching but only a few minutes in you get over it. That helped a lot. Then problems with the eyes came up again and I put a cheap chinese LED light strip behind the screen - which was nice because it losend up the contrast just so much but that wasn't the best either - after all the 1-2 meters were only powered via USB. Just recently I got me a Yeelight Bulb 1SE which I screwed into an old desk lamp behind the screen... it's perfect. Having the background at about the same light leven as the screen makes long hours on the screen just so much more endurable - not more eye squinting when turning the PC off anymore. And if I want to I can even have it be an Ambilight backlight syncing with the average color of the whole screen or a section of it - just like actual Ambilight. Though I hardly ever use that and have it on blue-white over the day and more shifted to yellow/red in the evening or late at night.
What I mean is - and I hope you don't get this wrong - 60 fps are perfectly fine. Hardly anyone has the hardware to deliver more than that or even that at highest details for recent games anyways. So you seeing it - I'm having doubts though I wouldn't doubt it if you're only playing competitive shooters or if you went from 25 FPS on console to 40-60 on PC. Either way, the backlight certainly will help your eyes out. If not now then definitely in the long run!

I use f.lux so my eyes are usually fine, I see what you mean though in the long term, might invest in those philips hue play light bars. Although I've been messing around with a few things and managed to get guild wars 2 to run smooth as butter at 60fps, set the refresh rate to 60hz in nvidia and limited to 60. Never thought to try it because I assumed 1. Gsync would be making it 60hz. 2. 144hz is faster/smoother than 60hz. Weird.

Ah, ok. A tool like that wouldn't work for me as my times hardly ever match up with day/night times - which is what controls f.lux or most other implementations like that.
Yeah... philips hue... of you want to pay 130€ for a pair of bars plus another 200€ for the controller. That's plain ridiculous. The Yeelight cost me only 16€ from a chinese shop, shipped from a neighbouring country. Didn't even take a week to arrive. And I could have gotten it for 25€ on Amazon. I absolutely cannot see how one would pay the upcharge for the Philips system when the outcome is the same. Unless one has money to burn.
This might by a surprising question but have you ever tried using v-sync? I hadn't used it for the most of the 11 years it is around now. Only when I was really getting into Call of Duty Modern Warfar about 1.5 years back it made an actual difference to me. Without it the game wasn't running smooth - with v-sync though it was perfectly fine... on a 60 FPS screen. A higher refresh rate only makes sense (to me) when it comes to either competitive or, well, hardcore gaming in shooters where you otherwise miss out on frames and therefore tracking of the opponent.

I say philips hue because i've already got my living room fitted with it so i've got the hub and some spares, it's not that expensive here. £30 for a pack of 2. I have messed around with vsync but only when I was on 144hz, not 60hz 60fps locked, vsync helps if it goes below though right and works in conjunction with gsync? or is it one or the other... nonetheless some games seem to be fine at 60fps if i change to 60hz, some not so fine. Will give genshin another go at 60hz \o/

Ok, but that hub in your living room on the TV won't help you much if you want it on your PC as well. In that case you'd need a second one. It's just something I cannot justify the crazy prices - but that's just me, I know. But for just a regular lamp that doesn't matter much anyways.
The thing with v-sync is that only recently Nvidia gave users the option to even turn it off independently from g-sync. Considering that of course they work together. And while I don't have an Nvidia card myself I know that there's even more options other than just on and off. With v-sync though it's that once FPS goes below or above the g-sync FPS cap it takes over and prevents tearing. The same might be true in situations where FPS fluctuates too fast for your screen's internal signal processing to keep up with it. Either way, I certainly would turn. You could run tests and provoke situations where you typically can see what you interpret as stuttering (assuming that's your issue with low frame rate) and see if it actually is tearing and fixed with v-sync on. Again, in normal settings (watching movies, surfing the web, slow games like adventures or platformers - anything that's not extremely fast paced shooters) you shouldn't even see any issues way below 60 fps. Now of course other issues can occur due to differing response times which change at different a screens frequencies but that's something that's only set by the panels and the screen's electronics quality - there's nothing you can do about that within the driver settings.
Anyways, good luck on your second try - have fun!

What makes me wonder is that it is supposed to be a Chinese game, but there is no search information in China.

It's a very strange phenomenon.👀
There are a lot of strange and uncomfortable reports and advertisements, and when I think about the relationships behind them, I feel the threat of cattle mutilation and assassination, and I can't play anymore.

Oh, by the way, I had an accident six months ago. .... Was almost assassinated by a fan?

Played for about a week, then did the math on the gambling, and it would of taken $100,000+ to get the characters I wanted.
No thanks

.I rather just buy a complete game for $60, then waste money on gambling that goes well beyond a games price.

What were your issues with it?

Oh boy, ahem scrapes throat:

  • FB game like stamina system which stops character progression to a crawl. Need materials to ascend your character so you can level it further? You need stamina. Need materials to ascend your weapon so you can level it further? You need stamina. Need to level character's skills called talents? You need stamina. Need artefacts to increase your character's stats or upgrade your current artefacts? You need stamina. Short on gold or XP tomes? You need stamina. You're lucky if your day worth of stamina (which you burn through in less than 20 mins of playing) is enough to upgrade 1 of those things once.
  • End-game being doing almost the same 4 daily tasks, and burning your stamina in 20 minutes. Day in, day out. Which got boring.
  • At end-game, the gacha tickets you get drops significantly.
  • Not only characters being gacha, weapons are too. So double the gambling. And in character gacha, you mostly pull trash weapons with an occasional character here and there...
  • Gacha having the worst rates than any other gacha I've played (so far). At 80 pulls you have a soft-pity that gives 50% chance of giving you the 5star character/weapon of the banner you're pulling from. You need to hit the soft pity twice to get the character/weapon guaranteed, that's only 160 pulls.
  • Unlocking a character is only 1/7th of its potential. You need another 6 copies to get the full potential by unlocking their constellations. Which are becoming more and more power creep with every new character, especially Childe and Zhongli (after buff patch).
  • Power creep already being rampart from the 2nd character added to the game (which was 1 month after release), and is only increasing with each new release. Only exception is Zhongli, which took a community outcry to buff. Which ironically increased the power creep more.
  • Speaking of Zhongli's out cry, the initial developer's stream showed gameplay of him (with damage numbers) of him being super strong a few days before his release. Then when he was released it turns out he was nerfed. When the developers where confronted their initial response was "learn 2 play".
  • At the time I was playing there was a hacking issue where lots of people lost their account, the game had no 2FA to prevent this. Not sure if it does now since I don't play the game anymore.
  • To add to the above point, some one on Reddit had their account hacked and MiHoYo refused to restore it because the hacker made a $1 payment on their account. The person in question showed video evidence to show it wasn't fake. But the fans on Reddit kept moving the goalpost to what is considered evidence to the point they demanded personal information of that person.

And I know what you're thinking about the power creep or the fact that you need multiple copies of characters/weapons to get their full potential: "Dooder, this is a PvE game. Who cares? You can do all the content with the base character anyway"... Well:

Honkai Impact (MiHoYo's other game, which lore wise is connected to Genshin) started exactly the same way as Genshin right now. Genshin even has the exact same end-game dungeon (the Abyss) as Honkai did at release. After a little while people accepted the power creep since "it is a PvE game anyway" till the Abyss got replaced by a player leaderboard challenge where you get better rewards the higher you are in the leaderboard.

All of the above combined just made just made the game frustrating, annoying and made me realise there are better games on the market to play. At least on PC. Which even payed games, would be cheaper than pulling in this gacha.

Opened it up on PS4 for a few hours on a particularly meh day to see what the hype was all about, ended up annoyed just at the sheer amount of running you have to do to get from one place to another. Honestly, with how big the online buzz is about this game, it's like I'm playing it without actually playing, so that does a lot to my Hype Aversion (TM).

Yeah, like Serale said: You unlock new regions and every region has multiple telepoters that you need to have visited once by foot before you can use them. It's not that bad and exploring the world and e.g. solve puzzles that you come across is part of the game.

Now, how do I say this... a few hours means that I did not get anywhere in the story. I unlocked Kaeya and Lisa, but the quests after that were just too tedious to be done quickly, so I gave up. The mix of that, the aforementioned online buzz and getting distracted by friends constantly messaging back and forth at the time just didn't let me have fun with it. I think it's frankly impossible now, but I don't feel bad about it because there are quite literally tens of thousands of other media I wanna experience before I die xD

I started playing like 2 months after it was out until today, enjoying it but so far I am getting slightly bored because I want the next story area to come out already, been forever since the main story is being expanded... keep getting fillers, although I don't mind the free primogems these filler events give me lol... but as for the story itself, it intrigues me so much so even if I do take a break, I'll come back to see what happens next.

Also, gacha or not, I paid a grand total of $10 to support this game and nothing else after that and have zero problems clearing all the content it has to offer. I don't need the fancy 5 stars, the 4 star characters I own are already amazing. I field all but one character as 4 stars and clear the hardest content fine enough so no this isn't a p2w game in the slightest. the hardest content: spiral abyss needs you eventually to use 2 teams, so you need 8 characters geared in total but for every other content you just need 4 characters

Edit: Oh. And I play on Asia servers mostly solo though. Coop on this game is utter shit lol

Oh... maybe I should give the Abyss another try - floor 9 is still far away though. Haven't really been there since I got Xiangling.
Talking of it, room 2 floor 3 was so much harder than room 3. The third was actually quite easy and a simple sweep while I struggled with the second and had to give it multiple tries to finish it.
