Have you ever played Genshin Impact?
Rerolled accounts when the game first came out but then stopped playing completely shortly after to focus more on my Steam backlog / school. I recently got back into it 2 weeks ago, but it's been slowing down now that I've run out of quests around AR 43. I usually try to stay away from gacha hero games (preferring King's Raid where pretty much everything else is RNG for gearing, but you have access to all the characters), but my friends have been playing Genshin since Day 1 and keep praising it so I'm trying to stick with it.

I made multiple accounts because I wanted to roll a good 5*, I think I was aiming for Venti or Keqing at the time. When I didn't get good luck with my pulls, I'd start over and try again. Ended up getting tired of the process after a while and just stuck with an account that had rolled Qiqi and Mona.

Hm. See, when I started I didn't even know what to expect. I just started playing and only later found out about the wishes. And even then I didn't quite get at first that there was such a big difference between character assuming everything was well balanced. So re-rolling wasn't ever a thought I had - and I don't think that is how one should start the game looking back at it. So I can absolutely see how you got tired of it.
Apart from that, Mona and Qiqi are 5-star characters - what's wrong with them (just wondering as I got Qiqi last night from a wish).

I enjoy it pretty much. Dismissed it when it released because gacha but decided to give it a try after a few weeks while everyone was still hyping it. Hype died pretty quick but I found myself enjoying the gameplay despite the P2W mechanics, which surprised myself. I wouldn't really recommend the game to anyone since it gets repetitive very quickly but I still enjoy playing it daily in short bursts and consider it the most tolerable P2W/gacha I've ever tried.

Being AR 32 now I think I'd recommend it to others. You can play it for the story and not care much about the P2W part of it. It's what I do.

Started playing it because my PC was dead and Genshin is running on my phone.
It's quite good for its visuals (if you like this minimalist highly colored art style), and the dynamism of the fast paced combats. (works correctly on my low cost phone, with glitches, but playable with some patience)
The story is ranging from above the average to meh, yet it's not bad. It's not very lengthy.
There's a huge lot of grinding to evolve the characters : even if you're willing to pay, you'll have to grind that money 😂
There's not many different mobs, and it makes the combats quite repetitive : it progressively becomes more and more technical to correctly use all your team abilities to win the fights.
If you want an advice, take care of choosing carefully when you level up your world level (with the special quest unlocking at AR 25) : the adventure XP you accumulate before leveling up WL will carry over after and it can make you level up 10 ARs as soon as you end the special quest (not more because of the next special quest locking your next WL). Mobs levels on the map depends on your AR, thus 10 ARs makes a huge gap in difficulty ! You'll have to plan ahead to choose between upgrading your WL ASAP to avoid stacking adventure XP, or the opposite stack adventure XP to take the time to upgrade your team to the point each fight is laughably easy before upgrading WL to have a team strong enough for the big raise in difficulty.
So... easy to start, difficult to master (I suppose)

Yeah, I wasn't able to finish the AL25 quest at first. By the time I gave it a second try (and finished it) I jumped right to AL27. Most of the enemies I enounter are still relatively easy and just last night I've progressed all but one character of my team to level 50, all with weapons almost just as high as them each. So for now world level isn't too big of a problem - unless for the huge bosses, that's can still be quite a bit hairy (and deadly).

I play everyday since Dragonspine update (EU). As usual with this type of games, it was really fun at the beginning, although writing and lore looks a bit poor to me. I'm f2p and it's cool how you can have similar account to people who pay and there is no paywall. Now when my whole world is explored there is nothing to do, except for daily grind and waiting for events. Waiting for updates for weeks starts to get boring and I think of quitting, but the gameplay, gacha and events are still enjoyable and it's difficult to me to break daily streak, so maybe I'm addicted haha.

Two days ago I did my last beginners wishes - I pulled Diluc and in the following and last of the 20 beginners wishes I had I got the Skyward Pride claymore. Which seems to be one of the preferred weapons for him. Perfect!
And last night, right before turning off the PC I got Qiqi from the Klee banner - my second 5-star character after Diluc. I gave her a Favonius Sword that I had left over in my inventory but honestly, I don't even know what to do with her. I was thinking about giving her Kaeya's equipment and run with that for a while, since both of them are Ice emelents but I just stopped using him as he wasn't good enough anymore compared to my main characters (which he was one of until I got Diluc).
I'm currently running Diluc, Sucrose, Xiangling and Fishl (sometimes I replace one of the latter two with Barbary to get some HP back). I'd be interested to replace one of them with Qiqi since she's dealing both damage (physical and elemtal) as well is healing the team - once I figured out how to equip her (with what I have). Any thoughts or suggestion?

Pulling a 5* off beginner wishes is incredible luck, grats!
The Skyward Pride, are you sure it's from Beginners' Wish banner? From what I understand, the Beginners' Wish only gives characters. Now if you pulled 5* Skyward Pride off of free standard fates, then yeah I'd say the game wants you to continue lol because you have unreal luck.
Can't comment on Qiqi, I don't have her and don't know her playstyle personally aside from what I see in other peoples' gameplay.
If talking overworld, maybe replace Xiangling or Fischl for a healer/shielder -- so Qiqi or Barbara). If you want bow utility for shooting overworld things, keep Fischl in team. If you want pyro resonance, keep Xiangling in team and enjoy increased attack pyro resonance.
For abyss, Xiangling is plenty popular and sees plenty of use.
Diluc will serve you well currently as a primary damage dealer.

You are right, I've just checked my wish history. Also, Diluc apparently wasn't my last Beginners wish - it was a 10x wish so of course he got displayed last as he's the best out of the 10 things I pulled. Because of that I assumed that he was the (second) last pull while he actually was 7th last (6th last was my 4th Sucrose so she's already C3 and my main damage dealer via elemental reaction). And the Skyward Pride was from a Standard wish which I did right after.
Oof... if this luck is unreal I just wish my luck would show in other parts of my life instead. I'd happily deal with crappy characters and in turn be even just a little more healthy. 🙄
Qiqi is another 5-star character - as said, she was from the Klee banner.
I only use Xiangling for her Ultimate and that little bear - and then swap right back to either Diluc or Sucrose. Although I like those Fischl seems to be more powerful generally (except against ice). Yeah, pyro resonance was why I originally took her in the team - plus, I only have her maybe for four days now, so I was still trying her out. I mean, I do not not like her - I certainly favor her over others like Noelle, Lisa or Amber.

I think there is no point recommending a game that's this popular already and with such reputation, I mean it's already free so there is no excuse to not at least give it a try even if you're not into that type of games, I recall it was competing for GOTY on both PC and android platforms last year, I've been playing since the start at the time I practically gave up on gaming it just sucked me in, although my daily routine right now at AR 56 is do daily commissions and spend my daily resin it takes about 20 minutes every day, but I still know that they'll keep releasing stuff that'll keep me hooked, whenever they release new areas like they did with Dragonspine or the current Golden Apple Archipelago I stay up all day and night exploring them and do side missions till I am left with nothing to do, my favorite aspect of the game obviously is exploration and puzzles since I am a sucker for open world exploration games, my second favorite aspect is collecting characters, I've been an F2P from the start but I got a good amount of strong characters already, I may not use them all but it just feels so good to have them, you get rewarded for your exploration after all for opening chest, doing side quests, etc.. with Primogems that you can use to spin for characters / weapons, I've been playing solo from the start only using Co-op for domains or bosses I can't defeat alone sometimes but I am definitely willing to explore with you, help you with bosses, do domains, etc,, here's my ID feel free to add me: 705308753

Hm... I can't really complain with the characters I've been getting so far. Sure, I'd like to have Klee from the current banner but on the other hand I am also not keen having to level her up. So I'm fine even if I won't get her. After all my wishes will still count towards the following banner and highly increase my chances to whoever is available there. So the game being a gasha game doesn't seem to be an issue to me... or it's just hat I don't have to money to spend on a gasha game in the first place that keeps me from being seduced into spending... who knows.

I played it more than 6 months
It is an addictive game which has some nice story telling.
Gatcha system forces you to spend lots of money.
And developer wants to take everything extremely slow so they can make you crave for a new hero and weapon every two weeks.
By the way the amount of money they earned in six months is so ridicilous you wonder why development is so slow.
Also they are cheap as hell. Celebration gifts of new year made everyone react.
Monthly logins worth 1/3 of 1 pull.
Also you need good equipment and people sometimes spends weeks grinding and can't get usefull one.
If you are rich and want to spend 1-2 hours everyday so you won't waste any energy (or you can buy energy) go for it. I really loved it.
Of cource you can be F2P and extremely casual and I have to warn you game really forces you not to.

Currently just trying to get over AR 35 so I can continue with the story and get quests to do (the last two days none apart from the dailies - ok, I had found one single very short world quest).

If it is tedious after level 45 or 50, having nothing to do but still has a long way to go for a company that is not so well known and that has "impacted" in that way.
You can get 3 rolls of 10 on each banner, after Klee comes kazuha ...
and in 1.7 inazuma with 20,000 protogems to take out and banner of ayaka and yoimiya ... in 1.8-2.0 probably rerun of characters (in case you missed them) and also new electro characters
history is fascinating beyond the 7 nations ... the "8va", celestia, etc
I don't like xingchiu very much because for dps it doesn't hit but as a support it is very good (not at level S as they sell it to you) since the only 4 characters that fall into the tier S category are razor and yanfei.
I have explored the map 100%, there is no chest that I have left
and if they are going to include more places like dragospine ... it is expected that in 1.8-1.9 they will include the characters dendro and the chasm (chasm or abyss)
by 2.0 they would end the second half of inazuma

The game a few months ago acquired a 2FA factor (in fact one day I entered my account and they had changed my equipment and spent protos) then I decided to throw my only solitary throw for Rosario and take out Tartaglia so they did me a good ... Before introducing the 2FA, there were programs that they used for when you enter multiplayer domains, where they can get your data just to play with them, but they usually look for the accounts that put $ to steal and sell them or to ruin them (use a 5 weapon to upload a 3 for example)
There are still people waiting for the rivals of the genshin impact (I'm talking about Bandai's blue protocol) and tower of fantasy (both have not yet come out)
but then there is another one that is total GI plagiarism, called the legend of neverland
The current event, although for some it is stuffed, is quite good and they add it as an advance to inazuma so that we can see how it will be and get used to the idea (similarities such as the ship and other things, but it has much more different in which I do not want to go into detail because it would never end and it is a spoiler: new mechanics, weapons, enemies, etc)
Make the most of the oz + guoba combo (fischl and xiangling) and to that you add barbara and traveler (you will see that you will break any enemy in world levels below 5 ... and more when sayu arrives in the next version (she can also invoke an assistant)
she will go to my abyss team for that combo with xiang and fischl
the current banner let's say that klee at the time (first appearance of the banner) obtained the highest amount of money raised and was very rotisimo ... but for the current version it has remained very weak, they have surpassed it ... look yanfei is 4 * and has twice the speed, range and damage (it's grade S), mine is getting 50k on charged attacks

I hope they'll give ships a boost for their base speed though... it's gets quite annoying after a while when you have to ship far distances pretty quick.
I'm not using Xiangling anymore. My current team is Diluc and Sucrose as mains the Qiqi and Fischl.

I think I've made a terrible mistake... I've just finished the Adventure Rank Ascension 2 Quest (or Domain?) at AR35, with a party lvl of 47.5 (3x lvl 50, 1x lvl 40). Originally I just wanted to take a look to see what to expect and then leave again, but it worked surprisingly well. And even though it took me a while and some of my characters had to be revived in between I still managed to finish the electro hypostasis 1.5 minutes early on the first try.
Now the bad part... world mobs went straight from previously lvl 40-47 (sometimes easy other times a little demanding but all on a fun level) to 61! I can't see me go do my daily playing while having fun doing it anywhere near in the future. Is that a bug or did the game expect me to actually be the recommended party level 60? Then why make it mandatory after AR 35 already? Because if my team was that high, I guess the world mobs at about the same level would just be kinda normal. But like that,... as high as my mood was about beating the Ascension Quest as low it is now for not really being able to play the game anymore while having fun at it (instead of constant death right around the next corner).
Is there anything I can do about this? My world level is now 4. Feels like it went from 2 straight to 4... 🤔
I mean, I wanted to try to start and finish the "harpastum bombs loaded..." part of the summer event before it's over and while the first three camps were manageable to clear the forth one has a lvl 60 stone lawachurl in it - there's just nothing I can do about it with my team and the weapons they have. It's ridiculous - and 2 mages on top. I managed to get rid of his shield and about 1/6 of his HP but then I was dead. All party members gone.

It is totally doable. The overworld is pretty easy to handle with under-leveled characters and the suggested level doesn't really matter unless you are in a domain or abyss.

The event ends in 1-5 days. A lvl 60 stone lavachurl along with two mages blows me to dust without any effort. There is nothing at all I can do about it and be able to finish the event in time.
For ascension I need material that I don't have. My highest characters are level 50, my two highest weapons are level 60. Suggested level for domains with the material needed to further level up is 59 - and as you say, in a domain it matters that I'm only 47.5 with my best team.
Also, I have nothing to level up my artifacts. I just did this earlier today and to get more I'd need to beat more mobs - which I hardly can because they are way overpowered. I'm effed. Also, I mostly do damage with elemental reactions - that's how I win my fights. So crit and atk stats on artifacts aren't that helpful. I'm trying to keep elemental mastery and elemental recharge high and it works (as can be seen by me finishing the ascension 2 quest with a much lower level than suggested).
That's simply bad game design. If the quest is meant to be that hard then a player shouldn't be able to enter if he's not strong enough to keep up afterwards. Also, if the quest is that hard, then it shouldn't be at AR35. I mean I feel like for where I'm at my characters are - well, have been until this point - really strong but difficulty should scale with the player instead of jumping 10 levels above them. But that's just my opinion.

If anything else, you can ask higher level players to help you. If you don't have friends you can ask, you can try your luck on community discord.
P.S. Unless you are building overload/electrocharge/swirl team, Crit stats is actually the most sought after attributes in the late game. ATK also applies to elemental reaction damage and scales better than elemental mastery for the most part.

Don't be sorry about it - my bad. I'm sorry if I came off a bit rude. My frustration with the game was through the roof. And it turns out I was quite stupid at it: Yes, Enemies are lvl 60 which is very tough... but that stone lavachurl was part of the event - and in that event we should use those bombs instaed of our weapons. Unfortunately the game once again didn't do a good job explaining what when where to do so I went in with the weapons I had on my. I assumed those bombs where to be used on the boat - not thrown around by hand. As I couldn't figure out what to do with the and how to use them I turned to Youtube and after I know what to do with them it was actually pretty ease and I've finished the event by now, even farmed a bit more of that currency so I could get everything that was availale in the shop. So yeah... again, sorry, my bad.

At least personally I think there's a bit of a difficulty curve around AR 35-40 all the way up to AR 45. The domains especially at AR 45 can be quite challenging.
Oh and yes, generally expect enemies to be higher level than your characters, this applies even to high AR players unless you just happen to have a plentiful amount of leveling books and mora. You're also reaching the point where you'll have to decide which character or two you want to become your main damage dealer(s) aka your main DPSs. Support characters can be left around lvl 50 or 60 for now (and stay there for quite a while), and then your 1-2 DPS can go a bit further. Character levels are deceptive in that they unlock the power level of a character primarily because they unlock ascensions (which can be important depending on the character) and also unlocking the possibility to level autoattacks/skills/bursts (which are super duper important and you may have to specialize depending on what the most immediate role that specific character intends to be).
Also for the "Harpastum Bombs Loaded" event, craft those 3 bombs, those do tremendous damage and are very overpowered.
For the stone lawachurl you may need a shield breaker (claymores, or electro, or certain specific charged attackers) but those overpowered bombs should destroy enemies pretty handily and so a shield breaker may not be needed at all, please use them.

Yeah, Diluc and Sucrose are my main damage guys along with Fischl/or Xingqiu all for elemental reactions and since today Qiqi as my new healer/ice character. Previously I used Kaeya and Barbara who I put in temporarily when some needed a bit healing. So Diluc, Surcose, Qiq and Fischl are my main focus now. Though, I just got Razor tonight and have still to figure out what to do with him... and in general I'm not too confident in what to do with artifacts. Since I go for ER I try to stick with elemental mastery and elemental recharge Diluc I gave a bit more attack and while he's killing it's just so slow compared to ER.
What are autoattacks? They automatically attack enemies when you let them stand there and idle? But yeah, I've levelled up the talents on most of those guys as far as I could.
Yeah, I figured that part out with the bombs - finished the event and got everything the shop had... it was quite easy once I knew not to go at them with the sword but the bombs. My bad.

Diluc doesn't really need Energy Recharge, at 40 cost he gets his Burst back really quickly, often when the cooldown timer isn't even up yet. Diluc also really likes Xingqiu for constant vaporize reactions.
Sucrose isn't really a DPS per se, but hey, if you want to, you can make it work. She's an excellent damage amplifier with swirls though.
Autoattacks = Normal Attacks, it's the first skill that can be leveled under Talents. It's the regular attack for characters.
Especially when resources are low, not everyone will need to level Normal Attacks, and you might even need to prioritize between leveling a Skill, or a Burst.

With "40 cost" you mean "40% energy recharge"?
My Sucrose melts any type of Hilichurl, large Hilichurl or small slime - so she's great in world exploring. But even with bosses and in domains I see her inflict most of the damage - all due to (at least I assume so) the 291 elemental mastery she has and the now lvl 70 Sacrificial Fragments. I've yet to find or build another character that's reliably so strong and quick to recharge (I've leveled her talents as far as I currently can).
If it's the regular (manual) attack for characters, why is it called autoattack?

I've never looked at the energy cost of things. I actually hardly looked at the talents section at all - only clicked in there, leveled up a talent and clicked out again.
So, is there a way to know how much energy regains within a certain amount of time and what the max total is one can have "stored"? I#ve never looked into any of this and only went by the more the better and that worked well so far. But sure optimizing would be good in a sense that I don't give them more of something they can't utilize anyways and therefore have room to use e.g. atk artifacts instead. Like, say I focus on elemental mastery and elemental recharge for one character but I end up giving them more than they can actually use then instead adding a little mor physical damage would benefit them much more.
The lvl 50/60 eye of perception she'd been using before was pretty good as well though I indeed did notice a little improvement when switching her to sacrificial fragment. She's the only character I have that I have nothing to complain about... for every other one there's something that could be better than it is.

Energy generation is quite complicated --

Basically, having the same element type particle/orb (those spherical things that fly and come out of enemies) obtained by a character adds more to energy than a different element type orb. You may want to have your active character stay in battle specifically to gather certain orbs, especially if they're same element type orbs. Some characters also generate energy better than others depending on skill used, and/or frequency of skill used.
Energy is also affected/modified by a specific character's energy recharge. Higher = faster energy gain for the element absorbing character.

razor is only dps and is not good for reactions, only for physical damage and its ulti (stay using it not change when you throw the ulti since you lose it)

Uhm... now that's giving me a great outlook. I'm playing alone. Also, multiplayer isn't that diverse in this game, is it? For me it typically wasn't the boredom in game that was an issue, it was more that I felt just so lonely... like in Ark: Survival evolved. Running around on the Island as the only player (when played locally in singleplayer) or even in Minecraft in my offline singleplayer world. That's what typically causes me to stop playing games like these (survival/exploration/building games). With Genshin Impact for now that's ok since - although playing alone - you run around with a team of characters and you can interact with NPCs that talk to you. (Not to mention the short statements the characters make when idling - which gets annoying rather sooner than later.) But I'm sure the loneliness will hit me in that game sooner or later, too.

It's mainly a problem in the late game.
You join, do your dailies, use the resin and logout.
When you are with friends, the game feels much more lively, also you are not that op since you deal less damage.
For example, a simple event like the archipelago and the boat racings can be really fun if you take 3-4 boats with your friends and pump up some Deja Vu, doing drifts and ramming into each other.

Day 1 player as well. From EU but main in NA due to friends and stuff.
Uh... I play it once in a full moon now even tho I used to have Welkin and stuff because I got pissed off at one point... Basically if there's any new story I'll go check it out...
Having a full meta Xiao main team and it being worthless because they hadn't implemented anything back then to deal with artifact RNG and the weapon gacha was a ripoff. The discord server was really toxic sometimes, some people there should have been kicked a long time ago and weren't while I saw at least one moderator be obviously biased and punish people out of jealousy. I left the server when I stopped playing daily and I'm happy I did. If I need any help the reddit is nicer than them.
I see some things now like you being able to do some weird wish thing with the weapon gacha but it's limited in a way and I saw some sort of artifact exchange but didn't even really glance twice at it. Back when I stopped playing foreal (around the Zhongli re-release) it was basically out of content.
Every day was a grind. Do your dailies. Spend your resin. Up your reputation in Mondstadt and Liyue. Don't forget the frost tree crap...
Events also changing from strategy to RNG didn't help... I don't like tower defence games but at least there's strategy in that. There's thinking. It makes you think about what characters to take and what positions to be in. After the lantern festival everything was "meh". People said they didn't like the domains and what did they do? They went and got the domains back. Quantity is not better than quality. I will always stand by that.
Last straw was when I had a weird bug where the menus didn't show up at all and basically no one gave two fucks. I had 2 months of Welkin still in so basically I was supporting the game and still. No fucks. Made the game unplayable because I couldn't see anything inside the UI.
I was looking forward to Inazuma and planning on rolling for Kazuha but I was so done by the time his banner came around that I decided I wasn't gonna invest any more money in the game. I didn't even login those last two months that I still had Welkin even tho I could have easily done it from my phone. I was very, very done wit mihoyo's BS.
tl;dr: If you like the game play it, the game itself has a lot of potential, the people working to MAKE IT are talented, the English VA's are really nice people, but MIHOYO is sleazy as ever loving fuck so think twice before spending irl money on it. There's also rumours of certain gacha characters having a death sign over them and it's not the first time that MIHOYO kills off characters in the plot that you rolled for making it... Really weird to run around the game world when you're supposed to be DEAD.
