Woke up this morning, as usual half asleep, and found a weird mail that steam sent a login attempt fom the US, and it was at a time when i was already in bed. So yeah bit of a scare at first.
Found this site by googling the ip https://www.abuseipdb.com/ and apparently that ip had like 33 various hack attempts on it's name.

Thank god, steam has that whole verification thing (do use it!), and offcourse changed my login info afterwards.

Happy, so: https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/QqQeW/chroma-squad

If you are bored of being a mod, maybe resign? Oh but wait you were the one that got paid didn't you?

Not the kind of behavior I'd expect to see from a moderator, lol.

This is not the first snide remark from him, and far worse, I dunno if it's something personal (and i suspect him to be in the same group as tzaar and doctorofjournalism) or if he is against more people like that.

And higher up mods naturally let this all slide and he doesn't get a slap on the wrist.

Understandable reaction but have in mind you don't have the insight of many things that happen behind the scenes, sort of speak (and the SG history of this particular user).

As long as you're following the basic guidelines when creating a topic (and putting it in a proper category), it's pretty much impossible to get in trouble for it. Really.

Do you think Fallout 76 is the best game ever and you want to talk about it? Sure. Nothing prevents you from opening a topic and debating other users. But when you open 20 separate topics in a week about why Fallout 76 is the best game ever, well that's a bit of an issue. I hope you understand what I'm trying to convey now.

It's also even more problematic since a tiny fraction of users figured out that if you put a giveaway link in your shitpost topic, you can pretty much get away with all sorts of written diarrhea that you inflict upon SG discussion. Because guess what, now it's a puzzle instead of.......something like this: https://i.imgur.com/nOK5u4G.png <------ In my opinion, this kind of sexist and transphobic garbage has no place on SG.

The sad thing is, he is not breaking any rules directly (for now, but we are working on making discussion guidelines a bit more concise in near future thanks to him, so something good might actually come out of all this one-man spam). But that's the thing with some folks on the internet. They really want to know where the line is, so they can get to it as close as possible without getting over it.

Those are 4 to 6 year old threads. It seems, that it's taking you a bit long to make "discussion guidelines a bit more concise in near future thanks to him".

No, I certainly don't like those thread titles, I don't share this dubious sense of humor presented in those threads. But those are things, that should have been dealt with then. Bringing them out now sounds much more like some personal vendetta, than behaving like a moderator should, IMO.

How about not naming and shaming rule? Should a moderator really write about "shitpost topics" and "written diarrhea" by any user in a public post? And posting a list of 10 very inappropriate topics selected from 1225 discussions created, shouldn't it be explained, that they are not consecutive and years old, which is not the 1st impression from the attached picture?

Please, take a cold shower and think it over. Cheers :)

I was looking some of his posts and some are just borderline random titles with a single video inside with no useful information (nor even funny imo)

Idk how things are now but once upon a time(feeling old now) i frequented numerous forums, before social media (ergo ancient times, really old).
And frankly?
Not a single one of then would allow spam like his. The screenshoted posts were from 4-6 years ago? I dont remenber being a regular in any forum someone doing half of all that would last a year.

Gamings news are nice, even blogging is nice. But even nice blogging could be considered spam depending on frequency. Context- this is about steam, gaming and gifts after all. Daily or close to it blogging is out of place even if all posts were interesting. This aint twitter after all.

This post is perfectly nice. Someone anyone else finding a similar situation would feel like sharing on steam or here, and serves as warning to others. But the little ive browsed from his posts that only seems to be like half or so of all posts or less, apparently less the further in the past it goes (but idk, i opened just a few).

A sarcastic post relating to spam in a topic which we find "perfectly nice" and then an all-out naming and shaming attack... I'm also not a youngster at 63 y.o., but in most forums I don't see moderators behaving like this, do you?

Hey xarabas, just to be clear, is that screenshot representative of Lugum's posts, or another user? I'm pretty certain it's not from Lugum, as as bloggish as their posts can be, they're usually pretty light and often gaming related, in my estimation. I'm not on the forums as frequently as a mod is likely to be though, so maybe I missed something?

Personally, I'm fine with people "blogging" here a bit. A limit of X topics in a day or an hour or something wouldn't be a bad idea, but we are a community, and it's fine for communities to want to discuss things that sometimes aren't related to the main topic of the site. (Provided it doesn't get out of hand, which is why there's the rules about politics, religion, hate speech, etc.)

If it's because of it being posted outside of "off topic", maybe say that. (I don't know if it is, the only drill-down I typically do is the "deals" section.)

They absolutely are, every single of those linked (and they come from a file on him from another moderator)

Oh please don't get me wrong, I would never be for limiting the number of discussions per day or per user. And you are absolutely right, anything is fine to write about in Off Topic section, as long as it follows the basic rules. It's just that I have some expectations of common sense when creating topics (from myself and others). Sure, a couple of silly and memetic threads can pass here and there (and I did create quite a bit of those as well ) but I like to think that not every single thing that comes to your mind is always worth sharing here.

It was, something i am not proud of but as my remark here, plus what Aydalin said we talking about something from 4-6 years ago.
Again if you haven't been here, this was a culture back then people trying to be "funny" with that, copying those titles in similar fashions and all mods let us go, i was by far the only one in this story and that is what Xarabas also is not mentioning.
He only tries to shift the blame on me for some reason.

Thing is, i grown over it years ago back then, but someone Xarabas never did.

Yes, he did, but as I have written above and as xarabas has forgot to mention in his reply to you, they are 4 to 6 y.o. posts. People change and some issues should be dealt, when they happen, not used out of context (is there anything abusive in this thread? - unless my English fails me, there isn't) years later.

yeah, I know one of my very first posts on this site was a bit of a shit post, and there are many things I've written in the past elsewhere that I'm embarrassed about now. if they were more recent, I could understand the roundabout warning, but four to six years ago... let it go, imho.

You do not make a note that those were threads in a period which alot of people were making such topics and threads, even copying eachothers title with a slight variation, what Aydaylin said we talk about 4-6 year old threads, should i have participated?
Perhaps not, but such where the way people acting like then, the whole culture was like that, and all mods allowed those things back then, and back then i was new, younger etc.
I haven't made them ever since.

So is that still a reason for you to react to me like you do several times? Certainly not, on the contrary, and you should have been slapped on the wrist for it. And why are you only replying to people that fit in your path? And not me or Aydaylin?

Also why only the nameshaming/calling out on me (which is also against the rules, again something as a mod you seem to forget) a whole group participated but somehow you only seem to pick me out.

Also a "file" on me by another moderator how far are you people going behind the scenes on people? Gives the question on how many you make such a file? It feels very very creepy.

I got stories, try to bring computer/game related news, sometimes even to warn others, i was happy tnat it had a very good ending with the amount of games i got, or should i just throw in my giveaways with a link, and that's it or something? That would be dull.
I ike to share gifts on the forum for the people that are nice, sorry for that, with the humble choice bug last week yeah i do got some more gifts.

There are people that spam far more, f,e this guy f.e with 4 threads, is spam. https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/wCrUs/what-game-you-wish-it-never-existed-and-why

Sorry for trying to bring some life in this forum, there is a group that actually appreciates most of my posts.
Can always ignore me. Not even to mention i also had weeks before that i barely posted (because i had no gifts).

They have posted 7 discussion threads within the past 3 weeks.

Within that same time frame, you have posted 14 discussion threads.

You literally post twice as much as the user you're complaining about.

Giveaways, concrete news about games/windows 11, about alec baldwin, where for a change you actually made a polite and concrete arguement..All to keep the forum active.

That is bad how? Atleast you can debate i post useful things rather then what do you think of this or that..? Eitherway there is no thread limit, so again why post?

I don't feel a need to change if i do nothing wrong now (yeah i changed how i post from 6 years ago), but apparently you don't change, i gave you a concrete reply, what else is there. let the forum die slowly with people not posting? That happened almost for awhile.

We know your status, wouldn't suprise me at all if you are all buddy buddy with xarabas.

And atleast i set goals.

You truly have no idea what you’re talking about. Just ask xarabas.

The fact that he and I both independently arrived at the same conclusion about you, is astonishingly damning on your part.

Nono don't go be twisting words again, He is afraid to reply back (i told him that) to what doesn't fit in his path, even to aydaylin, and just make the same random snide and low comments like you do.

You on the other hand love to troll and attack people, including me, so this is just a hobby for you, also if you again as a supposed doctor of journalism one would think you would have a grasp of reading, that others also said to xarabas to chill down and it's something to do about 6!! years ago, and actually i know that he was actually reported (and not by me) aside from the harassment he is actually calling out with that list, in my opinion he is too unfit for this whole mod thing.
But why send in a ticket if mods cover eachother nor do people's tickets get answered for months, if ever.
So, come again? Or we quit? Let's.
