Wow, discounts for using bitcoins? Never heard of that. Maybe there is an advantage to using them. For now though, I'm just looking for a middleman.

To be honest, you've missed the boat with mining solo now. Since finding bits from mining has an exponential growth, it means now, with giant farms and collectives grinding away 24/7 there is very little chance of you making anything worth while. Also, don't be fooled into joining one of the collectives thinking you're going to get a nice share of a big finds. Only the owners will get it.
A bit basic, but thats how it is.

I know but I'm just doing this for fun...with a laptop GPU these days, no way am I gonna hit 1BTC in any pools for a LONG time.

And approximately 89 years to hit a block solo...lolz :D

Anyways, I've looked into these pool things and I know that the owners get most. It's been advertised in almost all info sites and others that they get fees and whatever...lolz.

Mining Bitcoins? How?

You can get a good basic idea here.

Get a bitcoint client, get your ID, and sign up for a mining pool unless you have a FPGA/ASCI set up in which case you might be better off solo but you can still join pools to get a constant flow of coins. The flow won't be like 1BTC every hour or so but rather 0.00008927 BTC an hour or two.

You also need a miner which you should just get GUIminer if you're just starting...

Mining them, mostly for the fun of it as a nice experiment. Get a payout of .05 Ƀ every 2-3 days and buy TF2 keys with those that I later trade for games. (Amount to about $2/day)

I laugh at all these newbie miners who are years too late to really profit from this. Everyone who was ground floor the first year it came out became filthy and rich, then everyone else gets significantly less money for ever more effort. Diminishing returns hit this concept hard.

I saw the potential back when it first came out, too bad I couldn't afford to get a rig that could mine it. And now that I can it's not worth it anymore =(
