My Patriots didn't end up making the playoffs or the Super Bowl but former Patriots QB Tom Brady aka the GOAT did. He will lead his new team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers today in battle as they take on defending Super Bowl Champions the Kansas City Chiefs led by QB Patrick Mahomes.

Brady and the Bucs go into this as the underdogs, which I really love. In the past when Brady is put as the underdog in a Super Bowl the GOAT ends up winning a ring :) This should be a really good game no matter what team comes out on top. My hope is that it ends where Brady gets his 7th ring.

  • The Super Bowl Pre-Game show begins at 6:00pm EST
  • The Super Bowl begins at 6:30pm EST
  • The Super Bowl Half-Time Show will feature The Weeknd. Half-Time will start around an hour and a half after kickoff(8pm EST) and last about a half an hour long. The Weeknd's set is roughly around 12 to 13 minutes long and according to him he will be telling a story throughout the whole performance.

I predict that Tampa Bay upsets the KC by at least 14 points.

What's your prediction for the Super Bowl?

Patriots got the W, Bucs got a L, both games were really interesting to watch. A lot of people were really surprised BB was giving tons of praise to Cam, since he really doesn't do that. Cam blew up at the end of the game and the staff and players had to control him.. that's just how he is though unfortunately and one of the reasons I'm not a fan. BB can only do damage control and give good PR to Cam for so long. If Cam continues to act like Cam it won't matter. I do hope that being under the leadership of BB and the Patriots roster will start to change his mindset.

Tampa made some really careless mistakes and ya can't do that vs Brees and the Saints, they'll take it run with it like they did. I really don't think I'll ever get used to seeing Brady in a Bucs uniform.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are my team and have been since the late 80s.
Watching games live is kinda spotty due to the time difference, today's game will start (for me) tomorrow slightly after 1 am. I'll have to be at work at 06:30am, so ... The only games I can watch live are the early ones, and from the second wave I can watch the first half at most.

Thursday's match I did not watch, but I expected a Chiefs wins anyway. KC will be a favourite to reach the Super Bowl IMO.

I'd like to see the Steelers in the SB, but I don't trust the offense right now and fear the special teams won't be as improved as needed. As for who plays in the SB, as long as the Ravens won't reach it... everyone else I can live with.

+1 for steelers
not too hopeful for a sb run this year though. especially with how the ravens currently are. it's nice to finally have brady out of our conference though. no more getting knocked out by the patriots in the afc championship.

I'm supporting the Packers and, thanks to fond childhood memories, the 49ers.
I'd rather want to see the Chiefs against the 49ers in the next Super Bowl again, than the Patriots. :-p

As for the Superbowl, I'll be happy as long as I don't see the Pats. The fatigue is real.

The local football (soccer?) team that I grew up cheering is red, white and blue. When I began to like and watch the sport, around 2004, I saw the red, white and blue charging buffalo and I knew wich team I was going to be a fan. Go Bills!

I just hope that injuries are kept to a minimum and that the pandemic is kept in check and that we have a nice, full NFL season.

Go Broncos! I can't wait to see how the offense will grow this year. Also, Von Miller take my energy and make a comeback late in the season!

Thursday game: Yeah, I'm not gonna watch Chiefs games lol. I don't really watch games that do not have my team for the most part. Might watch Super Bowls, that might be the exception outside of the Broncos.

To segue this into gaming somewhat, I'm strongly considering getting Madden 21 when it's on a decent sale (so realistically, not until December at minimum, or maybe even like March or something) but that game is getting absolutely trashed by users, I'm trying it out during this free weekend deal and I like it a lot. Of course, my last played Madden is Madden 09 (on the PS2!) so I have like 12 years of catching up, but I can remember "money" plays and certain routes that worked even back then that are still plenty effective today (go figure), but even back then there were already complaints of "It's the same game every year but with an updated roster!" which I remember having that sentiment going from Madden 08 to 09. I'm in a place now where I can sympathize with users that want EA to deliver bigger improvements on a yearly basis, but since I'm going from Madden 09 to Madden 21, there is a BIG difference for me, which isn't the case for players who regularly purchase or try out yearly releases. So, I'm torn about getting Madden 21 because I tried it and enjoy it very much, but also weighing that and standing up with people who have valid complaints on EA's treatment of the series. This is a tough one...

I was really feeling sorry for Bullock after that FG miss!
someone on reddit posted that Bullock said after the game he hurt his LEFT calf but cameras showed he was holding his RIGHT calf after he missed the game-tying FG. so Bengals listed him as limited (๐˜Š๐˜ˆ๐˜“๐˜๐˜Œ๐˜š - plural).

I don't think they knew the rule... which would be a huge failure of the Special Teams Coach.

Comment has been collapsed.

I suspect they knew the rule but didn't think there was any way that ball was going 10 yards.
That said, they should have had somebody ready to pounce on it once it went 7-8 yards or so.

That probably couldn't have happened on natural grass.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The receiving team doesn't need to wait for the ball to go 7-8 yards. They can touch the ball literally anytime after it's kicked.

Normally, an onside kick is bouncing around like crazy and it often doesn't even reach any of the players until it's already gone 10 yards, so it's a live ball at that point.

But in this case, it was a slow rolling ball, so the Falcons could have just fallen on the ball after it went 2-3 yards and that's the game. Instead, they were dancing around like the ball was made of lava, trying to avoid it.

If you were making a video of what it would look like if the receiving team didn't know the rules, I think this is pretty much what the video would look like.

My take on it was that they knew the rules, but were afraid to touch it and have it squirt out of their hands/arms because of the way it was spinning like crazy-- plus they didn't think it would go 10 yards so they could just essentially wait for it to stop spinning (or at least slow down) and calmly pick it up.

So I think they knew the rules (I'd have to think that everybody on the hands team does) but they weren't aggressive enough to go and collect it.

It looked like a couple of Falcons misjudged where the 10 yard spot was and hesitated.

But it doesn't matter where the 10 yard spot is. That's the rule that I'm talking about, that I don't think the Falcons knew -- the receiving team can recover the ball anywhere after it's kicked, no matter if it goes 10 yards or not.

I knew there was a reason I liked you! LOL

I've been a 49ers fan since I was 7 years old. I remember watching them play the Redskins Washington Football Team in the 1983 NFC Championship... and I was hooked.

The Super Bowl was brutal, I may never be able to watch it a 2nd time.

The injuries this year have been ridiculous. Trying to stay positive but they have a tough schedule. Not sure if they can win with a bunch of backups. I guess we'll see.

:D

One of my first football memories was The Catch, though I didn't realize how important and iconic it would be. I just knew that it meant our team was probably going to win. I actually don't even really remember that Super Bowl...though I definitely remember 1984 (Jan '85) and being afraid that Dan Marino was going to stomp us.

This past Super Bowl was really tough indeed. It's still sitting on my TiVo, but I haven't re-watched it. I was so pissed when the defense acted like they just won the Super Bowl after Tarvarius Moore's interception. There was a ton of time left, and Pat Mahomes on the other sideline. I'll always remember watching the end of it with my son (8) the next morning. It wasn't until the Chiefs' final kneeldown that he said with a quavering voice, "...so the Chiefs won the Super Bowl?" It just hadn't occurred to him that the 49ers might lose.

This year has started out rough, no doubt. Realistically, I'm hoping we get healthier and can still make the playoffs. The one piece of good news is that Jimmy's ankle doesn't seem so bad...will maybe only miss one week. We'll see.

  • Patrick Mahomes has never lost a game by more than 8 points in his career.

The Bucs defense had a big game to stop Rodgers and the Green Bay offense in the last payoff game. The KC offense has an amazing offense so the Buc's defense is going to need to well in the Super Bowl or it might not matter how well Brady and the Bucs offense does.
