Hello, I'm looking at buying GTA V for PC soon, preferably Steam version and was wondering where the best place to purchase it from would be? I'm in Australia. Every decent site I know including Steam is all around the US$75 for me which works out to be just over AUS$100 which is a bit steep. If I want the non Steam version I could just go down to the shop and pick up a box copy for AUS$69. Is there anywhere decent I can get the Steam version cheaper than $100? Would that difference even be worth it between getting Steam version and non Steam version? I do like achievements. Thanks

As far as I know, the Steam version is only available from Steam Store.

Green Man Gaming have it too but it's the exact same price as Steam. G2A have it too but I'm a bit iffy about buying something off there, especially when it's only like $10 cheaper.

Oh, oops, well I won't be getting it from there then. I was considering it seeing as they have the 20% off code but for non steam version it's still more expensive than the shops.

Also consider that when buying from G2A, you have to manually select your location during the checkout process so they can apply the correct amount of additional taxes, and then on top of that you need to purchase the "shield" so that if you receive a bad key, they will replace it for you. Without the shield they will just utterly ignore you if you get a duplicate or incorrect key, making it an expensive gamble.

Factoring in those extra costs, the price is often more than a 'legit' copy from an authorised seller. There is also the problem that when you buy from G2A, you never know if your game will be revoked later if the seller was found to have acquired the key/game through scams, trading stolen items, etc. The lower prices are worth the risk sometimes but when it comes to newer releases you're nearly always better off waiting for a sale, and paying an extra £2-5 for a totally cool copy.

G2A is fine. If you're too suspicious, put in G2A Shield and purchase with it. If you do not receive your key/gift you can request a change that way. Also do try Kinguin, most of the time cheaper than G2A. By the way, you'll be able to obtain GTAV as Steam Gift only, so far.

Unfortunately, you are correct. And the Steam one is the only one that hasn't been on sale, while the Rockstar Club one has had healthy discounts for quite a while.

You could try a trusted trader on Steamtrades.

Could do that. How do I find a trusted trader? Just post in the Trade section on this site and if I find someone check their rep?

There is a search function there, just type in GTA5 and look for a trader with high reputation.

you could trade it for tf2 or csgo keys, if you buy them from the store or market you will have to wait 1 week though, but it's a better plan that spending $100.
