If you visit Germany, try to take a day to visit Bonn. It is only 30 minutes by train from Cologne and offers quite a lot things to visit (birth house of Beethoven; several art museums; old parliament building (Bonn was Germany's capital until 1990); a museum of mathematical machines, from slide rules, Enigmas to modern CPU architectures;....).
