Are you going to buy undertale?
No, it's a PC-exclusive release (as far as I know.)
It gained a lot of popularity after its incredibly successful demo.
Basically, with this game. You either never heard of it, and don't care about it. Or you've heard of it, and you're insane about it. Because this game got through greenlight in just 3 days. It was that insanely hyped and cared about.
They even made 1022% past their original kickstarter goal on kickstarter.

Accordingly, the game has been compared to:
"Although UNDERTALE is an original game, the demo has already received many favorable comparisons to the MOTHER (Earthbound) series, specifically MOTHER 3. Other have compared it to Cave Story, the Shin Megami Tensei series, Touhou, and Homestuck."

Mmm, mother 3~ Might just buy for the comparison alone, absolutely adored mother 3.

I didn't say I wouldn't insta-buy it, haha. I just want to check it out more. I love the oldschool gaming revival that's been going on these last few years. A lot of people dislike the pixel graphics and such (i.e. RPGMaker games, Quest of Dungeons, and oldschool adventure games like King's Quest and Myst), but the good ones bring back sweet old memories of being a kid and playing a game until the sun comes up and your mom is yelling at you to get ready for school! :P
If this is one of those games, I'll be sure to pick it up.

I don't know about that. It was an incredibly hyped video game and the second they announced it was on steam greenlight. It seemed as if everyone and their mother was thumbing it up and commenting on the greenlight page. I'm being serious XD You either don't know about this game (or much about it) and don't care about it. Or you played the demo and you are on the hype train.

It wasn't made with RPG Maker, it was made with GameMaker 8.0. Also just because something was made with RPG Maker, doesn't mean it cannot be an interesting and fun, enjoyable experience.
I wrote a lot of content for you. But really considering what you typed after everything I wrote. I realize I need to reconsider some of my thoughts and change my potential opinion on RPG Maker as I was starting to run into walls with myself and my opinion.
But RPG Maker games are not condemned to be bad. If the developer puts enough time and effort into their product. They can make a very enjoyable experience for their consumers.
I'll list a few good rpg maker games down below that I think people should give a try.
Painted Heart. An RPG Maker game with beautiful aesthetic and fun turn-based gameplay.
LISA, a dark, but humourous game with a battle system that can be compared to MOTHER.
Then there's horror games like Misao, and Mad Father. Very successful and great RPG Maker games with a good story.
Also here's another one I voted for on the steam greenlight a long time ago and apparently it's a good game.
Edit: (Here's another one. Meow.)
