The computer I'm currently using has always been a fairly decent computer, but here lately I've been having issues with the Graphics Card going out so it's about time I upgrade it.

I've been looking around and I'll be honest, I don't know jack about computers :D

So far I've come across the Sapphire Radeon Hd 7850 for about $170, and I've also found the Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 for about $100 more. Both seem like they'd be nice to get, and they both come with a couple free games which is kinda nice.

Now, like I said, I'm not too tech savvy, so I wanted to see what you guys would recommend getting. I know the 7950 is better than the 7850, but is the $100 difference worth it? Hell, are there other cards that would be better to get?

Also, I know I'm going to need to upgrade my Power Supply as well, and I do know I'm going to need at least a 500W supply, but I really have no idea which brand to go on that. Halp on that as well please? :D

As thanks, here's a giveaway! :3

As for the graphics card, I would go for the R9 270X. It is better than the HD 7850 and a little bit worse than the HD 7950. But I don't know in what price range it is in your country.

It's roughly in-between the two in prices after a quick google search.

I don't know anything about ATi cards, but check out this comparison site. It's helped me out so much with my recent graphics card purchase.

Don't skimp out on your hardware or "u got 2 upgwade yoor computah evry year"

7950 is a nice card, it'll last for many years. Games are barely taking advantage of 2GB cards now, and with consoles using APUs (GPU and CPU integrated into one chip), multiplatform games won't reach the 3GB limit any time soon.

Do you like Nvidia? You could check out the 760. It's around the same price as the 7950...
EDIT: Also, what games are you planning to be playing with the new graphics card?

Nvidia disabled SMX on 760, lowering the performance of the card. 770 is better choice, but a bit more expensive. Although I still would go with AMD cards.

I plan on playing any game, new or old. My current card can play any newer game just fine on the lowest settings, so I'm not too worried about running into any games I can't play with a newer card.

If you plan on getting games that are optimized for AMD cards like BF4, get AMD. If you want to get games with PhysX, get Nvida. Both are good choices

Being the Nvidia fanboy that I am, also remember that you get AC4 and Blacklist for GTX 660 - 760. AC4, Blacklist, and Batman Arkham Origins for the 770 or higher. :P

PhysX is just a marketing gimmick, doesn't offer much.

It bothers me more than gives eye candy. Too much shit flying on my screen and I can't see anything.

You'll be happy with whatever card you choose - since it sounds like your current system is a bit dated, all the new cards will be much better :)
As someone else said, the better card you get the longer before you'll need to upgrade again :p
