A hot dog is a food that was stolen after the WWII and renamed it because they want not/can't sell "Nazi" food
Yes normal a german food.
Würstchen im Brötchen. You get it everywhere. Mostly only blank with ketchup/senf/mayonaise and/or with onions.
Each region use other sausages. So you get as example "Lange Rote" (long reds) in Freiburg -the farest south west-, Frankfurter in Frankfurt (south germany), Nürnberger (bavaria germany) and so on. All different in taste and used stuff.
Worth to try it a lot.
I prefer the long reds but mabye because i know a butcher family and know that i get good stuff from them and clean made and not with anything bad inside.

It's confusing that a hot dog can mean just the meat or the meat with the bun :)
