Unlike EGS free games, the devs/ publishers don't get any money from giving away on Steam because Steam doesn't pay them for that.

You are not supposed to "end" the game in one weekend. Its like a demo for a game that doesnt have a demo. Download it - try it for two days and if you like it buy it.
And OP - "free" and "free weekend" are completely two different things. Edit your post

They are worth everything to someone who is interested in the game, but not sure if they want to spend the money on it and they can play it for more than 2 hours. I've bought games that I didn't particularly enjoy and couldn't refund because I bought a key from another store rather than directly from Steam. Or, if you do buy from Steam, you can't play more than two hours if you want a refund.
SG has a culture of wanting everything for nothing. :P
