Why do devs keep pulling their games from Steam? Is it costing them anything to keep the game on store? I don't understand.

Sometimes a marketing step or the final way, to generate purchases for trash. Works sometimes good in the past, to generate profit. Then they don't removed it.
Other removed it, or they bring it again as "Remaster"

Some because of licensed stuff in the game/the game itself expire

As far as larger IPs, it's almost always due to licensing issues.

For games without an offline mode, it's often due to expense related to server hosting.

For low-end games, it's usually a response to criticism or a form of exploitation to try and persuade bulk sales. For either, there's always a risk that they'll go into junk bundles before vanishing, as well, making the collector gamble all the more wasted.

What's up with the absolute douchebags giving "Infinite Air" negative reviews for requiring a controller? It had mostly positive reviews before it went in a bundle recently. (People got it for next to nothing to begin with) I checked that game because I was thinking about getting the bundle it was in. Therefore, there's nothing wrong with the game itself. It's just that it requires a note on it's steam page to say that it requires a controller to play. I've seen several games with that note.

Wonder if the mass influx of negative reviews has anything to do with their decision to cut their losses and run. If so, that's sad.

It even states that it requires a controller

Oh, so it does. Ty. That makes the douchebaggery of those reviewers even worse.

Some games have a little orangey box that says "please note: requires controller" or something like that. But... my guess is that they got the game in the bundle, so weren't too concerned with checking the page before purchase like a normal person. =(

Yeah ... its a very dumb reason to give a negative review, like if the game claimed to support keyboard and mouse as well and it didn't then it would be understandable but it doesn't state that, so their negative reviews are utterly useless XD

Valve stopped including reviews from key activation in the review scores a while back so AFAIK the reviews game from Steam store purchases. As somebody without a VR headset, I find myself looking for that orange "VR only" box pretty often. I might be a little upset if I bought a game that ignored that convention and just had a little note in a random spot, as opposed to the orange box that is always displayed before you get to the purchase button. Additional hardware requirements should be front and center whether a controller or headset or camera or one of these bad boys

I see this all the time: people whine about how it's "unforgivable" to snub keyboard/mouse controls, because that's a PC's native input or something like that. It's like whining about system requirements being too high; if you're really into PC as a gaming platform, a controller is something you just might have to get at some point, especially given how many games these days are cross-platform with consoles.

Exactly. I mean, I can understand in a situation where something is blatantly advertised as fully compatible etc, but it doesn't turn out that way. It did happen to me with one game and it was an OS-specific issue.

I was pissed off with "A Hat in Time" devs for advertising full controller support when, in fact, the game does not under any circumstances work with a controller on Mac OS. I always play platform-style games with a PS4 controller because I just can't do keyboard controls for more complicated stuff. In their case, they treated mac users like idiots when 100s of us reported that it simply does not work. They tried to blame it on particular controllers. There hasn't been a single mac user who came along and said "guys it works for me with this controller"... so they were pulling our leg. They didn't bother fixing it either. lol. I gave them a negative review to alert other mac users of the issue, saying I will change the review when they fix it. I did that as a last resort after reporting the issue and then realising, after some time, that every mac user was in the same boat as me and the devs didn't give a toss. XD

Should i get Infinite Air if i allready have Steep ?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

honestly, probably no

Steep is much more enjoyable compared to the MacMorris game

now this one is probably up to individual rig but Infinite Air had some ridiculous lag on my system which, while not a power, had less issues running Steep

Short answer: no

Long answer: Infinite Air has great snowboarding physics and score is based on how clean your tricks are and not how crazy they are.
The levels and objectives of the carrier mode are decent but sometimes, it's not clear what you actually have to do.
The big problem with Infinite Air is how badly it runs. It's a Unity game (so unoptimized) and it will make your rig run supper hot.
I was bored after 13 hours where I'm still enjoying Steep very much after 70+.
You can read my review on BLAEO but what I wrote about is pretty much the same.

well, glad to see im not the only odd person who had monstrous lag ingame then

its a shame really because it looked interesting but on my current rig its downright unplayable with the amount of framedrops it has

It's an alternative to Steep.
Other gameplay, both are cool.
I prefer STEEP, but Infinite Air is pretty cool as well.
And when you like these or SSX like, then buy both.
And 2.99 are not much.
If you spent less, then buy it on DIG for 0.90$ :)

I have both, played Infinite a little then played Steep later and I think you will be fine with only Steep.

Infinite air is pretty decent actually. I was looking for a nice snowboard sim and also found out about The Snowboard Game which is probably the better one, if you can handle the learning curve. Infinite Air feels less arcady than Steep, but also less complete, still fun to be had.

Good riddance to be honest, these shovelware games should have never made it to Steam to begin with, PolyKat would look bad even if it came out on the PS1 some twenty three years ago.

Polykat looks mediocre so that's a pass.
Infite Air on the other side seems like a decent game, is the game arcade-y or more sim-like? I tend to lean towards the less realistic, more racing-like snowboard games.
