I've done this before, but seeing as there are in fact some anime fans around here, i feel like trying it again and see how long this one will go until our first comment with derogatory terms appears.
Anyway, just use this place to talk about whatever your watching or anything anime related.
Just avoid randomly dropping lists of your favorite anime if you are actually not going to comment about them.

I Guess i should go first, although i dont have much to talk about right now
Just watched a couple of episodes of, is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon? some just call it DanMachi, i'm not really sure where that comes from
There are a couple of good things here, but its clearly intended for a younger audience, i like some of the characters and the animation is really good.
the problem is that the plot is just made from all the cliches you have ever seen in every other fantasy anime.
its just boring watch

I'm not a big anime fan. But I have been paid to draw a number of anime characters in compromising positions and so have looked at a bunch of stuff for research purposes. And also I have watched some more stuff with a girl I know who likes that kind of thing.

Out of the anime I have seen Urusei Yatsura was by far my favourite. It was really funny and had a pretty girl in a skimpy outfit. I also liked Oh My Goddess! - so much that I went and bought the comics and some other stuff by the same person. Dominion Tank Police seemed to have a nice mix of sexy cat girls and mechanised warfare in an urban environment. And I really liked the dodgy scouse accent by one of the characters in the UK release of 'All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku'.

That is probably the full extent of my anime knowledge - apart from that I really enjoyed Ken Ishii - Extra.

Ken Ishii 'Extra' , well...that was really cool, is there more?, thats the kind of animation i used to enjoy back in the 90s and sadly rarely ever seen anything like it ever since.
the music itself is really good, i will surely look him up when i have the time, dont know why but his name sounds familiar, i think i remember it from a sega cd or saturn soundtrack

I believe some of the people that worked on 'Akira' were involved in 'Extra'. As far as I know it was a one-off and like you say they unfortunately don't seem to make them like that anymore.

Ken Ishii is pretty good and has certainly done game soundtracks. I'm not aware of him doing anything for Sega as far back as the Saturn although he was very prolific in the mid-nineties.

I said this more than once but I personally feel like an outsider not liking anime at all, I do share some sort of affection for Japan tho, but not for the same reason most gamers do. For example brands like Visvim or Bape, to name a few, are brands that rely on hand-crafted high quality clothing. I really enjoy the japanese street wear. My favorite brands, since the first two are not affordable at all, would be Wtaps and Neighborhood.

On the other hand I like Tomoo Gokita (Painter) and Hiroshi Sugimoto (Photographer) very much, but I guess they are exceptional artists that happen to be japanese.

As for Anime, and this is something I also mentioned a lot, I would want to try out JoJo's Bizarre Adventures. It seems just bizarre enough to fit my humor and to forget about the fact that I actually don't like Anime.

The closest I've ever come to enjoying Anime is collecting Pokemon cards when I was in 5th grade. Simply not my taste.

Yeah, when I was very young I enjoyed watching Dragon Ball or collect Pokemon cards but I've simply grown out of it unlike my fable for cartoons or comics.

I think its hard for someone to dislike anime in general, if you for some reason enjoy JoJo´s Adventures, i have good news, there are many other series you might enjoy, just remember to stay away from most of the well known anime these days, its all just battle and fantasy themes and it's all very formulaic and cliched.

Then again if you already watched anything from Ghibli studios, Satoshi Kon, or even series like Baccano or Cowboy bebop then you´re right, and i doubt JoJo´s Adventures will change your mind

JoJo is a great series, anyway you should know that the first narrative arc (the first 8-9 episodes) has less humour than the rest of the anime/manga but it's still good and the plot and characters are interesting. Part 2 (the second arc) is where it starts to have some funny situations and starting from part 3 it'll get really bizarre.
Part 4 isn't planned to be animated yet...

Sounds promising tho! And I experienced that tv shows and series in general always need to time to get to their best. I always need 5 episodes or so until I really enjoy a show that has some sort of narrative different from sitcoms that jump right into it.

I was really into the original, mostly due to how gritty it looked.
the first few episodes of the remake were embarrassedly bad, it was just really sloppy work and there was a huge lack of violence.
fortunately they redeemed themselves after a while

I really have to descibe it? I can't describe things in english... ;_;

I might try.

The Big O

Main character is like Batman, but instead of wearing a suit he is fighting in giant mech. Not our usual mech like from Gundam, his machine is originall which is another reason to watch it. It show grimmy but interesting vision of somehow dystopian future. It have great story, and good characters. It keeps you asking questions even after finishing all season. It's not something to watch and forget about.

Art itself is very nice, it's a little old series but for me it's a good thing. Soundtrack is great, I mean really great one of my favourites.

Like I said, i'm not good at fully desribing thing in english so please, just give it a try. You won't regret.

Just watched a couple of episodes of, is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon? some just call it DanMachi, i'm not really sure where that comes from

Danmachi is short version of full japanese title (Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatte Iru Darouka). Dan from "Dangeon", obviously U was sacrificed for easier pronunciation with A in short version. It's my own breakdown of the name but I believe it's quite accurate. Jappies just love long ass titles and then make unofficial short versions just for the heck of it! :P

And on the anime itself - I've seen it, as cliche as it is, it was pretty fun watch. Got a weak spot for all rpg-like storylines tho. If you started it then be sure to finish it, action picks up in 2nd half of the season.

Just noticed that the season have its specific subtitle - Familia Myth. Together with the fact that it had quite open ending it may mean more of Danmachi seasons will show up in the future. Honestly wouldn't mind :)

Valkyria Chronicles is the one I am watching right now due to having recently played the game. It's a really enjoyable story even though I already know what will happen. I'm not that many episodes in yet though so I can't really comment too much more on it. Some of the stuff from the game isn't in the Anime and likewise the Anime has stuff the game didn't.

Haruhi Suzumiya was great for its first season. The second... Endless 8... was really disappointing. It was basically the same episode over and over again with minor changes because they were stuck in a time loop basically. Watch the first season, maybe watch the second skipping the Endless 8 arc other than maybe the last episode of it.

The first Anime I ever watched was Chobits... ages ago. I don't remember it well enough to say if it is worth watching now, but I did enjoy it back then.

Never watched the anime, but the game is really good, i even started playing it again, this time on pc, also bought the sequel, though i never played it, ill have either to buy another psp or maybe emulate it.

you will have to watch the anime first, but Suzumiya Haruhi no Shōshitsu is better then the series

Just finished watching Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo, the first anime I've ever watched in subbed (dubbed wasn't available).
All I can say is that... Damn. I did not expect that kind of anime, and enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

When someone recommended it to me, I initially thought it would be some kind of a mushy, cheesy romance anime... But I was wrong, and ended up really enjoying the development of the story. One strong point was that some of the comedic scenes actually made me smile, which isn't something that an anime usually can achieve.

The ending was great in my opinion, and while I'll avoid spoiling anything, I'm really happy that it wasn't one of these "this is the end" kind of end. It's a bit hard to explain, but I expected an extremely cheesy ending, and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't all that cheesy after all. :P

Next up on my list: Either Hyouka, Shiki, or Bakemonogatari. I might go with Shiki. I like these creepy, dark anime.

At the moment im watching Gankutsuou:The Count of Monte Christo. My friend recomended it saying it is a small masterpiece.

The general plot of Gankutsuou, while broadly the same as the novel on which it is based, changes many aspects of the source material.
(Its mainly about revenge although it takes a while to unfold).

I have to say that since I mainly watch it at late hours , I havent been able to enjoy it that much, so i say its mediocre (ep 13)

but now im curious on how violent this is, just need to find the bluray version i guess
EDIT: so i just finished the first season and good series so far, but...wth, it wasn't even that violent, in fact after a couple episodes you dont even see most of the kills, it's mostly just fast editing to cover up the fact that they weren't animated

I finished Samurai Champloo last week and I did not like it as much as I expected I would.
Maybe it is because I compared it to Cowboy Bebop and did not enter into the anime with an open mind?
I came with the expectation that it would be nearly flawless.
I felt that the same themes were repeated multiple times and it got dull.
I also have mixed feeling on the ending.
The sword fighting and music was amazing though. I was impressed with it's quality.
I especially liked Aruarian dance from the Samurai Champloo Departure album.
Am I an odd one out for saying these things or do some people agree with me?

I didn't like the fact that one of the main characters didn't die by the blast of tons of explosives in short range, twice! I convinced myself twice that he would be dead, and I was sad about it! But then he's alive and I felt feeling for nothing.

The new Aquarion series seems Semi-interesting so far.
Danchigai seems like a Decent Slice of Life so i will give it a shot .
Obviously the new seasons of Durarara and Working are must watch !
God eater seems okay'ish ....
To-Fap to Darkness season 10million and 7 ... must watch .
Teekyu is one of my favorite 2min long series :P
The New seasons of Fate and Idol master should be okay i guess ...

And ofc Non Non Biyouri , even if its half as good as the first season ... its top 10 anime of the year material :x

Aside of those ... there is quite a few Obvious PLOT Heavy x Fan service series that i may give a shot @ watching .

Uh almost forgot , there is the Movie , which will be the end of Love live ... according to a friend ... its really good if you enjoyed the series .
And it really ends them ... like for good ... so i guess thats worth mentioning .

So yeah , it is indeed a GREAT season

I recently watched Angel Beats, and it was AMAZING. At first I was a bit sceptical about it(besides the fact that everybody is dead, which is pretty weird just to start, some stuff they say didn't fit well with my religious believes(some even gone agaisn't it)). But how wrong I was! It starts by introducing that the heck is happening to deep story telling. The story is rich, and ... I forgot the word :P. The point is I didn't want it to end. I experienced feelings I haven't felt in a long while, good ones, those ones can't you can't describe no matter how hard you try(similar to love).

If you haven't watched it, go watching. If you are a heartless bastard, go watch it because I'm also a heartless bastard and I like it. If you have a heart.... Good for you, the main character didn't :P

Well, I went through the 2nd season of Knights of Sidonia in a few days.
That's well recommended as it's a harder type of sci-fi than most anime (hard meaning, more reasoned out and/or more grounded in reality). even though it doesn't always shine through in the animated version. And it has has having plenty of action and character evolution to go with it.

.Then there's of course Monster - another example where the story's so good you'll forget you're watching an anime. If you're into any form of psychological thriller, you should watch this.
