I love Dark Reign. I even bought a second disc for that one.

One of the best and most unique RTS games is now on steam, it was released in 2001 and died very quickly due to issues of the 1.0 version and lack of advertisement. It's publisher is actually Bohemia which I didn't know, all I know now is that I love Bohemia even more now, thanks to ArmA and thanks to Original War.
The game used to be on GOG a while, now it's finally on steam after 13 years...
What I love about this game so much is the way units are managed. The "humands at your disposal" are limited. Everyone has their own skills in one of the 4 classes and can't be replaced that easily. Units can't be trained or anything, if they die they are dead and you have one less soldier to fight with (of course there are maps that have a way to spawn you low skill random units, all depends on the campaign mission or MP settings). There are many thinks that I love about this game but there is one thing that you will love:
APE SOLDIERS!
You can train apes to repair and build structures for you, fight for you (As Russian) or blow themselfes up for you (Mercenaries).
The game has a unique storyline as well that I found quite enjoyable.
I loved the game so much I purchased it back in 2002 or 2003 for 1€ (NO IDEA, why Media-Markt (local electronics vendor) has them for 1€), my CD's broke and I purchased it again for 40 € and again later. I even made a 8 mission story Mod for the game, scripting is done in Pascal and the editor is pretty straightforward.
I am so happy this game is on Steam now I just had to make this thread in the hopes of some of you discovering it like I did.
TL;DR:
The game is good, get it
