So, I decided to make a song. I would like to believe it resembles something like psytrance, at least it kinda sounds like that. Never created one so this all is new to me. Used only free software (audacity, ffmpeg, sox) to create this.

Any comments are welcome. And you can like and subscribe if you want :) Uploading rarely so far but will try to upload bit more from now on. Currently have 2 songs and one gameplay video on my channel.
Anyway,

Here is youtube link:

Vairogs - Need To Start Somewhere

Or if you prefer soundcloud over youtube, here is a link to it:
https://soundcloud.com/vairogs-lv/need-to-start-somewhere

And as always, mandatory giveaway. I would like if you at least listened to song before entering, it's not even 3 minutes long. Thank you.

Second song:

Vairogs - Viking Path North

I don't want to sound rude, but I want to be honest. I don't know anything about making music, but it doesn't sound like much of a song. It's seems kind of bland. I could see it being put into a platformer video game as background music, but not as a song to listen to on it's own.

Edit: I also don't like the effect where it goes back and forth between the left and right channel to make it sound like it is moving around you. I actually heard this for the first time earlier today from your other mood music thread with the "8D audio". Directional audio is good for content where you can benefit from something sounding like it is coming from a certain direction, but I really don't understand why people like music that just fades back and forth constantly.

Edit 2: I like a lot of techno, trance, house music and some other stuff like that, but I don't know of any psytrance that I like, so my opinion might not mean much since I don't really like the genre.

Where's the "no, but keep at it" option? It's your first time trying something like this, so of course it's not going to be amazing. The important thing is you took the first step and tried. Everyone starts at level 0, even the greats. Keep messing around, maybe find some learning resources, and you'll improve over time. (I'd suggest some here but my expertise is in classical music so this is way outside my wheelhouse.) Good luck!

I think it's a great start. My experience is more with recording guitar/ukulele/vocals, and I have such a tough time with the electronic music. I haven't used audacity much. I've used the free version of Studio One and bandlab (which is just free outright). I think your song needs a little more finesse and subtle changes to make it a bit more memorable.

The song reminded me of the sound you make when jumping the rope for some reason.

Nice try. ^^ I'm not the best at describing it, but I feel like it's missing something. As if there are still some empty spaces in the song that need to be filled, in order for it to be more song-like?
