So, Hi, new here, still trying to understand how this thing work. I won a game (a DLC), but I already own it, when to see it in my Steam Library and it's already there (since it's on my To Be Played list I forgot). I found it odd because for what I've seem the site warns when I already have the game.

Anyways, how do I do to other person be chosen since I already own it?

I guess you could ask the gifter to reroll for another winner...

You have to contact the creator of the giveaway you won and ask him to reroll the giveaway. Don't give the game away yourself because it's against the rules.

Post a comment on the giveaway page that says "please reroll" or something similar.

FYI: you're right that the site does "warn" you when you own a game, but it can't do that with DLC, so it's up to you to check whether you own DLC or not before entering the giveaway.

^ What Canis39 said. Just post in the comments section of the giveaway asking for a re-roll because you already own the DLC. The giveaway creator will file a ticket, and Support will see your comment and roll a new winner. The DLC will then be given to the new winner. Just make sure you don't activate the game or DLC you won. As long as you do nothing with the game or DLC you have won, it is simple to resolve the issue.

But let me ask this, while we're here and it's similar. I entered a more than one giveaway for the same game. If I win, am I excluded from the other giveaways automatically or i have to do it myself?

You will automatically be removed from any other giveaways of the same game.

The site will automatically remove you from similar giveaways if you win one, but it is conceivable that you might win two giveaways for the same game in the same instant. If that happens, just handle it appropriately.

I think that's not possible either. Look at the third sentence here:

It also works for giveaways ending at the same time.

and also:

Does this prevent all possibilities of winning a game more than once?
No, a user could still end up the winner of a giveaway, and then a different giveaway they entered in the past could be rerolled, causing them to have two wins for the same game. Or, a user could win a giveaway, believe they are not going to receive the gift from the giveaway creator, and start entering more giveaways for the same game, only to win again. We'll look at options to reduce these possibilities, but for now, this update covers most instances of multiple wins that we are seeing. Remember, if you ever win a game more than once, you should only redeem one copy, mark additional copies as not received, and ask those giveaway creators to request a new winner.

Didn't that was resolved with a later update?
At least it now shows previously won even if you didn't marked received

Oh, right, I keep forgetting that update ^^;
it's not even the first time someone reminds me of it :v

Though I don't really know how it works.. I know the system shows you "previously won" but, does it right after you win? or there's some threshold before it appears? Must remember to check next time!

I think immediately

It starts immediately, and stays that way unless you mark not received.

Also, check your DLC's before entering the giveaway. If you find one you already have, mark it as 'hidden' on SG so you will never have to see DLC's you already have show up in the GA list.

Okay, thanks, I posted there warning the issue.
Sorry for the problem, just got in the site, thought it warn for DLC too.

It doesn't due to Steam's API not playing nicely with other sites... for example, the Sam&Max games still how up as unowned as do several games where the first chapter is free. It's always wise to check your library before entering these GA's. And I highly recommend reading the FAQ's carefully if you're brand new to the site :-)

Steam's infrastructure has a lot of underdeveloped elements, and those carry over to the elements that other sites can access.
Most notable of these is an inability to reliably check ownership of DLCs, or anything containing a DLC [such as a "Complete Edition"].

Whenever you obtain a new DLC, you can try to find the game in the giveaway list and click the "eye" icon (see Scourge's attached image) to hide the giveaway. If there isn't an active giveaway for the DLC, you can search the Archive (link found on the bottom of any SG page) and try and find it there- the eye icon is found in the top-center of any individual giveaway page, as well. Likewise, if going through a "train" on the forums, you can determine if you've already hidden the DLC (or DLC-including package) by checking if the eye icon is no longer visible in that top-center location.

I think this one is by design though. The steam API is capable of reporting ownership of DLC, and it does so for the Skyrim DLC, some of the major EU4 DLC and so on. I suspect that it's designed like this to avoid clutter/bloat, where it reports ownership of every small cosmetic DLC. So I suspect that this is something that the developers or publishers can set, what gets reported and what does not. Because outside of SG, when would anyone need to know if I own the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Retribution - Captain Wargear DLC or not?

Aren't those classified internally as "Expansions", though? I know that label at least used to be handled differently than "DLCs" are.
Well, that's just a technicality- so you may very well be correct about it being intentional, but it's still due to how things are configured on Valve's end. Though yeah, I guess outside of SG, and general tracking/sales sites like SteamDB and IsThereAnyDeal, it isn't something of any note, and this does offer better efficiency on Valve's end of things. Though, I'd definitely love to be able to easier search out DLCs and filter out owned ones from such sites.. so from my perspective, it's a loss on every Steam-related site I use. :P

I guess the problem with your DLC is already solved.

Since you are new, consider joining the Unlucky-7 group. It´s for people who won 7 or less games. Just read the requirements on the forum group page, maybe you´ll like to join us.

Don't take it seriously. No one cares and no one checks if you really have those DLC's or not. If you win keys you may trade them or do whatever you want. Everything is ok and everyone is happy.

First time I entered here, I won a massive giveaway, which I wasn't interested. I thought it would be a great idea to give it back to the community. Lucky somebody warned me. Still, I got in quite a few blacklists.

Yeah, I'm trying to only entered giveaways that actually interest me. I have lot of games that I got for free on my library (Humble and other things like this) that I never played, but in here it just seems unfair, specially because I don't know when i'll be able to give a game away. First opportunity I have, sure. But I'm not in a position to just buy a game to give right now with college and other stuff
