So the new RE 2 one shot demo is out for steam. PS4 and XBone.
Have you tried it and if so, what are your impressions of it so far?

I actually liked it for what the demo was. Now I have to save for a bit to get it.

I love this message on the right side of the page:

"Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: Denuvo Anti-tamper
5 different PC within a day machine activation limit "

It's a freakin' demo.

Well, it'd obviously be unfair if someone got the demo for free! >:(

I am watching people run the demo and another group who watched that group play the demo to get further.

Just finished it. Super well optimized, looks good and it seems way gory compared to the original. I like it. January 25th can't come sooner.
Also even if you sprint through it, the demo ends right after you return to that black cop for the second time (after he calls you)

"Finished" it with less than 2 minutes left. A true Resident Evil game, no doubt. And yet it feels like a completely new game compared to the original. Static camera angles were replaced with shoulder view, so recognizing locations are rather hard. It's like playing Mario in first-person view with photo-realistic graphics: you know this stuff, and yet it feels so different. It's a brand new game much more than a nostalgia trip.
The PC release is extremely well done, with almost any setting you could think of: DX12 support, HBAO+, textures up to 8 Gb, HDR, Dolby Atmos, 5.1 sound, binaural audio, rebindable keys, FOV etc. etc. Only the colorblind mode is missing. And my favorite addition here is that it shows the GPU memory load based on the settings you choose and a preview image for each setting to show the visual differences.
It's obvious the PC release got a lot of love from the devs, and so far it seems to me they nailed almost everything in it.

i saw u say they kill silent hill in 2012 and was like"the fuck is this dude talking about". i looked it up and now i hate you. i had to work so hard to forget that cinematic shitfest existed and u had to remind me. lol

the first movie was the best video game movie ever. ever. then that sequel happened, my god that movie blew. think of it like postal 3, it never happened, it doesn't exist.

They killed Silent Hill way before that, it died at Origins and Homecoming.

I quite enjoyed the homecoming, i know it's not a popular opinion but i never really disliked one game of the series. I really had hope for Silent Hills, but it never happened. I hate Konami for that.

It's not a horrible game but it's a horrible Silent Hill game, if it was its own original ip maybe I would have enjoyed it more. I love SH 1-4 to death, I know the games after SH4 might not look that bad to the casual fan but to me every game after 4 got rid of everything I loved the series for.

it runs great and looks good. i finished it with a few min left. i will get it someday. i have to say it doesn't feel like a survival horror game. i finished the demo with 75 bullets 1 health spray and 2 red/green mix herbs. i felt more like a zombie stomping tank then a survivor, and that makes me sad. i hope the real game is a lil more difficult on the resource front.

Well, to be honest even the original RE games just gave you tons of ammo after the first hours, especially if you know when to run and when to fight. I remember finishing RE3 without using the grenade launcher and the revolver once and with lots of shotgun ammo.

after a few hrs not 20 min. knowing when to run and when to fight means 2nd play through. i killed every zombie and still had more then 1 full stack of ammo. speaking of re3, after the demo during the advert cut scene i swear i saw a dude that looked like nemesis but it was only for a sec and i cant go back and look again because of that stupid 30min limit.

I'll wait until the full game is released.

Also, I've heard RE3 is being remade as well. Seems like that is the only thing Capcom is capable of nowadays.

I might have missed it if I hadn't seen this thread, so thank you for that!

The demo was really good, imo. The game ran better than I expected it would on my increasingly outdated PC, and it had a great atmosphere to it. I expected having a timer would annoy me, but I finished a run through in about 25minutes, so didn't bother me much. Resources were much more abundant than I would expect too, but it's a demo after all - I guess they wouldn't want to make things too difficult for just a sample ^^

I'll definitely be looking forward to playing the full game :D

The demo was fun but just wish this was something entirely new and not a remake. Between having played the original and the abundance of resources you get, there isn't really any horror feel to this at all. At least not for me.

That said, I think if you just go in with the right expectations it can probably be a very enjoyable game. Runs great and looks great too, always a plus.

Finally got around to try this. I never played the original but I really liked this demo, sadly I couldn't get very far into it before running out of time :P
I'm surprissed it ran that well in my aging PC, seems like this engine is well optimised. I would love to say that I'm getting it on release but looking at the price I'll probably have to wait untill 2021 for it to hit a price point I consider reasonable.

The demo was nice, level design is on par with the original (lots of locked doors, backtracking, doors to before and all the other nice touches that the original series had) and the combat system lets zombies be a menace even when fully stocked with ammo, thanks to their durability and cramped spaces. It seems a really nice game indeed (on par with 7) and i will probably buy it at launch.
