So I found out Train Sim 2014 came out the other day, and I checked the store page- How the hell do this many people have it?

Kiss bundle in old times - about week ago. You could have it for about 25 cents.

Also: the "Haulin' USA" pack was 90% off last summer, and it made for a lot of giveaways here on SG.

Blame Maxis. They started it, IIRC, and they did it before DLC was a thing. The original The Sims came out at full price, and then they released the rest of the game piecemeal, each of about a dozen or so "expansions" costing as much as the original. I guess if they just released the whole thing for $100, fewer people would do it, but several $40-50 installments, people just kept on paying and Maxis laughed all the way to the bank.

Replace Maxis with EA, ty.

The first one to successfully include little DLCs in a game were Rockstar with Red Dead Redemption, I think. EA just brought it to the worst possible... for now.

RDR is way newer than the original The Sims. It's a ten year difference.

Yeah, I suppose that's fair enough. But I think the developer shares some of the blame.

There's a strict rule here about calling out. Surprised you asked, Mr. Almost-10k-Comments

Does that count as calling out?

I've learned to not try to walk the thin line of what is or isn't calling out. Mainly because the mods don't like to make exceptions, so they just go "Someone else in the pic? CALLING OUT!"

It's only natural that so many people have it. I'm very concerned about the 3 poor souls though that actually want it.

The below answers are only partially correct. Everyone who owned the previous versions of Train sim have had there games engine upgraded to Train Sim 14. TS 13 came bundled with a few DLC that are different from those included in TS 14. Previous owners do not get these added, theredore the achievements can not be earned By previous owners as they are tied to the specifically to the DLC included with TS14. There is currently a big uproar among those people who did earn achievements in TS13 as the Dev's decidd to wipe them clear rather than add the new ones. So far the Dev's only response is that these new achievements are somehow better.

Anyone considering buying the DLC that is now required for the achievements, can not buy the base package because steam considers it already owned. Rather than spending $200+, it is best to wait because publisher are syaing they will make an upgrade package so as not to totally piss off everyone who purchased previous versions.

It makes sense that upgrades don't get that content as you already got your free content when you bought yur original version.

Its not free content, just discounted into the base bundle. I don't mind that they change what is included, I will likely buy they upgrade pack if it is released. I do mind however that they ignore previous players efforts to get the achievements, and preventing people who purchesed TS13 from getting any achievements, because they deleted the all.
As I posted somewhere else, people who collect achievements feel the same way about them as people who collect stamps, coins, models etc. You do not confiscate their collection just because you release new items.

There's also mention of some poor folks who have had dlc they bought revoked and placed in packages they now must buy if they wish for it back. Don't know much about that, but there's so many mentions of this on the hub it has me glad I've got this plus Trainz, since I have a feeling I won't be getting any addons for this one :D

I'd never pay a full price for a game of this 'caliber'... The devs in all simulators are extremely unfriendly in terms of pricing their products, and in terms of supporting their products. They demand so much money for something that's usually worth 10$ or so. Come on, they create a damn train model and want 20$ for it, just so I can ride it on the same tracks like before? ...

Is Boromir doing voice-overs in this game? Since I saw the trailer where Lord Eddard Stark spoke with such passion about trains, I really wished for having this game.

Just a quick note to everyone that still has TS2012 in their inventory.
You will notice the name reverts back from 2013 to 2012 and the picture is the default "steam gift" one. However, it will include the new TS2014 and some DLC.
So don't go complaining that the gift is useless. It's not.

Train Simulator 2013 was just recently offered in the Groupees Kiss 2 bundle for $0.75, with the extra offer of a free upgrade to TS2014. They could only get 10,000 keys however, and this made a bundle rush where before TS was added, the bundle was selling very slowly. Groupees had to close down the bundle once the keys were gone, and were asked by the KiSS people to reboot the bundle, and thus Kiss 2 reloaded is currently running without TS. http://groupees.com/kiss2r
