[EDIT] Seems this thread is kinda redundant maybe, because of this.
Although going through it does seem to be a bit messy and taking a long time to go through, and not all are really pure point and click.

Was a bit disappointed in the first larry (and still shame not a big sale), felt too easy, and short, hope this one gets better.
Still Willy Morgan seems the more interesting one.
Feel free to add your links if you have more interesting ones.

I love point and clicks but the genre has some big problems
lot of new games...

  • are to easy
  • are to short
  • try to be funny but arn't
  • repeat the same old jokes from classics over and over again
  • go the episodic way and never get finished

hope this two ones will be better.

The best "modern" point and click I played was Paradigm because it's so over the top that it's funny again.

Well if you lived the nineties they seemed long but only because you didn't had the internet to look for spoilers, you had to wait months on your favorite game magazine to post hints or a walkthrough or keep trying.
There is a speedrun achievement for monkey island 2 to complete it in 3 hours..All the old ones were very short too basically.

Shame Daedelic entertainment and Pendulo Studio went a different way, i tried Blacksad but basically a QTE game and finding hidden stickers, haven't compelled me yet to get back to it.

Virtuaverse is also nice.

Blacksad is okay but has so many bugs... it's frustrating.
Virtuaverse is great. Same as all the Wadjet Eye Games but they are a classic route.

I try to finish all the games without walkthrough today and also in the 90s. If it's not for the screens that at least some of them just feel short (that's not better).

upcomming on my wishlist:

I'd play them probably in 90's. Maybe I'd try them in 00's. Barely look at them in 10's
But now... =P Especially the last one with pseudo graphics

Willy Morgan game looks interesting but I will not even try Larry. I have Land of the Lounge Lizards: Reloaded that I gave up to finish. Just lost my interest to gameplay

Yeah but Reloaded is not the best version to play, you should get the larry collection and play the vga version, or ega, or heck it was even a text adventure called softporn.

I believe reloaded did not have input from Al Lowe and was not happy with the game either? These are made by different people.

Was actually a good way to learn english, how i did it. :) Especially when you still had to type, sometimes i had walkthroughs through BBS (so i still got a walkthrough but also in english or dutch in a game magazine, that and watching English cartoons/shows.
English was basically the only class i never had to learn anything for and still get good grades, only problem is having played too much that i didn't care much for my other homework back then.

Well if it does get closed and you got it bookmarked you still be able to access it. ;)

But yeah i might as well put all suggestions in op as long as people post the links.

Already posted these in the "Upcoming games..." thread, but it went pretty much unnoticed, so here we go again:

Forever Ago

A Narrative-Driven Road Trip Adventure.
Following a tragic stroke of fate, Alfred embarks on a journey north in search of redemption. In this single-player road trip adventure, you'll travel to beautiful places, capture memories with your camera, meet interesting people, and even make some new friends.

Monorail Stories

Monorail Stories is a minimalistic adventure game that is more about choices and interactions than mind-bending puzzles. Ordinary people in extraordinary, everyday stories about commuting, human relations and destiny waiting to be told.

I like P&C so thanks. Unfortunately a lot of modern P&C has some issues that I don't like. They're too comedic, cartoonish or artsy. I like my P&C more realistic and not overly humorous.

Thanks for the list! There's also Sherlock Holmes Chapter One, although I don't know if it still falls into the definition of point&click (the previous games in the series belonged to the genre).

Also, Children of Silentown has been on my radar ever since its announcement - same developers as Little Briar Rose, a small gem.

Thanks, it appears sherlock holmes will be very open world and different ways to play this game, not making it a pure point and click adventure, i can make this thread about all adventures, but then it's getting very broad.
My personal favorite genre always been pure point and click and sadly it's seen it's ups and downs, so why i best to stick to those only.

That's absolutely understandable and I will keep a close eye on this thread, since I love the point&click genre :) Thank you again!

Did you play prev Holmes game? As for me, it was a big fail. Barely I will try that Ch1

Played the first five so far. First game was horrible (but considering it was their first videogame ever and still sold enough to give them budget for the next game I can't be too mad at it lol).
Second was okay, although it didn't age too well.
Third, fourth and fifth games were fun to me, I enjoyed especially the third.
I haven't bought the others yet outside of the last (The Devil's Daughter), which I still have to play. From what I heard it was a step back from the spirit of the series because they wanted to attract fans of the recent movies starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, but I prefer to play it and judge by myself when I'll get some time.

From the little I have seen from teasers of Chapter One it seems they are still walking away from the classic Holmes, but hopefully there will still be elements that made the old games interesting, like interrogating suspects and putting together all clues in tables trying to find logical elements that link them.

Nice list, About half those weren't on my radar yet. Thanks for sharing.

The Murder Mystery Machine def caught my eye. Monorail Stories looks promising. Plot of the Druid, the lead remind me of Geron from Dark Eye/Memoria; by the voice at least. Lord Winklebottom and Backbone I've had an eye on for a while. Hoping they'll be great.

A few for the list?

Thanks, Nine noir lives looks what Blacksad should have been (with it's better graphics).

I am gonna put my doubts with Shots fired though, it appears not very adventure game like, it has shooting, simulation and other stuff, making it generic.

That's fair. I mostly only skimmed my curation pages for point & click. Admittedly, I did not look at Shot's Fired too closely. As for Blacksad and Nine Noir Lives. I think I incidentally found them around the same time. Or maybe Backbone was one of the two I found at the same time as another. (Ooof). Either way. Hopefully one of them turns out to be amazing.

Thanks, although i find it a bit messy the way it's presented there, seems futile to copy everything here (alphabetical), although not every game posted there i would classify as point and click.

I will just point the link in the op i guess.
