"It’s one of the most unique RPGs in history… and about history. We reveal everything you need to know about LIVE A LIVE’s PC and PlayStation release, including the new demo!

LIVE A LIVE is coming to PC and PlayStation!

Released on Nintendo Switch in 2022, this one-of-a kind RPG is set to release on Steam, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on 27 April 2023! What’s more, a free demo is available today that lets you play through the opening sections of three stories in the game.

It’s a beloved RPG that’s inventive, experimental and quite unlike anything else in the genre. Read on and we’ll tell you all about it:

What is LIVE A LIVE?
In 1994, the original LIVE A LIVE released for the Super Nintendo, exclusively in Japan. It was a distinctly different type of RPG - rather than tell one epic, continuous narrative, it focused on eight tales spread throughout time, from prehistory to the distant future.

This new game resurrects the classic game for modern audiences around the world with the stunning HD-2D visual style as featured in OCTOPATH TRAVELER II and a beautiful, rearranged soundtrack fully supervised by original composer, Yoko Shimomura.

Everything that made the original game so great - and so unique - is here, with eight memorable characters spread out across all of history. There’s no set path through the game - you can pick which character to start with and play through seven of the stories in any order (the eighth story is the finale… but no spoilers here!).

Each tale acts as a sort of mini-RPG, with its own setting and even adding unique mechanics, making for an extremely varied and replayable game that always has a new surprise round the corner.

Here’s who you’ll get to play as… and when."

Ohhh that's awesome! I came to ask if that was the same game from the SNES, but according to the description you pasted it is! I had so much fun playing the ROM with Aeon Genesis translation! Thank you for sharing

Too bad Square's regional pricing is horrible. I've noticed most (big) japanese publishers just straight up changed their prices 1:1 currency/dollar (or pretty close) after the Steam suggestion thing.

Amazing, another Square game with awful regional pricing. Having played the original, I must say I can't wait to pirate this one.

Yep, but it's NOT a deal. Unless you're brain-damaged and think it's worth that price.
A lot of games have a special discount price on launch/preorder, but we won't start listing them...

Would have been better under general discussions...

Pricing is whack, UK has a 10% lower price than EU or in my case, Hungary while their income being multiple times of what's here. I'm already used to SqEnix's high prices and shitty discounts, but the regional prices are weird. Like according to IMDB it costs even more in Mexico?

Live A Live was originally on the Super Famicon, released only in Japan. Only recently did it get a translation and Western release. It's a bit obscure so if you don't have a major interest in JRPGs you've probably wouldn't know about it.

The original had some good music.

What the hell, that price is insane. Why does Square Enix always do this shit? Are they trying to make up for their disaster Forspoken and the coming NFT game?
It's a 30 year old game FFS.
