You know, you have playing a game for a while and then suddenly the save is corrupted or a little cousin/brother/son erased it by accident.

In my case was Guitar Hero 2 in the PS2, my little sister erased my saved game with all songs and characters. It was value for me because i suck at guitar hero :D.

Crusader Kings II ironman with one of the vikings tribe, when i owned half of the world and still had 2/3 of the time to play. My world conquest and decent number of hours was brutally wasted by a corrupted save file :/

Football Manager 2010, for the reason that I'd put a lot of time into it. Hard to know exactly how many hours I lost, as I used to run that game 24/7, minimizing the window when I wasn't actually playing. As a result I have 10,00 hours registered on Steam. Actual gameplay hours is probably 1000-2000, which is admittedly still a lot. For the save I lost it was 100+ as a guess.

Nearly there on the Remaster, for the Platinum of course, though filling the Square Grid and Dodging 200 Lightning Bolts is probably the most intimidating, thank god for cloud based systems!

Pokemon Diamond; I gave it to my sister to hold and she let some stranger "look" at it, and that person stole it.

Ouch, as bad as some of these are, this could be the worst.

I don't know about you but I tend to transfer all of my old Pokemon to the newest game when it comes out-- I imagine that's many many hours of captured Pokemon lost. I feel your pain.

I lost my Pokemon Diamond cartridge! Had alot of Pokemon, even legendary Pokemon that I attained from previous games such as Rayquaza etc, probably had the same fate. :(

The original Baseball Stars for the NES.

I had once bumped the system while playing the game and everything on screen went wonky. When I started the game back up all of my saved teams had infinite amounts of money in their coffers. My teams needless to say, became quite dominant.

One day my brother went to create a new team and inadvertently deleted all of mine. Sad day, a sad day indeed.

Fallout 3.
I had thousands of hours accumulated over multiple playthroughs, but my main file was 500+ hours.

Lost it when my sister's toddler managed to RROD my 360 Elite.. :c

Ouch indeed! I've had the GOTY version for PC for years now but just thinking about trying to get back into it is hard after all that lost progress. D:

And Lilly was lucky to be as young as she was at the time. Had she been a couple years older, my sister probably would have torn her a new one for that. But because she was so young I got screwed over -- "Lilly couldn't have possibly done that. 360s just break, that's what they do."

Translation: "I'm not paying for your property that broke on my property while I let my child play it without your permission." xP

Why didn't you take the RPOD hardrive from your broken 360 and put it in a new elite?

Comment has been collapsed.

Ended up replacing it with a Slim instead.

Had heard they "lasted longer" (it fried 2 weeks after warranty to a lightning strike, ffs) and the built-in wifi was a bonus at the time, 'cause my parents' house is huge and the router/modem was really far away from my old bedroom. They weren't willing to let me run an ethernet cable throughout half of the first floor. :3

So do the slim and elite not have the same hardrive?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Nope, they don't.

I'm pretty sure the Elite's and the original's can be swapped? Their HDDs essentially make up that oddly shaped top portion of the console. But the Slim has an internal hard drive, it was just this little tiny square thing that popped in and out of the bottom tray.

When I was very young, my cousin accidentally wiped my Ratchet & Clank save. This save was like the Master Save. There were other save slots that people could use or overwrite, but only I was allowed to touch the Master Save. I had unlocked everything, collected everything, had a shit-ton of playthroughs on it. Keep in mind I was very young, so this was a massive achievement for me. I was not happy when I found out she had wiped it.

Also, I recently just found out that my Pokemon Gold save is now corrupted or something. Pokemon Gold was my first ever game. I've had that save for like, 13-14 years.

omg. D:

I love/hate really long RPGs for just that reason.

They suck you in for so long - and I love that they really last. But I hate that feeling when you lose your save data - or even lose interest, real life takes over, etc - after you hit the halfway point.
You want to go back because you enjoyed it, but you just don't want to start it over because it takes so god damn long to get back to where you were.

happened to me with Icewind Dale, got a corrupted save file at around 80% completion of the game, and the most recent backup was at about 40%... that was about 5-6 years ago, and as you said, i never quite managed to start playing the game again...

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for the PlayStation 2.

Nearly at the end of the game, when you're back again at Los Santos, my brother accidentally overwrote his save into mine ;_;

So I had to do it back from scratch but thanks to that I could finally finish the damn game :V

GTA: SA on PS2 here too. But more of a corrupt save/bug than human error.
After you go to country side and race with that protagonist from GTA 3, I couldn't beat that mission because the levels never fully load.
(invisible tree, missing ground etc)

Deleted that file(40hrs) and made a new playthrough skipping everything and the mission went bug-free this time.
The next annoyance was the RC flight missions but it was worth beating to see that epic ending.

Haha I accidentally overwritten my Brothers GTA San Andreas save file bu accident! He was pissed, though he started from another save file he save but it was still quite a good few missions away, he completed it eventually!
