hi people! i've created a giveaway a month ago for Hero of the kigndom, as in my other giveaways i sent the key by mail to the adress on steamgift of that user.
Still haven had any response from him, i sent another mail, and added him to steam but nothing.
i check his profile and seems he doesn't activate the game, (but i can't check if the key its used because i don't have the game so if i try it will be activated on my account)
should i request a new winner?
I don't know whats the real deal here but my CV its not on 100 as it should be so in a way it affects me that he didin't feedback me.
if i request a new winner, my cv still gets on 86? or i get my 100 again?
thanks.

It's showing as not received and you won't get more cv, it's a bundle game

There's no way to prove that the key wasn't duplicated

Yeah but anyways the winner didn't accept their request and never contacted him too.

You can't request a new winner if it was marked as not received

Sure you can. I've done it. I just contacted Support, showed them the emails and screenshots of me offering the winner the game and him (her?) not responding, and then we picked a new winner with a re-roll.

I don't recommend sending keys by mail, however. You want to be talking to a live person when you hand over a key. And definitely document everything because some people are liars and thieves.

I have a question which is bugging me for months. Can I request a new winner simply because I don't want to give away a game to a winner that has too high a win-give ratio (gives too little but wins too much)?

Nope.

Easiest way I guess is just set the lv higher.

SGTools has an option to block unsatisfactory CV ratios.

That doesn't always help either if you are looking for win-sent ratio.
Only option would be using SGTools for your giveaways and set minimum ratio to enter.

I tried to use SGTools but it is very uncomfortable to use in my opinion.

"I don't like the winner" is insufficient grounds for a re-roll. Re-rolls are granted for the following reasons:

  1. The winner fails to respond. (You tried to deliver, but there was "nobody home.")
  2. The winner is currently suspended.
  3. The winner was recently suspended (within the past 30 days) for "failure to redeem a won game."
  4. The winner requests a re-roll. (Documentation required.)
  5. The winner is unable to redeem the game due to region restrictions. (Corollary to #4.)
  6. Winner already owns the game (or part of the bundle).
  7. Winner does not own the base game to the DLC.
  8. Winner was no longer a member of the required Steam group at the time the giveaway ended.
  9. Winner was ineligible to join the giveaway (e.g. leaked URL to private giveaway).

So other than using SGTools we don't seem to have more convenient way to filter out the urgh, how should I put it, customized-unqualified users?

There are various gates you may use to filter entrants to your giveaways.

  • CV Level
  • Region
  • Private/Invitation Only
  • Steam Group Membership
  • Partial Ownership (of a bundle)
  • Whitelist

The only other non-SG gate currently in use for giveaways on this site is SGTools.

You can always blacklist them. ^^
Edit: And just now I realize this thread is 2 years old. lol

I know. But it's mostly based on random checking and, more importantly, with the expense of making GAs. I will choose to make high lv gift instead of other approaches.
Btw, do you use SGTools to filter ppls?

Do you mean if I check every winner of my ga's with sgtools for not activated and multiple games? Yep, every single one of them. :)

Hmmm, sounds like SGTools is somewhat helpful.

It is. I found users with 20+ not activated games. I reported them of course. Users only break the rules this many times because most ga creators don't check their winners.

TBH, high level doesn't really work because many people farm level in small private groups and then leech public high-level GAs.

If it helps, here is the filter I most often use for my SGTools GAs. That's pretty quick to use because all it takes is copy/pasting in the custom filter box :)

(real_sent_public > 25) && (ratio_real > 0.25) && (ratio_number_giveaways > 0.25) && pass_activated_rule && (real_sent_region_free/real_won_region_free > 0.4) && (real_sent_public/real_won_public > 0.4) && ( (real_sent_public + real_sent_private) / (real_won_public + real_won_private) > 0.4 ) && (last_multiple_win <= date_modify(date('now'), '-1 years'))

And a harder one, that I use when I want to be more restrictive:

(real_sent_public > 25) && (real_sent_private > 10) && (ratio_real > 0.3) && (ratio_number_giveaways > 0.3) && pass_activated_rule && (real_sent_region_free/real_won_region_free > 0.6) && (real_sent_public/real_won_public > 0.6) && ( (real_sent_public + real_sent_private) / (real_won_public + real_won_private) > 0.6 ) && (real_sent_private/real_won_private > 0.2) && (last_multiple_win <= date_modify(date('now'), '-1 years'))

Dang, I never think too much on the dark side on SG... Looks like I may use your code and try it out in SGTools, even though I've no clue how to use it.

When editing your giveaway filters, the code is used by putting it into the "Custom Filters" field. At the very bottom of the page you have a tiny link called "Show/Hide variables". You can click it to view the meaning of all those variables ;)

For instance:

  • real_sent_public > 25 checks that the CV from public GAs is > 25
  • ratio_real > 0.25 checks that the global CV ratio is > 0.25
  • real_sent_public/real_won_public > 0.4 checks that the CV ratio for public GAs is > 0.4
  • (real_sent_public + real_sent_private) / (real_won_public + real_won_private) > 0.4 checks that the CV ratio for public + private GAs is > 0.4

Contact support, you will need to provide them with a screen shot of the message you sent to the person as proof that you had sent it. They will make it as received. Don't make a new giveaway or do a reroll because you have no idea if the key has already been used or not.

In the figure when handing out keys, I suggest this. Add them on steam friends. Send them the key that way once they answer and you know you have a live person on the other end. Take screen shots of the exchange. Thats how I do it.

I contact them send them this message.
"Greetings and congrats on winning one of my steamgifts.com giveaways."
Once they answer I say.
"Just give me a moment and I will go and get your key for you."
I take this moment to open up my unused key text file and to open up steamgifts where the created giveaways are.
I send them them their key and check off the sent box on steamgifts
I then say
"There ya go, don't forget to check received over at http://www.steamgifts.com/manage/won when you get a chance."
At this point I take screenshots of the steamgifts created page showing I clicked sent along with having the steam chat up on the side showing the conversation. Usually they will say back that they have activated it and checked received I will then refresh the steamgifts created page to check.
I will usually say
"Thank you, and enjoy your game"

Then take a new screen shot showing it was checked received by them and that they said it in the steam chat.

One of my first giveaways went something like yours, though they just didn't click received but had activated it. I never just send it by e-mail anymore. Its more work to do it via steam chat, but at least I know that they got it for sure. Again I only ever send it via chat once I know I actually have the person on the other end.
